  1. We love the pizza at the place behind Jim and Nick's but cancelled our order and walked out before our food came the last time we were there.

    I was sooo disappointed!

When we walked in the hostess handed us our menus and told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We walked around the whole place before finding a clean table back in the bar area and there were only like 4 or 5 other tables occupied in the place. Waited forever and finally flagged down a waitress to take our order. Went to the bathroom to wash up before eating and it was trashed. Paper all over the floor, no soap in the dispensers to wash with. That's when we cancelled our order and left. Decided BBQ would be even better than pizza that night and it was.

  2. This is so sad to wake up to. I loved his "The rest of the story" programs. I still get to hear his son Paul Harvey, Jr. on the Legend.

Yes, my son and I listen in most days on the way home from work and school. My son (12) thinks he's pretty cool which I think is great from the new generation. We would still hear Sr. a few days here and there. I'm glad my son will remember Mr. Harvey Sr. and at the same time have his son

to listen to in the future. What a great tradition! I began listening to him in the 70's. Maybe my son will still be listening to his son 30 years from now.

Rest in peace, Mr. Harvey, and as someone else posted: It sure would be nice to hear your "Rest of the Story" now. Perhaps we'll share it when we meet again.

  3. That person was not yelling at you. That person always types in caps. It explains it on every reply.

The thing about a public forum is that it's for everyone.

Yes, I agree a public forum is for everyone, but I was addressing a particular comment made by an individual. How can Tess answer for someone else?

My bad in thinking Tess was yelling, I apologize for that. I did not see the comment that you have now pointed out to me. Thank you for doing that.

I would still like to know when "they have closed schools for a lot less" before. I grew up attending Paulding County Schools and have been driving a school bus here for 6 years. I have never known the schools to be closed unnecessarily. I know how and when the decisions are made to close.

I would still like an answer from the 2 previous posters who stated schools have been closed for a lot less before. I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have a tendency to be defensive toward negative comments about my employer and the school system that educates the majority of our county's children. I trust them to make the right decision about whether or not buses should be on the road tomorrow. They would not ever endanger my life, my child's life, nor any of your children's lives. We have to remember that they have children and other loved ones on these buses too. Safety is the #1 concern of the people making the decision and they will err on the side of caution every time.

  4. I have used Turbo Tax for our return for several years and never had anything imported. We have to use the home and business one, so cannot use the progam that does import things for you.

I do a lot of taxes for friends and family, using freetaxusa.com. Just completed my daughter's return. If you make $53,000 or less the Federal is free and the State is $9.95. They import the information from the previous year and it figures most any kind of deduction you can think of. The first time I used it, I figured the turn and them let them figure it. I was very impressed and still am. It is an IRS recommended site.

Thank you, I may try this one, the freetaxusa.com Does it walk you through so that it would be hard to miss a deduction option the way TurboTax does?

  5. I just finished my taxes a few minutes ago, I have used turbo tax for several years. You have to sign in with the same username and password that you used in the past year. It took me under 10 minutes to get mine done and saved onto my computer and filed. I love turbo tax. If you have any other questions pm me. Good luck.

I am signed in under the same username and password. Any other suggestions?

Also, even if it doesn't, for some reason, recognize me it looks like once I entered my name, ss# etc. it would pull up a prompt to ask me and then pull my info from my prior returns.

Are you using the TurboTax online or one that you purchased in store?

  6. I have used TurboTax for the past 2 years and started on this year's return today. They always say that they import info yet I'm having to re-enter my name, ss#, address, dependent info, employer info, etc. All the standard stuff.

Has anyone else used TurboTax in consecutive years and had this same experience? Is this correct or is there something I am doing wrong?

I've also been reading on here about other services such as TaxAct?

I would appreciate any opinions, suggestions or help anyone might be able to offer.

    Thanks

  7. My son went to Powder Springs First Methodist for 3 and 4 year private pre-k. He and I both loved it and it was very affordable. I preferrred private over lottery due to the fact that there was no childcare involved. He actually felt like he was "going to a real school."

