  1. If I am one of.the three I can assure you that I don't hate this county. I have been here longer than most. My family was actually squatters in the lost mountain area.

The elected officials that were in charge before the last.election were self-serving, arrogant and some.think corrupt.

Since these same politicians gave the local Republican party a fat bank account, they seem to overlook a lot of the shortcomings.

Going.to hear lipservice from the candidates is worthless. These are local people. Find someone you can trust and ask them for an opinion.

Sorry did not mean that for you. It was for the three that seem to hate this county. I think it is pretty wonderful. I have

been here a long time, and I have seen a lot of people move here.

Okay, I thought so and yes, I love this county and that is why I am here and a member of the GOP, Consertavive Republican to be exact, who is the majority in this county. We are not perfect but it beats the other side.

  2. It is pretty common knowledge Paulding needs well paying JOBS other than BOE, Big Box Retail, and Burger Flipping.

We have location. We have 278 and 92 and 61 with reasonable access to the interstates. We are convienent to the Atlanta Airport and we now have our Paulding Airport as well.

We have one of the world's largest Intermodal yard less than 10 miles away in Powder Springs. That Norfolk Southern facility is the same as a deep water port. A container comes of the boat today in Savannah and is hooked up to a tractor trailer at the Powder Springs facitily the next morning.

We have a well educated work force who would flood any HR office taking local applications.

But we do not have any nice, Class A well planned and developed Business Parks with warehousing and combined office space.

A Widget manufacturer, or any other type of goods wants to see available buildings ready to move into with a reasonable 5 year lease. Some want rail siding, just about all require multiple dock height loading doors to back semis/tractor trailers up to for unloading and reloading goods. They want a nice looking park with covenants, wide roadways for the tractor trailers and appealing buildings with some trees left standing and nice landscaping. But they are NOT going to come in and build their own building. It just does not work that way. Like most home buyers, they want to come in and see buildings ready to move into and possibly change the office layouts.

So how do our various candidates for the Legislature and BOC plan to address attracting industry to Paulding ?

And whose neighborhood would you like to build these? <_<

  3. Green Eyed Girl

Welcome to P.Com Good to see that word is getting around that P.Com is the place for politics in Paulding County.

Such a shame that More candidates choose not to participate in these forums.

I have nothing against women running for office, And would not hestiate to vote for a woman, Case in point Karen Handel seems to be the most qualified candidate in the Republican field for Governor.

I do not agree that we should overlook the past 13 years of Beverly's employment. It certaintly has a bearing on her ability to focus on the needs of the Citizens of Paulding County.

Just so you know,Some one gave you some bad information That Todd was on the "LIST" and remained silent. Fact is there was no list at that meeting, It was a Public Hearing open to the public with no need to put one;s name on any list prior to speaking.

I was at the meeting and planned on speaking my self, But other spoke about the same things that I going to speak about, And I saw no need of being Redundant.

Did Beverly attend this meeting? Did she remain silent? Fact is while she was the Executive Adminstrator she was on the podium for most all of the tax increases proposed by the previous adminstration.Furthermore she was not in attendance at the meeting where Adam spoke, Further proof that Beverly could care less about the tax increases being imposed on the citizens of Paulding County.

No further proof of anything but your own opinion. Try again, Whitey. 8)

  4. Apologies for any confusion - as it relates to this topic, I have campaigned for everyone seeking out the truth.

I don't see answers to the question related to what role she played other than clerk. That may have been missed when you read my post. Several other people asked that of you also.

I don't believe most candidates will come on here. I think they use other methods to reach the voting public.

    They do... :D

I have no personal vendetta with Beverly Cochran, I will state again she seems to be a very nice person, Just does not have the credentials to be a County Commiissoner.

We need commissioners who will represent the citizens, Not special interest groups

ITHY As much as you bash people on P.Com please do not give me a sermon on bashing, Your credibility on this issue leaves a lot to be desired :D

Did I see some post you made supporting Jerry Shearin???? AHH Are you one of the good ole boys??? PFFT

    Only the lefties. 8)

  5. Hi MEvans

No I am not in post 2,And neither are most of the other posters in this thread that is supporting Beverly.

Yes you have campaigned for Beverly on P.Com and that is your right,Have at it.

