  1. I am bumping this back up to the top in case anyone else knows of any positions. It is starting to become serious here. My office mate was let go this morning. If you know of anything, please let me know.

    Thanks.

  2. Great topic. We had our sermon at church yesterday about being judgmental. It is something I need to work on, and yesterday just reinforced that for me! Our sermon was "we don't have to agree with everything that people say or do, but it is not OUR place to judge them for it!"

    Cat’s Diary:

    Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed has or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dreams of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow – but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return.

    He is obviously retarded.

  4. She went to youth camp this week. They are staying at Louisiana Tech and doing mission work in the area. She is visiting an orphanage today. I am curious to see if it makes a difference in her outlook on things. She has never understood just how fortunate she is to have a family and a roof over her head and EVERYTHING she needs and a lot of what she wants. They are going to feed the homeless and help build and repair homes during their stay. Please keep her and her group in your thoughts and prayers this week. They return home on Thursday (I hope with a less selfish outlook on life).

  5. I'm in Mill Pointe also. Just let me know what needs to be done and I will help. You may want to contact APSmome also. She had her cars broken into recently.

Also, Justthinkin is in our neighborhood and she is very good with the computer. Sorry, Justthinkin--didn't mean to volunteer you--but you have to admit--YOU ARE GOOD!!

  6. Thanks guys. I used the Zamzar program. It converted the document to word, but I am still not able to edit it. It is my resume, so I was hoping I did not have to start over. I guess I am going to have to. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Lisac--I have adobe 7.0 so I don't guess that will work either.

  7. My work is also drying up. I work in real estate licensing education, and fewer people are wanting to put out the expense at the moment to go into real estate. So I feel your pain.

On the plus side, I had a fabulous interview today. The position is a work-from-home position with a large company called Amedisys, the largest home health and hospice providers in the country. The position is as a "Learning Solutions Developer"--I'd be doing the same thing I do now (developing online education), but for a different--and more assured and stable--industry.

I'll send out good vibes for you if you'll keep your fingers crossed for me!

I will keep my fingers crossed!

sorry about that... at least he let you know ahead of time... some places just close the door and do not bother letting the employees know anything...

Good Luck in your job search

    Thank you!

That truly sucks. I know at one point, Home Depot's legal dept. was looking for a paralegal, it might be worth checking into. Also, our firm is looking for a complex litigation paralegal. If you're interested in getting back into a large firm, let me know and I'll be glad to pass your resume on to HR.

Thanks! I will look into all of this!

  8. :o My boss just called a meeting to let me and my co-worker know that our biggest client has just filed something similar to bankruptcy. They are in the building supply business, so it was not really a big surprise! My boss says that we have enough funds to keep us afloat for another 3-6 months. However, he has suggested that we start putting feelers out.

I have 20 years experience as a paralegal. I have worked for several major firms in the Atlanta area. I moved to this firm because I was ready to move to a more low key, small environment (there are only 3 of us in the office). I am very "fluent" in the FDCPA and can do skip tracing as well as document preparation and filing. I also have some experience on the creditor side of bankruptcy. If any of you know an attorney who may be looking for help, or if you are an attorney looking for help, please let me know. I am not in a big hurry, but if something comes up, I will certainly be interested in it.

    Thanks.

  9. Open a new bank account when the check or money order comes and put the money in there. Don't spend any, just wait to see what happens. If it comes back bogus, no harm, no loss. Also, they will not be able to get your banking information because it will not be your bank account. If the check is good, it might be legit.

Never mind--posted before I saw your last post. You might want to do this anyway and if the check is legit--keep it

  10. Good looking guy...but he has had alot of bad things to say about America so I am not a fan.

I think this is what you are talking about. This is a quote from him in 2003:

"America is dumb. It's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive. My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."

People said that he hated America and that is why he lived in France. He got a lot of bad publicity at that time. He then said this:

"Taken in context, what I was saying was that, compared to Europe, America is a very young country and we are still growing as a nation. It is a shame that the metaphor I used was taken so radically out of context and slung about irresponsibly by the news media. There was no anti-American sentiment. In fact, it was just the opposite. I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it. It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful."

I have always heard he hates America too. I had never seen the second quote until just a few minutes ago. Makes me feel better since I had always felt a little guilty for still liking him!! :p
