  1. Whether you want to admit it or not, the OP has a valid point about preparedness and dependency. One good ice storm could leave folks in this area without power or food supplies for a couple of weeks. Better to be safe than sorry.
  2. I agree that folks have become too dependent and most are unprepared for any sort of emergency. Total reliance on government, technology, and modern distribution systems is truly frightening. Less than 24 hours into this and some people lack even a modest 1 or 2 days of food and supplies. I saw many walking in frostbite conditions yesterday without a basic coat, hat, boots, or gloves. 3. Please stay home... North Hwy 61 is a mess, people are abandoning cars and walking.
  4. Proponents of the airport have suggested that Paulding will benefit from all those tourists visiting the Lake Point complex. The OP is correct, those tourists will be spending their money in Bartow. There is no reason for them to venture into Paulding. http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/306379-ceo-says-paulding-will-get-overflow-of-business-from-youth-sports-complex-read-more-neighbor-newsp/page__p__3865409__hl__%2Blake+%2Bpoint__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=3865409
  5. And while that short country commute maybe appealing to many of the 26,000 projected workers employed at the new complex, the tourists will flock North to already established commercial corridors in Cartersville and the very convenient I-75 interstate exits. There is simply nothing to attract those tourists down into Paulding.
  6. I live in North Paulding and I drive to Bartow on a regular basis. It takes me 30 minutes to reach the complex taking 61 or Dabbs Bridge. Tourists will not come to Paulding from Lake Point when they have numerous options for lodging and entertainment in close proximity. Exits 285 thru 290 will see the majority of those tourist dollars.
  7. You should look at a map of this complex and the surrounding commercial areas. Tourists will stick to areas that are conveniently located in proximity to the complex. They are not going to drive forty minutes out of the way for lodging or entertainment. North Paulding will see more houses and retail development whether you like it or not. The die has been cast.
  8. This venue includes numerous hotels and restaurants located within the complex, and there are many more hotels and restaurants at 75 exits both north and south.

  16. Watching the interview with John Dean and reading some of his opinions on this expansion, certainly seems to show a lack of due diligence on the part of the elected officials involved.

  20. The emergence of bio fuels in the coming "decades" does not negate nor address the current legitimate concern of nearby residents regarding groundwater contamination or air quality issues from aviation fuel.
  21. It is amusing to watch you paint yourself into a partisan corner. You have repeatedly tried to defend this fiasco of a law on one hand, and then attempt to turn around blame this awful mess on Republicans. Thanks to this Obama, there won't be any political will to push for single payer for at least the next 20 years.