The campaign has really got a long way to go,And if Pubby allows the discussion to continue you can rest assured that more will be discussed about Beverly, And her ties with the adminstration that she worked for.

Beverly has a choice,She can answer the claims here on P.com or she can ignore this media, The choice is hers.

If I recall the first time that Beverly spoke at the (I believe Republican Meeting)She opened up this can of worms by attempting to distance herself from the Jerry Shearin adminstration in her remarks at that meeting. (it was recorded and posted here in another forum.)

As a person, I think Beverly is a nice person, And I do not consider my comments as trashing her, I Have said nothing about her that is not a matter of record,And do not intend to, However I do not intend on giving her a free ride, By simply taking her statement as the gospel like some on here have

Do a search on the Jerry Shearin camoaign here on P.com and the good ole boy network will jump right out at you :D

Oh and I am sure you, Surepip and Feelip will be spreading your stuff, I mean "opinions", about Beverly that will have very little substance or basis of fact.

Furthermore, her statements that YOU say veered away from who she worked for has very little interest among most people. She is running for what she believes in, not who she used to work for.

Just as one of your other buddies stated, you will not vote even a person was a janitor who just happened to work in the building under the previous BOC.

Personally, that is a cop-out and absurd to say the least. You all have convicted her for no other reason that to spread whatever propaganda you all have with Jerry.

Things like this, without merit of any fact of evidence other than personal agenda's is what turns people off from getting involved in politics.

Stick with the facts of evidence not personal vendetta's. It is useless to beat a dead horse over and over again just because you can. <_<

  6. Oh yeah Ithy. Matter of fact I am quitting my job next week and going full time on the "Help Beat Beverly Cochran" payroll.

Take a deep breath and try to realize just how goofy that statement was dude. :nea:

I call it as I see it. <_<

I was around when all of the mudslinging you all did to Jerry and how you looked forward to Austin taking on your case and here it is, nothing has happened now has it?

Me? Not fooling anyone. I try to take an open, thought provoking approach and hope others do too. You clearly have an agenda. I'm not even really campaigning on here - unless you count that I have on MULTIPLE occasions suggested that readers here search out each of the candidates and make a decision.

I am not trashing candidates based on the company or gov't they worked for in the past. I am not trashing any candidate for any reason. That has always been petty to me. Unless I can post pictures and proof of what someone saw or did, wrote, etc, then it is smearing. I have information that I've gleaned over time for each candidate, and I made my decision - but I don't belittle or trash those that I choose will not get my vote.

I'd appreciate it if we can all let this go (for now - as I understand from Winchester that these ugly posts will occur during each election cycle). There will be plenty of opportunities for us all to reach out to these candidates and figure out who we'll support.

    :good:

  7. GOP Rules As far as I am concerned Todd Pownell, Adam Gregory, And Beverly Cochran Can all Denounce me all that they care too, And so can the other supporters of Beverly Cochran, I have no intentions whatsoever from backing away from this race.

You and the good ole boys network I see have come to the rescue of of your favorite candidate and I could care less about this also.

Beverly Cochran as I have stated previously appears to be a nice person, However her past association with an adminstration that has literally bankrupt this County should be taken into consideration when considering whom to vote for.

Furthermore Beverly Cochran had much more influence on the running of the County other than preparing the minutes, and the agenda items,As previously stated in an earlier post, In fact she was much more than a "clerk" as has been alluded too in a previous post.

So it is okay for the good ole boys to malign and denounce Mr. Stout for his actions, A typical right wing tatic But please do not talk about Beverly WOW just WOW.

For your information I am also a Christian, Father, Grandfather And Great Grandfather and this has nothing to do with me being qualified to become a commissioner, Or make citizens aware of the past actions of any candidate.

WOW...I'm a part of the good ole boy network too? Dang, I'm not even a native of GA and I am now a part of a club. :drinks: :yahoo:

  8. Look Ithy, Jerry smeared himself. As soon as he lost his adviser and financier he was going in circles in the bottom of the toilet. When he got caught lying about the email, the undecided voters in the county finally saw that what mean ol' Whitey, Suepip and Feelip had been screaming was the gospel.

