  1. Two things about this store.

    1. They will hustle to get some cashiers up and running if a line forms

Not at the Hiram location. At least, not in my experience. I got so ticked off whenever I went in there that I just don't bother anymore. Not that I shop at Wal-Mart that much either but, the Target situation is ridiculous. None of the other Target locations that I have been in are anywhere near as bad as Hiram.

  2. Can someone please explain why 2 out of 4 self check-out registers would be closed at the worlds largest retailer? Are they that unreliable that 2 of them would be broke at the same time? Do they get a day off to rest and relax or perhaps they were on a coffee break? This is a small annoyance that ticks me off. What ticks you off?

Even worse than that for me ... the "bullseye" store has about 15,000 registers and never has more than 3-4 of them open. WTH is that about?

  3. Here's a new thought: The annual flu vaccine does not protect against every strain, right? And before flu vaccines were available (not that long ago), strains were going around. Noone freaked out then, or even now about the strains that aren't covered in the vaccine. Why is this one getting all the attention? My husband got very ill last year from a flu strain that wasn't covered in the vaccine - a lot of people did. Happens every year. Just don't get why we're getting inundated with the fear factor on this.

A couple of years ago, the main flu strain that ended up going around was not one of the ones in the vaccine. It did get quite a bit of media coverage but, nothing at all like this.

I can't help but wonder if the over-reaction is because of how many of the known cases ended in death in Mexico. For whatever the reason(s), the cases in Mexico seem to be much worse than the ones elsewhere.

  4. WOW sorry. I lost 2 of my best fish to roaming dogs. They were both foot long KOI.

Ouch ... that was a pricey buffet.

what makes this situation even worse for me ... 1 1/2 hours earlier I was thinking that I needed to get back out there. I just couldn't get the little one to cooperate. I'm almost positive that all would have been fine if I'd made it out there then.

  5. I managed to kill my best fish.

I was cleaning out one of the garden ponds and put all of the fish in a muck bucket filled 2/3 full of water from the pond. Pretty much the way I always do it. The problem this time ... I ended up having to leave them in it too long. Then had to run out and put a cover on it to keep the [insert long string of expletives here] stray/free-roaming cats from eating them. By the time I got the chance to get back out, it was too late. Any of a hundred different things could be blamed (temp, oxygen level, stress, etc.) but the end result is the same ... my beautiful 9-10 inch white with calico spots shubunkin died. :(

  6. It's an avocation for a SAHM, not a business.

I barely charge over my expenses. This is more like a labor of love.

    I'm sorry I asked.

Sorry ... I wasn't intending to pick on you. Just pointing out that there will be lots of people who ask about that sort of thing. And "business" is a catch-all name. Lots of the crafters here don't consider themselves a business. Also, any time there is a new category created amongst a group of people you will have others asking "what about ... ?" Pubby will certainly need to consider that and it is good that you asked.

(Geez ... is my "piss people off" key stuck today and I don't realize it? )

  7. Just a question?

What about an avocation that is a service and not a craft. I have been doing genealogy for years as a SAHM.

There is currently no commerce competition. (sheepish grin).

And there is the downside, Pubby ... you're going to have a lot of people asking about options for their type of small business.

  8. Gee, that might have been why I said likely, not DEFFINATELY. Wanna get out of my throat now??????

Just pointing out that the "likely" part was perhaps no the best choice of wording ... and I was never in your throat. Lighten up, Francis.

  9. Not quite, I have 2 shepard lab chow mixes right now. (I owned both parents) Also have had 2 Lab chow mixes. (knew the breeder and saw both parents) But you can believe what you want.

Oh and I didn't say is chow, I said likely. ;)

I'm not saying that chows don't throw the gene for the extra pigment but there are lots of dogs with black tongues or black spots/splotches that have no chow in them. So many people believe that any black on the tongue automatically means chow. And that's not true.

  11. My little one is pretty much still just into ponytails but she's starting to like clippies more. I think of the ones shown, she would most like this one:

Maybe try to come up with a few different animal/color choices, too. Not just the white/hello kitty.
