Subby, Using the system you paid into to get you through a time when you are unemployed is necessary. EBT is also something you have paid into. When you are a willing and able person who is legitimately seeking to work but have to get past a rough patch its understandable and should never be looked down upon. I respectfully disagree that these people are uncommon. The conservatives you describe are the Tea Party and they are a vast group, I am one of them. Obama has been spiking the football today making an A$$ out of himself. Wait till Obamacare kicks in and the rest of the country understands why this fight was necessary. Also Obama was complaining about the money lost. The only money lost was in Washington D.C. and God knows they dont need anymore money, that place is loaded.

No doubt about it. I would say out of the 150 returns I prepared that year probably 50 of them were EIC Returns. They are always the first to come in and get it done. EIC is nothing but a welfare check in different form. When we live in the greatest country for employment opportunity it sure is hard to watch. These folks put more effort into scamming than into living a life of honesty. No wonder there are so many out there with a evil soul.

The reason I say they dont need to go to jail is because it is set up purposely for them to cheat. The government knows this and allows it. The IRS is not going to go after these folks nor do they plan on fixing the system because it keeps these people from feeding more off the government. Like someone said.....We do not want to take custody of the kids nor fill our prisons full of slackers. Did they break the law? Yep they sure did but do we want to take on their lives.....nah, I would rather them get their 4K in money and live their pathetic lives.

Sally and Betty dont need to go to jail. The government makes it easy to cheat purposely. As for the selling of food stamps for drugs.....dont know about the drug part but if you watch some documentaries on You Tube about Food stamp scams you will get the truth about what is going on in New York and New Jersey. If you are collecting food stamps and using them for your kids because of a temporary situation I am glad you getting them. If you have been on them more than a year then I would say, get off the dole.

Yep, you do have to have income to get the EIC. Let me give you an example of one return I did. This guy comes in and says he has a house full of kids but only made 14K last year. He is getting maximum return but has no Federal Tax Bill....he paid zero to the Feds. In other words he gets all the taxes back from the Feds that he paid in to them. On top of that he qualifies for the EIC. I asked him. "How do you get by on 14K a year with that many kids?" He said that is just what he reports he makes. Actually he makes about 50K a year cleaning carpet and only reports the 14K otherwise

They dont use the same social security number for two returns. What they do it maximize the income by allowing other people to use a kid or two of theirs on other people's returns to be able to file for the Earned Income Credit. For example. Sally has 8 kids and Betty has none. Sally gives Betty a couple of social security numbers to claim as dependents so she can qualify for the earned income credit. Sally splits the money with Betty and at the same time gets her own EIC check. So instead of getting 4K, she now gets 6 K and Betty gets 2K.

Why should they not pay H&R Block? They are doing it with your money, not theirs.