Back anyone you like little guy, but lay off my ass when it comes to pointing out that someone was part of a former regime. Those people damn near destroyed the county. It will take good, honest leaders many years to straighten out the mess they left. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANYONE THAT WAS A PART OF THAT REGIME. I don't care if they were the damn janitor! Now you starting to see the picture?

Don't tell me what to do or what I know. I see the newly elected BOC chairman, that you and others helped to get elected for your own selfish agenda, is helping ya with your case, huh? 8)

  9. Right! If I'm Todd Pownall I'd tell Whitey and Surepip to shut the heck up. I don't have a horse in the race but this is disgusting what they're doing to this lady. From the folks I've talked to she is a stand-up Christian mother and grand-mother. If they have allegations of specific illegalities then please name them but this guilt by association routine is a typical leftist technique and Todd Pownall should denounce it and denounce them.

GOP rules.... Whitey, Surepip, and Feelip did this before with a major bs smear campaign with Jerry and wouldn't surprise me if they do it again with Beverly. For them, it is personal(has nothing to do with what she can do for Post 2 in a positive way, let alone know her well enough) and to attack her is correctly absurd.

Neither of them will give anyone a chance if they came from the previous board as you say, guilt by association is what they are playing on.

  10. Look:

If it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, and talks like a duck; Odds are pretty damn good its a duck.

If you want to elect Jerry Shearin's protege of 8 years to the BOC then by all means that is your choice and you can do so when voting.

But to expect Beverly Cochran to be all her own person as a politician after sitting in on all the executive sessions concerning property deals, litigation, bonds, building the TajMahal, etc., and to not have picked up some of King Jerry's fleas in the process is in my humble opinion far-fetched and absurd.

For those who have dealt with the BOC, and Beverly in the process, then you understand she was part of the Good 'Ol Boy system just as much as was King Jerry and his merry band of puppeteers.

    Hmmmm....

  11. So it is okay with you for an employee of the county being paid with our tax dollars to remain silent on issues that affect all tax paying citizens.

It would be most helpful if she came onto P.Com and explianed her silence on this matter

Why don't you contact her instead of waiting for her to come to Pcom? How about the Repub meet and greet coming in June? You can ask her personally. 8)

Very good questions and thought provoking ideas for us to consider - from you and LPPT.

There will be several opportunities to see the candidates in an open forum and during public appearances.

I again invite you all to come to the Paulding GOP meeting on Saturday, May 15th at 9am (come early for snacks if you'd like). All commission candidates have been invited to speak that day.

June 19th there will be a meet & greet at White Oak Park. The Republican Party hosted one of these a few years ago. I wasn't aware of that one, but I heard it was fun and informal way to spend time getting to know the candidates.

More details to follow for that one.

The last one was very successful and look forward to this year's. I compiled a list of contacts for every candidate to Joe so it should be a good one this year.

  12. I saw where Mr. Pownall Has a website at toddPownall.com

I saw where Mrs. Cochran has a facebook page and she encourgaes folks to look her up.

What is the deal with Mr. Gregory? Does he have a web site where folks can look at his resume and get a feel of what he's like.

I certainly want the best candidate to win, but voters need to be informed.

  13. Todd was able to FORCE Shearin to engage in an argument instead of the usual rolling his eyes and smirking at the other commissioners like the lowly citizen that was speaking was far less intelligent. And once Shearin engaged, it didn't take long to see why Shearin didn't debate with any of the citizens in the past (or why he didn't go to law school). I loved it.

My take? Anyone that was associated with the Shearin regime or the School Bond double jeopardy act will NEVER get my vote and I will work against them tooth and nail to keep them out of office.

    Imagine that.

  14. I am not trying to destroy anyones character simply pointing out the past Facts of Beverly Cochran.

However if Beverly should choose to enter the fray here on P.com I would be very eager to discuss the entire episode with her :D

I previously stated that Beverly appeared to be a very nice person, I stand by that statement, BUT.....She had the opportunity to stand up for the tax payers and failed to do so.

This is by no means an assination of her character. Just the facts :D

I wasn't aware she was an elected offical to stand up for anything.

It also still applies that it is your opinion and not a basis of fact.

  15. I like Mr. Todd Pownall. He's a great guy who's been really involved with the community for many years. He'll always listen and make good decisions based on the facts.

