And I know that you're ragging on the 'establishment' because your crew is too ... and on the issue of the airport it is obvious we disagree. Beyond that, I would encourage you to view the video. It was well done and Pete Combs, a WSB radio reporter, didn't pull punches ranging from the issues surrounding the allegations of secret meetings to the lack of opportunity of citizens wishing to speak. I think it does relate the administration's point in a no-nonsense way. George Patton "Pat" Hughes

Stradial: Sounds like you didn't sleep well, did that pea under the 40 mattresses disturb your beauty rest again. If you had listened a bit longer, you'd have heard the big thing regarding this airport and its future plans. That is the capacity of the facility as it stands and with the city of Atlanta owing the land surrounding it, fat chance of the county expanding to a second runway or even expanding the current one. Blake and Robert Aaronson said basically the facility could accommodate up to about 12 flights a day as currently configured which is a far cry from the 1,400 flig

Actually, the failure rate of green company failures is - you guessed it - exaggerated: This from mediamatters - CLICK HERE for the complete article: Of course I fully expect you to come back with other views but then we can then go to the cost over-runs and millions spent on no-bid contracts with companies like KBR in Iraq that may or may not amount to fraud. Of course the difference is that the money that Obama expended on green, sustainable energy is consistent with the idea that we as a people need a sustainable way to power our economy while, of course, the GOP spen

Looks Like A Select Committee Will Investigate Benghazi

Interesting ... Lets see, the flight that contained the 26 members of Osama Bin Laden's family was on Sept. 20 so it was after the flight embargo was lifted. Apparently that fact, which was ignored obviously in contemporary reports, wasn't clarified with the same intensity as the original report. Mea culpa and I'll accept that along with the notice in the snopes report that that all 26 were asked if they had any knowledge of or involvement in the 9/11 tragedy and they all, with a perfectly straight face, said no. I think it instructive that all six escapees from the American Embassy in T -

ABR: Watched the video. It is spin. So was the reaction to the attack in the midst of the attack in Benghazi. My sense of fairness says that if you can spin to win an election (and obviously you can and do) then we can spin to win an election. I've already suggested that attempting to blame the attack on the video was absolutely stupid (so is about 95 % of the spin we get handed to us by all sides) but the plain fact is that if you really do think that Islam is this beast, why didn't GWB lead the attack in response to 911 on the home of Islam - Saudia Arabia? or on the number one -
If you read the story, you'd know that this has little to nothing to do with Obama and his business acumen. That the project that is involved was essentially a subsidy to companies like Frito Lay and Coca-Cola for a demonstration project on the replacement of their gasoline powered delivery vehicles; that 480 of the 520 trucks in the demonstration project had been delivered and $2.5 million in subsidies remain to be distributed based on the 40 remaining trucks to be delivered. You'd also understand that part of the problem was not the market for the products but rather awareness of the ma

The GOP controlled both houses of Congress from 1994 until January 2007 and the white house from 2000 until January 20, 2009. Nothing they didn't want to happen, happened as a result. To say otherwise is dodging, ducking responsibility ... which I have to say you guys are really good at. George Patton "Pat" Hughes -

Ken Melhman, who was the campaign manager for Bush-Cheney and also RNC chairman in 2005 is one source: He said on tape in a 2005 Frontline Interview which talked about why the GOP was at the dawn of a long-term political realignment where they would be dominant for 30+ years was transcribed: The belief was that African-American and Latino voters were inherently socially conservative (on issues like gay marriage, choice, etc) and if they were given the stability of home ownership in the suburbs - making that element of financial security a reality for increasing numbers would thwar -

First, when GWB relinquished the reigns of government on January 20, 2009 to Obama, the country was on the brink of a financial collapse and today we're not. I would suggest the trillions spend on the Iraq war, the bubble in housing caused by the administration's buying into the idea that they could turn the population Republican by giving them a house and a mortgage and any number of other things including turning a blind eye to issues ranging from the environment to immigration was the source of the weakness. The only thing I can do positively is suggest that I appreciate the imaginat -

I should have said beating dead horses. There has been a tremendous amount of investigation regarding that unfortunate tragedy. I've already suggested they were absolutely stupid to have attempted to cover it up by suggesting the blame lay on on idiot whose stupidity was monumental in releasing such a hate-filled video. Cmorg... the whole reaction of the GOP to this administration has been - you can't do nothing right. This approach is so obvious that in my book the opposition, by crying wolf time and time and time and time again when there was nothing, has just lost all credibility. -