The teacher/student ratio was great too. 8 kids in his 3 year class and 6 in his 4 year class. They got to rehearse and hold special programs where all students in that age group performed together for all parents to attend at one time, kind of like chorus and other things that real school has. He was taught his letters, numbers, colors, how to write his name, and much, much more and was very ready for public kindergarten at age 5.

I just looked on their website and their rated for this year run anywhere from $105-150 per month depending on the number of days 2-5 that the child attends. Hours are 9-12.

I don't know how to post a link for you but their web address is www.powderspringsfumc.org. Then click the link for preschool. You can at least get an idea of how a private pre-k is run and there's a number to call for more info. Not sure where in the county you live but there are some good ones in the county too. Pwder Springs is very close to me, I live in Hiram.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Now is a good time to start. Make some calls and maybe you can visit a few classes both private ond public soon to get a better feel or idea of which choice might best fit your child and you.

  8. Anytime someone lies to your child, isn't it your responsibility to tell them the truth? I've been through the same type of situation so I can speak with authority on the matter. Your child is being misled and manipulated and the only way to correct the problem is to tell them the truth. You or your husband are not responsible for the reaction of the biological mom as long as you present the truth. You have to see what is ultimately going to benefit the child. If the mom doesn't abide by the court mandated support, what in the world makes you think she will abide by any agreements on what is said to the child? Do the right thing and speak truth to your children, for they will appreciate it when they are adults. Remember, you step childs hurt isn't coming from something you all have done.

I agree with this 100%! As the single mom of a 12 year old son, I believe in being totally honest with him about everything that is going on with his dad, child support, etc. I want him to know the truth and I know he will get that from me. I also want him to know that he can trust me. I am lucky that his dad is not one to even discuss these matters with him much. Children are very smart and pick up on things that you might not even realize. I can remember as a child worrying myself severely at times because my parents would whisper and/or hold conversations that they were clear we should not know about. I never knew if it was something major but by the secretiveness I would worry myself sick that something was seriously wrong in our family. I have vowed to NEVER do that to my child. I talk to him honestly and openly about life's things that come up and I offer him much reassurance that everything will be o.k. in the end. This is real life and children should know that life is full of challenges. This helps prepare them for how to deal with the challenges they will face as adults. My son has never questioned whether I am telling him the truth about anything. I have always answered any questions he has asked in an open and honest way that he could understand based on his age and maturity level. Even the hard ones, like how does the baby get out of it's mommy's belly when he was 5. I don't think this has messed him up at all, I think it has helped him tremendously. He is a great kid and we have a very open and loving relationship. He knows he can come to me at anytime about anything.

Don't be afraid to be honest and up front with your step daughter. It may be that this is part of the reason why she is upset. If she had heard about this from her dad and you before her mom gave her version of the story I think she might have handles it better.

Also, don't blame her mom or talk negatively about her mom around her. Just offer your love and support. That's what she needs most right now.

  9. All of us bus drivers were notified yesterday by the director of transportation that we are to go door to door to pick up ALL students in the morning today and tomorrow. This is for elementary, middle and high school students. The school system does not want students standing out in the cold watching and waiting for buses. Please keep your kids inside until the bus arrives.

We love our kids, your babies!

Afternoon bus stops will be regular and everything should go back to normal on Tuesday. Your child's bus driver can only do this when directed by the school system and should be able to notify your child the day before.

  10. I am off of Cleburne Pkwy unincorporated Paulding Co. I am also in a subdivision with a neighborhood watch. Maybe it's midnight on weekends, Friday and Saturday. I know the popo have been out here for noise after 10 on Sundays(that is when the neighbor likes his music loud) and also during the work week for the lawn mower.

  11. Maybe he's drinking too fast? I used playtex nursers when my son(12 Now) was a baby and I really had to be careful with the nipples I bought. Some had larger holes, for older babies. The smaller holes for smaller babies. That controlled how much he could get. I know things have changed alot with bottles since mine was little but this was my first thought. Hope you find an answer that works!
