  1. About 15-16 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was almost hit head on on 92 between Brownsville Road and Hiram. We were headed to Hiram to eat at the old Catfish Den. I came over a hill and a car was on my side of the road passing 3 cars on a blind hill. I had to run off onto the shoulder of the road to avoid her. I looked in my rear view mirror and she was fish tailing all over the road. She ran off the road and flipped over. It killed her. If I remember correctly, the girl in the passenger seat survived. It was a one car collision, thank god. She could have taken me, my 9 year old step daughter and an unborn baby with her.... I still shudder when I think about it.

  2. No, carolg, I'm just kidding with you.

That was a very funny joke, which goes to show,"never trust the opinion of a drunk, because their perception of anything is not worth your consideration."

You are not ugly, but very good looking. :air_kiss:

AWWWWWW! Thanks WT!! I knew you were kidding! I didn't take it personally. In fact, I thought your response was pretty funny!!

  3. I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:

    A half-gallon of 2% milk,

    A carton of eggs,

    A quart of orange juice,

    A head of romaine lettuce,

A 2 lb. can of coffee, and

A 1 lb. package of bacon.

As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk

standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the

    cashier.

While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated,

    'You must be single.'

I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the

derelict's intuition, since I was indeed single. I looked at the six

items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my

selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I said: 'Well, you know what, you're

absolutely right. 'But how on earth did you know that?'

The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.'

  4. Sorry... her son is level 6... It really is hard to keep up with who is on what level these days...

I don't know why she is afraid to turn... It's the least intimidating of the skills she can do.

Yipee!!!! I asked Hunter if she ever saw her in the halls...

Apparently not... I asked Miranda the same thing and she said that she did not think Hunter even goes to Hiram!!! I will tell her that Hunter DOES go there and she is to pay attention. Miranda is "going out with" a freshy so she probably spends too much time in the academy anyway....

  5. Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy! We will definately have to come by to watch the "big A"!!!

For Just Thinkin Hard and Pink Caddi (because you care)--Miranda got her full back last week. You know, that is how she tore her ACL. She was terrified to do it, but when she did, you could not even tell she was scared!!!

  6. We have several fire extinguishers in our house... one is in the laundry room. It might have made it safer and quicker to put the fire out.

    Glad you are alright. :p

We had a fire extinguisher also. The fire was under the drum of the dryer. We emptied the extinguisher into the dryer, but it did nothing!! Our neighbor brought one over also, and it helped once the fire had burned through the drum :o !!

I told my husband that we were going to get a BIG one for each floor of the house (we only had a small one for the kitchen!)

  7. They are modern "vampire" stories. I guess that could be fantasy or horror (though they are not very scary!!) The vampires are "good vampires" and only drink the blood of wild animals. There are several twists to the story. I really enjoyed them all and can't wait for the next installment!

  8. I just grabbed my daughter's books by Stephanie Meyer. They are Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. I read all three this week. They are VERY good and very suitable for teen readers. I was impressed by them and really enjoyed them! I can't wait to get the new one that was just released.

  9. Hey guys!

I finally got a job on Wednesday! I was only out of work for 3 weeks!! YEAH!!

Well, the guy called at about 6 on Wednesday night to offer me the job. At about 8, while we were eating dinner, I looked up and there was smoke drifting across the backyard. We went outside to look, and there was smoke coming out of the dryer vent. We ran upstairs and there was a lot of smoke in the dryer. My husband ran downstairs for something (I don't know what) and while he was gone I opened the door to the dryer and it was on fire!!! I yelled for him to come back up. We started hauling water up the stairs to try and put it out. There was a ton of smoke. Shortly after the smoke alarm started going off (which was after we saw the flames) our neighbors (two different neighbors) came to our rescue. My husband said that he had just about given up when they got there because the smoke was so thick. When the neighbors showed up, they all pitched in and we got the fire out. When the firetruck got to my house, there was only smoke left.

