  1. So do the math... EVEN IF the Airport succeeded in hitting the 1,000,000 passenger mark in a year that breaks down to only 7 to 10 flights in a day...
  2. "Diversion from the real issue, a perfectly legitimate tactic. Those DC politicians use it all the time" You are so right and your group has learned well the tactic...they divert EVERY positive post back to: Others who have filed lawsuits and the county The EXAGGERATED take offs and Landing numbers you use The objection to having the entire County made aware of FACTS thru a County-wide mailing The NOISE issues related to the flights that DO NOT EXIST the comparison of the Airport to other County projects Need any more?
  3. I completely agree with what you said...If ANYONE feels they have been wronged by all means seek fair and legal restitution, a GOOD example seems to be the poster "SUREPIP" who keeps bringing up his / her lawsuit against the county. They have stated numerous times that they are paying their OWN legal fees. Your example of "elevator gas" is exactly what we WOULD have had if not for OUTSIDE intervention...it matters NOT if it is The City of Atlanta and Kaseem Reed or if it's Delta...by having the bigger bucks to throw around it gives this group of 5 or 6 the opportunity to exploit the situat
  4. BETTER YET! HOW bout...Identify the Paulding 6 and how much THEY have paid into this frivolous lawsuit!
  5. Take a minute and view this link... http://visitdouglasv...dex.aspx?NID=35 NOW remove from your thoughts, any reference to "CONVENTIONS" and think...wedding usage, school graduation use, meeting space for small businesses with a need for 15 to 25+ (Insurance folks, Real Estate office, Car dealerships for training, etc.), then think if located properly...the new hospital, ANY type of business exhibit space, lunch meetings (again for small business 15 to 25+) AND then the uses that "Mysterious" posted about! You panicked when you saw yet ANOTHER progressive project that business can use...t
  6. Comments like yours are WHY it's impossible to have rational business discussions.
  7. I was trying to find some common ground that everyone could agree on, like you I am basically opposed to the town hall meeting set-up, primarily due to space constraints. It appears several posters are determined to agree on NOTHING unless it makes their opinions 100% valid!
  8. One battle at a time! Frankly your issues with the county and your suit have NOTHING to do with the Paulding airport / Silver Comet Field yet no matter what the topic of the post you manage to take up space and bring it into the discussion to give you a sounding board against the commissioners. If I remember correctly you even brought it up in the post about the event center, give it a rest! The only part of your suit that should be mentioned is that you as a Paulding County resident sued the county for something that was done and you had the resolve and determination to do it USING YOUR OW
  9. I'm sure you are aware of the low voter turnout Paulding County elections can draw. Plus there is no assurance that everyone would be aware of the issues and take the time to go vote. A mailing on the other hand to EVERY registered person on say the tax records would at least get material into the home for folks to look at, if they then don't take the time to respond so be it but at least they had the opportunity. There are 147,500+ in this county now and I bet you less than 25,000 would go to the polls! How could a mailing, if done by a committee of citizens who have input on both the f
  10. No more than any other Paulding County resident BUT it would sure be nice to have this suggested to the commissioners as a way to gauge the TRUE atmosphere of how Paulding County folks look at the airport. Any mailing service can get a cost associated with a project such as this and then that could be presented to the commissioners. All they can say is NO! and then I would be the first to question why they would not want to see what Paulding County actually thinks. It would be nice to see input from travel agents that specialize in leisure travel give some input as to how many of their
  11. I only asked a question that you still didn't answer...Would you agree to a meeting where the moderator is selected by the commissioners? and a meeting between us is a waste of time as neither of us have the authority to set up meetings on behalf of the commissioners. A mass mailing to EVERYONE in the county would get the numbers you say you are actually curious about, then everyone could see how many folks took the time to mail them back and what their responses and concerns are.
  12. I completely agree as to the meetings and that's why I suggested early on that a blind mailing to ALL Paulding County residents keeps it neutral, informative and accurate. That however takes away the opportunity you reference of being able to "stack the room" BUT it does give credence as to why Paulding needs a large event center!
