  1. It's funny to me to see this thread.

I just took out an auto loan this week with Member's First Credit Union (the one Raider Mom refers to in the KMart shopping center), and was very pleased. Kim who works there was wonderful, even staying open a few minutes later to give me time to get off my school bus and come in to close the loan! I had also approached Criedit Union of GA but they were no where near as nice to work with and could never talk to the same person twice. I would steer way clear of them. This is the first time I've ever used a credit union but would highly recommned Member's First.

  2. O.K., hope noone thinks I'm nuts, but.............................................

Deoderant, solid. I've done it for several years now and it always works. Someone at work told me about it. :ninja:

  3. Ice Cream, Orange Juice....drank lots of Orange Juice when I was pregnant with my little boy.

....Lived off of Tums & Rolaids.

Oh My Gosh!! Me too!! Orange juice and something cold and sweet with my son.

I fell in love with Martin's chocolate milkshakes. About my 6th month, I whipped into Martin's one afternoon around 3:30 for my daily shake and they were CLOSED. I nearly had a conniption. It was the first day they stopped staying open through supper. I had to go to McD's instead and was NOT a happy camper! Bet your sweet batooty I was there before closing the next day.

I also lived off of Tums for 9 whole months. Would love to do it all again tomorrow. Being pregnant and giving birth was the most miraculous event of my life! I'm so glad it's a woman thing and men can't really know how special it feels to us. Hope noone thinks that sounds selfish. I just think it kinda makes us women sisters in a way that they will never be able to know.

  4. I saw and heard her speak last week @ Cedarcrest. That was the 1st I have heard of her and I was really moved by her words. She seems VERY genuine.

She IS! She is a current school system employee who is willing to give up her job to serve on the school board. She has children currently in elementary and middle school here in the county and is ready to commit herself to serving ALL the students and families in our county. She believes in open communication with educators, parents and taxpayers. She is committed to working for change and accountability. She will be active! She is not one to just sit around and talk about things. She is a doer who will work diligently.

  5. If anybody would like to trap some coyotes and bring them over to my neighborhood, they would be very welcome. I'm tired of everyone's cats running loose all the time. I don't even keep the bird feeders out anymore because the poor birds don't stand a chance with all the roaming cats! I would LOVE to see a few cats disappear over my way!

  6. My daughter is an Aquarius. And BOY IS SHE AN AQUARIUS. It pegged her completely. Even she said so.

Yep, I'm an Aquarian also and it is pretty head/right on. ;)

  7. Thanks for the responses so far. I think I have a good direction where I am going to go with this. I am not going to give my children allowances for basic things like keeping their room clean, homework, and picking up after themselves. They do these things now when it needs to be done without an allowance and I agree, those should be things they do without being rewarded for them.

I do think I will make a list of “extras” that they can do if they like so that they will have an opportunity to receive small amounts of money to save. Of course I cover the basic necessities for my kids but I can’t buy every new doll, movie, etc that they want. Even if I could afford it, I wouldn’t buy these things because kids need to know they can’t get everything they want and to value what they have. But there are things that I know my girls would enjoy that aren’t a necessity but it would be useful for them and not just another toy tossed in their room…

    Awesome! Thanks again :D

I think you are on the right track with going this route. This is how I have always done with my now 11 year old son.

The only thing I would add is that I think it's important that they learn to put some away in savings and some in church offering/titheing or charitable donations. My son had 3 banks initially and as he has gotten older we have gone to three baggies.

When the savings one built up, we opened him a savings account at the bank. He has learned how to fill out deposit slips and go in at the bank and make his own deposits. He has also learned to balance his savings account ledger(like a check book ledger) and read his quarterly bank statements and add interest earned to the balance he is showing on his ledger.

  8. I think the biggest killer in a relationship is lack of communication. If the love is there and the relationship is truly what it should be, I believe it takes constant, open and honest communication. The partners have to be receptive of that. Lack of can kill any relationship.

  9. I have found a knee to the testicles to be highly effective.......

I'm short. My knees won't reach that high.

I don't mean to make light of a very serious and scarey situation. Thank you very much, HLS, for your concern for all women!
