  1. It's one thing to be watchful and to be sure folks are accountable for their actions BUT to say you NEVER trust a politician is VERY cynical. I will grant you the current group in Washington makes us all wonder where our country is heading BUT on a local county level it's a bit easier to control. As I have put in several other post...if you (or anyone) doesn't like how things are being run...PUT YOUR NAME ON THE NEXT BALLOT! In our county of 147,000+ many times a few hundred votes can be the difference!
  2. While this has NOTHING to do with an event center I am also curious if anyone involved with the film studio even contacted Pinewoods about the Paulding facility. There are way too many films being shot in Ga for our studio to be sitting virtually empty.
  3. You asked the question.... "Does uncle Jerry own the land where they want the Convention center to go?" I was only suggesting that as long as the land was made available a a good price...WHO CARES!
  4. I see you give the Economic Development Office an A+ and say you even support spec building to attract FUTURE manufacturing business to the park. Well CONGRATULATIONS! That actually makes sense! That is exactly how the county should react and move forward to both attract and develop the industrial park. That is ALSO the driving force behind expanding the Airport and building a true functioning business event center. NOTHING is a guarantee, folks just have to make the best decisions they can and that is what this administration has tried to do.
  5. To continue bring Surpip's personal lawsuit into post concerning the Airport just shows that the Airport is NOT the real issue your group is concerned with!
  6. If the land can be purchased at "fair market value" comparable to recent sales of surrounding tracts...why does it matter WHO OWNS THE LAND??? As far as I can see a location hasn't been selected anyway for the facility, but once again your disdain for a previous commissioner muddies the water for a fair assessment of the feasibility and or success for the project.
  7. APPLES & ORANGES!!! His Personal lawsuit with the county has NOTHING to do with the Airport!
  8. "Our names are on the checks"...Sure they are! Care to prove that! Those are also OUR tax dollars and 5 or 6 folks DO NOT speak for a county of over 147,000! Sorry but THAT is the real problem here! I think another of your group stated what everyone has known all along...the ONLY thing they want is to BREAK THE COUNTY! Just to show the folks they didn't vote for they can! Really has little to do with the airport, this just gave them the issue to use for the lawsuit! MOVING PAULDING FORWARD !!!
  9. I had to sit back and read this post OVER & OVER to really believe a Paulding County resident would say something like this! This is WHY the folks elected to perform these jobs WILL NOT do the town hall style meetings ya'll keep asking for...WHO in their right mind wants to get up in front of a group and be called "a holes"... You then make the UNBELIEVABLE statement " I hope it breaks the county because all they have to do is give up"...You actually WANT your county that you live in (or do you?) to go broke and not be able to pay county employees, fire & sheriff's personnel, sc
  10. GREAT!!! You have been one of the MOST VOCAL on here concerning the venture...You say in this post "I stand behind you and I have your back"...So are you also helping fund the MYSTERIOUS $$$$ these attorneys are receiving or is your "support" simply banter?
  11. I suggest you go back and re-read my post, I have responded to MANY other post. As far as when I joined, I have been reading post on here for YEARS but your group and it's arrogance in sounding like you represent a large portion ,if not all of Paulding, instead of the actual handful you are finally got to me and I felt I HAD to jump in and voice the factual side to the issue. NEWS FLASH...The airport is a DONE DEAL...the FAA environmental study is but a minor issue to be addressed before they sign off.
  12. I am NOT going to be "diverted" as ya'll love to do away from the actual issue. The ISSUE is the Airport and is passenger traffic GOOD or BAD for Paulding County. Because your small group has no valid argument for why passenger service would not be good for Paulding you argue that it must be BECAUSE the basic deal was struck without you being allowed input. I strongly disagree in that the deal was struck by folks we as the citizens of Paulding elected to do just this, if you don't like what they are doing the way to handle that is coming up...RUN FOR OFFICE against them...see how you like b
  13. We are ALMOST saying the same thing...I completely agree that the county DOES NOT need to be involved in ANY kind of Hotel but the Event center (or whatever you want to call it) needs to be a County owned facility. This needs to be separate totally from any other development and will not take any special experience other than management to run. Go back and read the link another poster put up about the Douglasville facility.
  14. It's NOT a covert deal simply because TODD decided not to read his emails...
  15. I realize this however if Paulding County continues to allow a handful of folks to contest EVERYTHING that is done to move the county forward this is how both individuals and businesses will perceive the county actually is and they will go elsewhere. We are not and never will again be a county of 27,000 or so...that ship has sailed and we HAVE to address the issues at hand in a rational manner. I posted that link in response to a couple of earlier post and with a mild attempt at humor...Nothing more, nothing less!
  16. I personally DO NOT believe any of this was a "BACK DOOR DEAL" as I fully believe Todd knew as much about the discussions and progression of the deal as any of the other commissioners. The emails released 100% show that he was "in the loop". The actual negotiations I compare to the Braves moving to Cobb, they deal had to be put in place before breaking the news or have the chance of losing out to another county. Once the BASIC deal was in place THEN the specifics and ancillary details can be worked out in public meetings. Without the panic lawsuit sidetracking the commissioners and the
  17. You make some very good points and a survey / feasibility study could be valuable as a tool to promote the facility. I think for this to work and prosper it needs to be a split venture...The county NEEDS to own the event center but anything else such as a hotel or any entertainment type facility needs to be done by private companies. As the Hospital opens and the surrounding area begins to develop it would seem only natural for an upscale hotel to build close by.
  18. EASY...Your Post #316 You screamed at me in BOLD Colored fonts. I would say that's going after the poster and not discussing the topic!
  19. Interesting...If someone DISAGREES with you or your views...then they are a TROLL...What I am is a concerned Paulding County resident who owns a home I occupy and a second home I am currently forced to rent due to the downturn in the Real Estate market. I can see the reality of Paulding being a bedroom community and having virtually nothing as far as a business tax base. I am 100% for growing business in the county and will actively promote that cause. When the news broke about the planned airport expansion and the post began on here ( I have been an active reader of Paulding.com for years
  20. The "POSTER" is right here and if you read enough of the post I make you will find that while they may be DIRECT and to the point, they will also be as true and factual as I can possibly make them. I have called Paulding County home for many years now and baring some odd turn of events (say winning a $600 Million Lottery) I plan to remain here. I see nothing but positives coming out of the Airport expansion and a limited passenger service and see a HUGE need for the local businesses for an event center. If a small group is going to be vocal and claim to represent the county I certainly
  21. Good, So you would also agree that industrial expansion at the airport could & would ALSO increase flights and you are agreeing to this? I am completely amazed that this group of folks have so blown this LIMITED passenger flight issue into the firestorm they have. It is in NO WAY going to ever be ANYTHING like they are claiming it will. What they are saying is MEDIA BITES that sound good for the lawsuit and for the NEWS channels. I think that's what upsets so many folks is how this group has forced the county to WASTE $$$$ defending this lawsuit. We as Paulding citizens KNOW who is
  22. Got that right here and read it for the first time in the 70's...It does however have NOTHING to do with either our Airport of the Convention Center!