  13. Instead of insulting me...Would you agree to a meeting where the moderator is selected by the commissioners?
  14. You actually hit on some GREAT ideas!!! I said from the start that it should be a community / event style facility, the term "conference center" was being loosely thrown around. An indoor pool would be a HUGE success for the county as NONE of the schools currently have one and the kids have to go out of county to compete. We just have to be careful in design as the business use portion needs to be seperate from the swimming / track area so both sides could be used at the same time. You are correct that a fee for use will offset associated cost. Now we are getting positive thinking!
  15. Hmmm! I don't know about that...with the distrust this group has with the commissioners at this point, not sure ANYONE selected by one of the commissioners would be considered "neutral"...and before you ask...I do not have the answer to this!
  16. This discussion is really devolving into one a person might have with a small child that hasn't gotten his way. PC residents have every right to file a lawsuit against the Airport Authority, IBA, etc. to protect what they feel may be harmed by this Propeller agreement. YES...you are correct, anyone can sue anybody BUT the problem here is WHO IS ACTUALLY SUING WHO...If it is actually the group named in the suit, and IF this group is actually paying for it themselves as Paulding COunty residents...that is one thing BUT if it is the City of Atlanta or Delta paying for the suit then that needs to
  17. The only thing I would suggest that your proposal needs is SOMEHOW each meeting needs a "host" or "neutral moderator" to insure the format is adhered to.
  18. NO PROBLEM THERE! Have the current suit cancelled and refiled so it can be billed that way!
  19. You exaggerate...WHERE!, make assumptions...AGAIN WHERE!, attempt to insult...I DID NOT and now you are making accusations you can't back-up...AGAIN WHERE!. The biggest exaggeration being thrown loosely around here is the HUNDREDS of DAILY flights coming and going at the AIRPORT!!!, when everyone knows the only thing being discussed is LIMITED commercial flights...even saying 3 a day is probably high!
  20. If they scheduled town hall style meetings, Would you agree that at EACH meeting within EACH post the speakers and attendees could ONLY be residents of THAT post commissioners area? Point being so 5 or 6 folks from only one area can't take over the meeting and the commissioner can actually get a true reading of how HIS areas voters feel.
  21. The FIRST AMENDMENT does NOT say I have to pay for someone else to voice his / her opinion!!!
  22. Do you doubt that commercial service would make homes at the end of the runway unlivable? YES I completely disagree that the VERY LIMITED amount of commercial service being discussed will make your home "unlivable"...that is a ridiculous statement to make! Please don't ever doubt that my main concern is the noise associated with 737s whizzing overhead and how much jet fuel is currently in my well water. Interesting you mention these two issues which could EASILY be addressed without a lawsuit, while virtually every other post from your group of 5 or 6 keep referencing the fact t
  23. I remember not so long ago when the same group was using the same words to describe Jerry Shearin and his administration...King Jerry this and King Jerry that! and now here ya'll go again except now it's King David and Prince Boyd! GOOD LORD folks...get a grip! YES...the County (any county) has to have a governing board... YES...the County commission is the governing body of Paulding County (again as in any County) YES...As the County Commision Chairman David Austin & Boyd Austin as Mayor of Dallas hold positions of authority (again as in any County) YES...Both David Austin &
  24. There is a HUGE difference...PINEWOOD ATLANTA is a Full Service film studio with 5 sound stages...totaling 100,000 sq ft and 300,000 sq ft of workshop & production space sitting on 288 acres. This was designed and built from the ground up! While the PAULDING Studio is a converted office bldg with two 20,000 sq ft sound stages and 35,000 sq ft of Mill, production and office space. It is located on 11 acres.
  25. "And why don't y'all get you a list of county vendors for the airport alone, and then see how many of them show up on the contribution lists for the elected officials." We keep hearing how bad the airport is going to be for houses that lie within the takeoff / landing area...How expanding to include commercial passenger flights will INCREASE both the noise and amount of flights and THIS is the reason there should be no airport expansion. If that is truly the case then how does your comment even fit into the subject? Someone has a business...say an office supply company or a copier servic