There's no way I'd vote for Beverly Cochran, as she was one of the underlings backed by former commissioner Jerry Shearin who got booted out of office.

I know absolutely nothing about any of the other candidates.

Any evidence of that or are you shooting off with the mouth with zero substance?

I have a problem with her not speaking up about the proposed delayed tax increase, that was exposed by Todd Pownall,At a BOC meeting. This certaintly fell into her responsibilty and knowledge as an Adminstrative Assistant to the BOC, Sure she was a County employee and her salary was paid for by our tax dollars She worked for all the citizens of Paulding County, Not for Jerry Shearin and the other County Commissioners who desired to keep this from the general public.

Maybe Beverly will come onto P.Com and explain her involvement??? I am not trashing Beverly for working for the County under the Jerry Shearin regime, I AM SIMPLY POINTING OUT HER INVOLVEMENT IN THE DECEPTION OF THE TAX SCHEME

    Back it up Whitey.

Ask Beverly if I have the proof??

Mr Pownall is not in my post, Therefore I do not have a vote in this race.Furthermore there are three candidates in this race

I have had some dealings with Beverly, And to be quite honest with you some were not very plesant for me.

having said that Beverly appears to be a very nice person. The citizens in Post 2 have the opportunity to judge her merits to become a commissioner. Which wil in all probability will include her tenure with the past adminstration

If you have no proof other than to work on destroying someone elses character, then what you say means little.

  16. For some reason, this page is all messed up as a large space is present before the next post.

Anyhow, here is my take on the matter.

I am a Republican and I can agree that what we are seeing all over the state with the schools being shut down and teachers being laid off and it is terrible.

I can also agree that the state could have cut more.

However, this problem with the schools is not just affecting GA, it is all over the country and some areas are worse. Having said that, nothing will change until Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress enact “real” economic stimulus, halt the bailouts, halt the health care bill that we cannot afford, halt the waste and cut the spending.

Revenue is down from the federal level down the local level. You cannot just grow money for services that we have enjoyed and schools are of no exception. The national debt is worsening every single day with no end in sight.

People have less to spend than ever. People have lost their jobs and homes which equals lost revenue for the state and the county. One cannot spend, spend, and spend without increasing revenue. It is a very basic economic fact that when debt increases, spending must be cut not increase.

The so-called Obama tax cut was a complete joke. It served no purpose because it was way too small and did little and the impending tax increases beginning next year will make matters worse. Increasing taxes is the wrong path and will lead to worsening economic conditions.

Therefore, although I feel the state could have done much better at cutting expenses, something the Federal government is not doing, what we are facing now with the schools and everything else will not change unless Washington gets it and when it does, then the state governments better get it as well.

I would say this past Georgia session was probably the hardest these men and women who represent us have ever done. When only so much money is available, there is only so much juice you can squeeze out of an orange.

That is my partial take on the matter.

  17. Just a reminder that there are people immensely interested in serving, but who simply cannot afford to do so.

You are correct, JMT, as I have wanted to but cannot afford to do so. Even if I wanted to run for a state rep or sen, I could not live on $17000/year. I spoke to someone the other night about that. Either you have a ton of cash, own a business or whatnot, one really had no chance to take on such a position.

  18. I very much agree NJ. I hope it doesn't turn ugly either - I really like all 3 of the guys running and I do not want to see it turn ugly. We as voters have some very tough decisions to make in our local races and I think we should all do our research on the candidates as these positions are very important and impact us greatly (individually and as a community).

I do think there have been some very unfair statements made about Chad Plumley here such as "he is riding on his father-in-law's coattails". You know maybe he is just concerned about the well being of our county and its citizens and would like to have the opportunity to serve our community in this capacity.

It will..it has already begun and will be this way until whenever.

  19. And the Posse keeps true to its roots. Regardless of ideology, if you do not have an "R" next to your name then your are just a big turd.

I have NEVER agreed to play partisian politics, but I have some bad feelings about how bad the "R's are going to get their collective butts kicked this November.

But, possibly afterwards, some of the scores which the "R"s feel they need to settle, from the past 100+ years will fall by the wayside.

I don't see a blast happening of Dems taking over. Besides, I was a dem until the Reagan years and haven't looked back since and happy I didn't either.
