  1. The union topic was indeed about labor unions in LA.
  2. Let me help you out [XXXXXX]. The original post contained: Clearly this topic was about labor unions asking for exemptions to the LA's new minimum wage law. Understand now?
  3. Seriously, I want to hear different points of views on this. I'm currently working on my MBA with a concentration in Human Resource Management. All my research and materials shows a decline in union membership in the private sector over the past 40 years. In our discussions in class as well as in our lectures, the point is often brought up how people have come to perceive unions as a significant contribution to the decline. Take for example how the unionization was defeated at the VW plant in Chattanooga last year, even while management of VW supported having employees in a union. Read ar
  4. This just serves to demonstrate you seriously lack character and integrity to accuse me of lying in this matter.
  5. This appears that you are calling me a liar when I say I have black friends. My father spent a career in the Army. I grew up with people of many different races as some of my best friends. We played together, ate and spent the night at each others homes. Color didn't mean anything to us. What matter was character. None of that changed during my adult life either as I continued to have friends from different races. We celebrated many happy events together and we grieved together over the losses of loved ones. I'll make it no secret that I do not like you and it has nothing to do with yo
  6. It was wrong of them to do that. They should have used his name.
  7. My black friends and I have shared many meals together at each others homes and done many things together. What's your point? I get it, you are trying to insinuate black people are only my friends up to a certain limit. You failed.
  8. Stick with the topic here as we're talking about unions who represent labor in different workplaces, i.e. the UAW, Teamsters, AFL-CIO, and other labor unions.
  9. The question is if blacks find the word so offensive, then why do such a large number of them use it? Why is it so prevalent in rap songs by black artists? Their use of it sends mixed messages.
  10. I'm really sorry to hear this. He has been through so much with his health in such a short period of time. I know what the family is going through as I went through something very similar with my mother recently. The poor gal had surgery 3 times in 5 months for hernia repairs and then a month after the last surgery, she had to have another for an obstructed colon that was followed by a blood infection. Mom is 80 and it was a really rough time for her.
  11. Congratulations to your grandson! Now the rest of his life begins with new adventures!
  12. I'm interested in hearing why you think it's unfortunate for union membership to have declined.
  13. It's good you don't use any racial epithets. Do you see anything wrong with black people calling each other the n-word? I have quite a few good friends who are black. I asked one once why some blacks call each other the n-word. He said because they use it with each other as a term of endearment, but when white people call a black person the n-word it is highly offensive. I asked him if he found that to be hypocritical to which he replied "very much so." He said as long as black people continue to use the word with each other, it will always be around. He says the biggest offenders are r
  14. Face it; you're trying to make more out of what he said than what he said. You're looking for a way to make him out to be a racist and it just isn't there. That's the problem with many of you on the left. You're trying to see racism where it isn't because you don't want racism to be dead.
  15. Union membership in the private sector has been on the decline for 40 years. More and more people just don't seem to see them as needed much anymore and for good reason. Many people also view them as a negative now as well.
  16. I think his point went over your head. He said he found the word offensive. What he didn't agree with was how black people call each other the n-word and think nothing of it, but not when someone of another race does; which makes them sound hypocritical.
  17. It will be interesting to see if they get the exemption.
  18. The $346 billion we are spending each year on the health care of illegal immigrants equals 69% of the $503 billion defense budget. Look at the money we would save if we forced the illegals to leave. We could easily force them to leave if we simply enforced the laws we had and punished those who hire them.
  19. You know darn well I am referring to those that you pay on your income to the federal government where millions of people in this country get 100% or more of what was deducted from their checks back in the form of a refund check. News flash for you as well; the cost of drivers, marriage, fishing, hunting concealed weapons permits and building permits are not a tax. Those are fees. Me too.
  20. Actually, I wouldn't have a problem telling that joke in front of a black audience. I put the same one on my FB page and those friends of mine who are black, thought it was funny. In fact, some of them shared it on their FB pages.
  21. Is that like paying taxes while other people sit on their asses collecting a welfare check from the government?
  22. Jeff Foxworthy is a very funny man.