Another rant from the Rome was built in a day crowd that want their guy in and their guy in now. (The ironies are that obamacare was modeled after Romney care and when GWB was asleep at the wheel and caught off guard by a al queda attack 3,000 people died on US soil while when Obama's administration was caught off guard and attacked by al queda, the death toll was four.) Oklahoma botches execution with untested drug cocktail

see below: I didn't think that you did care. I'm sure the feeling is mutual on this topic. From my perspective, their thoughts are informative and, like anyone, you'd embrace them if they supported you. In this case, it points to their lack of enthusiasm. But hey, you know the brits eliminated slavery in 1808 and by royal edict while, of course, we had to have a civil war. The critical point though is that I'm personally a lot more concerned about the constitutional violation of cruel and unusual punishment which is something that was actually in the Oklahoma courts at the time. -

Are you telling me that Todd Pownall was not aware of this too? I mean Todd has never been refused an opportunity to let me stick a camera in his face and record him for a news piece. If this was as big a deal as you say it was, he must have been aware but while he was out there obviously talking about his problems with the increasing bond issue for the courthouse in the 2008 meeting; he was as mum as a ten year old cadaver in July 2012. Heck, this was when your other champion, Tony Crowe, was on the ballot challenging for commission chairman. Where was Tony? Heck, I tried and tri -

Then ask me about them Whitey. Right here, right now. I'll get you an answer. As far as Patti, the thing that impressed me most about her dedication to Post 2 was her comment to the Democrats about a month ago when she said that she's running because she can't sell the house she inherited from her parents for enough money to retire to Tuscany. Such dedication from someone who has lowered herself to becoming a politician. Oh, and what I was doing instead of posting your public hearing pdf? I was down in the basement working on the studio setup so I could invite Patti for a show. -

I remember that incident, I was there. We had a story on pcom as well. I think you folks need to consider the role of the General Assembly in setting the dates for the primaries when you look at issues like this. This primary was slated to be right during the budget making time and obviously Jerry pulled a slick one and avoided any tax increase by dipping into the county's reserves to pay the first year interest on the new courthouse. Todd, of course, was being obtuse as well. The 280 percent property tax increase he was speaking of related only to the bond-portion of the budget. I' -
Paulding County's only taxi company is under attack

Now I'm quite supportive of small businesses like the taxi service but local government is under a great deal of pressure from surrounding jurisdictions to 'regulate' the taxi industry because of the level or regulations that exist in other counties. The issue is that 'nothing is really quite that simple' and when folks in local government - elected or staff - look around at what the other jurisdictions are doing, they say, wow ... we need to do that too. And I think even the folks at United Taxi here in the county would agree, they want some regulation ... but regulations that are tai- 40 replies

I'm shocked, shocked, that you, guard dad did this to LPPT. I would have thought that glassdogs would have made this post. I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. LPPT doesn't insult people; she will slam back when insulted though. And that really shouldn't surprise you... as most people not only react the same way for the same reasons but they are justified for doing so. There were numerous meetings on taxes. If they had a meeting on election night, given the number of people milling around the courthouse looking for the posted election results, I would think that would be the worst time to hold a secret meeting and comply with the law by posting the sign. I don't recall your man Todd making a fuss about that meeting or it being secret. Why was he so compliant in those days? Are you sure he wasn't there? You have to know Whitey if this is as you say, why is it that Todd did not make a stink about it that time. Certainly, had he come by and said, -
I don't recall the first indictment regarding the Speaker and I think you've given Bill Heath's campaign literature too much credibility. Further I think after the last reports regarding the fractured rock underneath the Richland Creek property, we'd all been definitely better off had the West Georgia Regional Water system had gotten its lake. Let me make a remark in a vein similar to the one I did for ceejay ... so to insult you Zorro ... I'll call you a liberal .............

For those who are interested in what is referenced as the Pat and Patti show - it begins at about the 40:00 minute mark in the video above. In reviewing the tape, I did want to clarify my response to the second message. The question referred to the Tax Payers Bill of Rights legislation passed by Roy Barnes in the early years of the century. That law required county governments to state that based on the rise of the tax digest, that county government would have to state that even when they kept the same millage rate, they would have to declare a tax increase if the digest's value increase
