  1. WoW! WASHINGTON (AP) — In a stunning move, House Speaker John Boehner informed Republicans that he would step down at the end of October. Rep. John Mica said Friday that Boehner "just does not want to become the issue. Some people have tried to make him the issue both in Congress and outside." Boehner took over the speakership in January 2011. http://news.yahoo.com/gop-lawmakers-speaker-boehner-resign-end-october-134146275--politics.html
  2. Excuse me ::::elbowing my way in:::::: I'm not Catholic and there's much about Catholism that I don't agree with, but that's neither here nor there. Not since Pope John Paul II have I even been interested in a Pope, much less his visit to the states. I do have a great reverence for this Pope because he is different. He belongs to the people . And our representatives, Democrats and Republicans or otherwise, would indeed be wise to heed his words. But his challenge to Congress might reverberate in the marble halls of the Capitol for quite some time: “Each son or d
  3. Wow Pubby, I think we watched the same speech and we came away with totally different interpretations. Haters gon' hate.

  5. I thought it was some kind of bug I'd never heard of.
  6. Seriously, when I read the topic title, I was trying to figure out what a "groundscrew" was....... LOL
  7. How would I get that done? Obviously he loves it here, he made his way back home.
  8. Wow Eddie that's great. Keep looking for me. I know he would be so happy to have a mate. He's a great bird and let's me pet him and he eats out of my hand I could afford $400 with some help and I would go get her. Talk about a crazy road trip to get a white mute swan!! LOL Who wants to go LOL
  9. Well, I found out something today. My swan didn't leave me. My daughter was talking with the neighbor across the lake today and they were talking about the swan coming back. He couldn't believe it because he took him off about 4 months ago (which would be May). I couldn't believe it. He took my swan. So I called him. He's always been a good neighbor. I wasn't mad at him but I wanted to know why. He said the swan was real aggressive when he and his grandaughter went down to see him and he pecked on her and bit her. He said he even bit him. (Now they don't have teeth,
  10. It's a good defense when nothing else will do but I don't believe it.
  11. Somehow I knew you would be the one with no gay family members.
  12. Ok. So I just left home and the swan was home. I went to White Oak and checked both lakes and no swan. There are white Peking ducks but that's all. I asked a couple of folks if they had seen a white swan, and they probably thought I was crazy!! I'm thinking sushi may have seen him making his way home......or it could have been a white duck?! LOL Maybe I'll start a Gofundme for a swan mate. White ducks at White Oak
  13. Congratulations!! And that's what I said in another topic. Everyone posting on here or anywhere has someone gay in their family. They either don't know, or in denial or won't accept. And that's a shame. Good luck to your son and his partner!!
  14. I was so glad to see him today. I went out on the deck and as soon as I hollered at him here he came. He even let me pet him on top of his head. I'm in love with this swan. If I could, I would pick him up and hug him. LOL There's just something magical about Swans. He was really aggressive back in the spring. He would hiss. But it was spring and I know he needed a mate. He even got aggressive with my two little grandbabies and I popped him in his mouth and he quit. He was in a sour mood before he left but today he was happy to see me.
  15. I've only seen him fly from one end of the lake to the other, but I remember last year when I posted I had a swan, a couple of people posted that he had been at their lake, and said he was a sight to see flying on Hwy. 61. I think he stopped traffic. LOL He's huge when he spreads his wings! And somehow, I'm thinking he may be the one that was seen at White Oak yesterday. You just don't see swans everyday. The only lake I know of with swans is in Marietta.
  16. Well, I may or may not take you up on that. I need to go look this afternoon.
  17. It might have been him. I need to ride up there and look. He came to my lake last year from another lake. And he stayed for a year. Last summer He tried an innertube and that didn't work and this spring he tried a couple of geese and that didn't work. And then he left. I would get him a mate but a mute swan is $1K so all I can say is bless his heart. LOL
  18. ***update post #34**** He had been with us a year in May and then he was gone. He would occasionally visit nearby lakes but he would come back. Well in May the days turned into weeks and I would look around at nearby lakes and never saw him Today he came back home!!! I'm so glad to see him and he was glad to see me. I fed him and he's still here with me at the dock. He may leave again but I'm glad he's safe. That was all I worried about was him getting to where he was going and stay safe. I wish I could find him a mate because I know that's why he left. I'm just glad he came to visit!
