LisaC in the post immediately after yours states she "Is not opposed to the airport"...I certainly am all for the Airport as are many other posters on here...I grabbed a coffee yesterday at Chick FIl A in Hiram and got to talking with some folks at the next table, one lady didn't even know we had an airport, the two men at the table BOTH said they fly at least twice a year and would LOVE to have commercial flights available here. The problem is "Radiohead" you are assuming because until of late no one was disagreeing with your group ya'll were right. Well guess what? You are NOT and the air

Are you for or against the airport?

Todd really has you "drinking his Kool-Aid"...Are you related to him? On his payroll? -
LOL!...Now that's funny! Look I'll be HAPPY to engage in rational discussion concerning the Airport venture...that's what got me posting to begin with...but I lose both interest and patience when I see the same 5 or 6 posters making the same arguments over and over and not being even the least bit open to any discussion on middle ground. I get VERY frustrated when I see several of the posters say they are only interested in making sure they git rid of EVERY current county politician and state that they want to bankrupt the county over the lawsuit! As a fairly long time Paulding County

OK...I feel I want to ask something...I am sure you realize that the Airport is going to go forward, that the current commissioners are going to remain in office (and more than likely get re-elected), that the Chamber, the AA, the IBA and such are going to continue on, your suit notwithstanding...what do you ACTUALLY expect to occur from all the debate, discussion on here and even the lawsuit and it's "settlement"?

Really couldn't give a rat if I "crossed a line" with you...don't grasp at a straw...I was injecting a bit of admittedly Politically incorrect humor...in response to the post that called you "special"...Nothing more, nothing less! This is a GREAT example of why I hadn't posted previously and why many others don't, you want to make mountains out of molehills!

I agree. Deleted!

Be REAL...At the time the Old Senior Center was built Paulding was a sleepy community of barely 23,000 (+-) run by a SINGLE COMMISSIONER style Govt. The "business district" as such was Downtown Dallas and Hiram HAD NOTHING but a couple of BBQ joints and a Catfish Restaurant! The Business district has since shifted and spread out to cover basically all corners of the county and that is why the EVENT CENTER has to be centrally located AND YES I think the County can successfully BUILD, MANAGE and RUN such a facility. I am not as large a cynic as many on here seem to be. KEEP MOVIN

You are correct, this is a beautiful facility and looks to be a wonderful location for a wedding...(we have several others also in Paulding) BUT that is not the kind of facility that is needed for the Business community. The weddings mentioned in previous post were to show MANY uses for the event center with Wedding receptions being only a small % of the total use. The bldg has to be constructed / designed to fit many different venues of many different sizes...a large open space of square footage is needed for business uses as seen in this picture: A true event center designed fo

The Event Center and the Airport are TWO totally different projects! Please don't try to mix them together, the Airport is ALREADY located where it is and was put there for a reason. The Event Center, a yet to be built facility, can be centered where it is most needed. You only have to look as far as the Old Senior Center to see how bad location can be if allowed.

You raise an interesting suggestion IF we could get the Board of Education to agree...My concern has been the limited seating and location for the small "town hall" style meetings BUT if the meetings could be held at EACH of the High Schools auditoriums this would give folks in ALL CORNERS of the county an opportunity to get better up to speed on what is going on AND to voice their opinions. This is what is needed as many folks are clueless as to what is going on and you are VERY correct that OUTSIDE influences and their monies will poison the media with one sides views, as has already happen

I have NO IDEA who selected the location for the retreat you reference HOWEVER my first thought is they wanted to go outside of county to avoid publicity until the deal was finalized...I know, I know now you are going to say SECRET DEALS, NO TRANSPARENCY, etc. Without being involved I don't know the answer to that BUT I would say I would have liked them to have spent the $$$ IN PAULDING if possible! You are correct, this is a beautiful facility and looks to be a wonderful location for a wedding...(we have several others also in Paulding) BUT that is not the kind of facility that is needed fo

You want to educate the public. There is an opportunity for that. I read your post on another topic offering to moderate a meeting...That's is commendable of you, HOWEVER PAULDING is a county of over 150,000+ folks now and has nowhere within the county to hold a meeting such as you suggest. The ONLY facility currently in the county with an auditorium of any size is Chat Tech and I question if they would allow this to be held there. I know there were some election related Q & A's held there a few years ago but it was basically a farce as the room was filled with folks ALREADY supporti

The "Keep Paulding in the 70's" airport group of 6, with you especially, seem so focused on worrying about WHO the posters are making POSITIVE, GROWTH ORIENTED comments instead of trying to work WITH our local officials and show folks that PAULDING COUNTY can get behind this and make it a success. AMAZING!!!! With that said, I think they (along with the bulk of the business community) realize that the "SENIOR CENTER" is just that...it's an antiquated building located so far off the beaten path that if you ask 10 people in the county 9 will not even know what you are talking about or where

Your group has done a excellent job of confusing the issue. Well you finally made a concise and honest statement! Except you confused MY post with YOUR GROUPS POST!!! It does not matter who is providing the money, What matters is was everything done by the Paulding County Airport Authority done according to the laws of the State of Georgia. I don't know how many times I have to say this BUT it DOES MATTER who is funding the lawsuit IF my local tax $$ have to be spent to defend it! Still trying to put words in my mouth...I didn't say your group MADE IT UP, only that I had

You make my point FOR ME...The Douglasville center IS located away from what would now be considered the main Douglas County business district, has major parking issues, contends with constant noise from the trains, yet is a HUGE SUCCESS with a waiting list for many weekend dates! The School graduations are only ONE school function a community center could host and it would eliminate having to hold them outside in bad weather conditions. Basically what the new event center would do is REPLACE the antiquated Senior Center currently being used for many countywide events. Again, this absolu

Hey...You jumped on ME FIRST! I was only responding to you! If you actually have the business background you claim then you know what the event center needs...but I'll play the game...the old hospital bldg is just that an old bldg, it is not centrally located, not configured anywhere near what's needed it's a money pit waiting to happen. For the event center to be feasible and workable it has to be located somewhere along Dallas Hwy or 278 to work for the Hiram / Dallas residents and merchants use.

Recalling Paulding Airport's October Surprise

Well there is a HUGE difference in...blindly following/excusing the BoC...and in agreeing with a business decision they have made on behalf of the MAJORITY of Paulding County residents! I moved here in the late 80's and own two homes in the county so I feel I have a voice also! I remember many of the attacks on Jerry Shearin and his administration when he was in office and now the same group is attacking David Austin and his administration...Some folks are NEVER SATISFIED! yet refuse to put their names on a ballot! Now let me be the first to say before I get blindsided that I disagreed -

But a series of Town Hall Type meetings in every commissioners post followed by the polls being opened for at least three days in every prescient would be a plebiscite right??? "Whitey"…I have NEVER seen anyone use as much space as you to try and make a point when all you are doing is posting repetitious and convoluted comments as well as cutting and pasting from previous posters! You seem completely focused not on whether the Airport is good or bad for Paulding County and the local economy, or whether regardless of how we got to this point, that the Airport is here and we need to make -
You want SAME OLE' SAME OLE'...read 99% of WHITEY's post!!!

Work it yourself... take the Million per year... divide by 52 weeks... divide by 7 days... then it comes down to how many folks are on each plane... not that hard! The BIGGEST thing to realize is that this will take YEARS to get to it will not happen overnight!
-
WHOA!!! I used the Million per number as a comparison for flight numbers BUT the Million per year figure is used by YOUR group in MANY previous post. That is where I got it from!