I have three points to make by telling this story:

Number 1: Be kind to your neighbors, you never know when you may need them. If ours had not been the angels that they are, we may have lost our house, or at least had a lot more damage. As it is, there is only a little water damage.

Number 2: Please check the pockets of your pants before you wash and dry them. My daughter had left a necklace in the pocket of her pants. The necklace somehow got into the motor of the dryer and stopped it from running. It eventually burned up and caught on fire.

Number 3: Never ever ever leave your house while the dryer is on! If we had not been home, our home would be gone with our dogs inside. SO SCARY!

I am so thankful that everyone in our family is fine (my husband suffered from a little smoke inhalation, but it could have been much worse). And I am glad I got a job--but talk about being WAY up one minute and WAY down the next!!

  10. Sounds like tachycardia (sp?). My daughter was diagnosed with it when she was in the 4th grade. They call it SVT or Super Ventriculor Tachycardia. It is a "misfire" of the electrical circuits in your heart. It causes your heart to race. My daughter's was doing 300 beats per minute when she had an attack. When she was diagnosed, they put a heart monitor on her for a few days. She just had to press a button when she had an attack and it would record it. I don't remember her having to do anything on a treadmill. Does yours happen when you are exercising, or just randomly? My daughter's was random.

  11. There is this girl in my office. When she is speaking any word that ends with ing- she does not use the G. It drives me crazy!!!!! gettin sometin usin laughin

Hey! Give her a break! I do the same thing. I am not stupid, and I am very aware that I do it, but I can't help it. I was brought up in S. Ga, and when you put the "g" on the end of the "in", everybody looks at you like something is wrong with you (and they tell you that you "talk like a yankee"). When I try to use the "g", it always sounds fake and funny to me. I do, however, try to "talk right"!!!!

  12. We're going to get the no trespassing signs (in english and spanish) today and posting them. I've left a message at the sheriff's office to have someone call me. We've also got friends in the general area that will start doing routine ride bys and watch for things. I wish I had taken pictures today, but didn't think of it. I need to go pick the garden - I may get some pics of the damage at least.

I guess what really bothers me was the attitude that he should be able to ride there even though he didn't have permission. And, I'm also concerned that there will be more problems now than before. This part of the property is not visible from the house - which is why it's been going on so long - and I"m worried that they'll take a "you can't catch me" attitude.

We'll see what's happened. I may have started a fight today. But, I hope these two realize that I'm willing to finish it.

I wub u cause you a bad a**

  13. I don't have a problem at all with McDonald's supporting GLADD or any other gay rights groups. They are a business and may spend their money in any manner they wish. As an American, I also don't have a problem with certain groups choosing to not go to McDonald's because of this support. I certainly do not understand the mindset behind it - all that "love the sinner, hate the sin" stuff when it comes to gays seems so hypocritical to me. Do we love blue-eyed people but hate the fact that they're blue-eyed? I doubt it. Being gay is the same thing. It's not a choice, it's not a lifestyle, it's not something that is an agenda, "perverted sexual practice" that will continue to "come out fo the closet and expose themselves to our children and families plus influence them to behave in that manner." No one can be "influenced" to be gay unless they are gay.

My sister is gay. I have many friends who are gay. My children - 16, 12 and 6 have grown up spending time with my sister and her partner of 10+ years. Not once have they been "influenced" to be gay. When they're with my sister and her partner, they have been influenced by their loving relationship both with each other and with humankind. They have learned that love is truly the greatest gift a person can give. They have also learned that to be intolerant of others who are different from them is completely unacceptable in our home.

To each his own but for my own - we understand that being gay is not a choice of any sort. It's truly the way a person is born. As Voltaire said, "I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." So post away.

    AMEN!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

  14. I hate the chain e-mails, and I have made it clear to all of my friends that I do not like them. I AM a christian and I still hate getting that stuff. I would tell her that you do not like getting the chain e-mails and to please stop sending them. Then if she sends one, reply to it and tell her that you hate these things and to please not send any more. After a while, she will get the message. If she sends anything other than a chain, I would just delete it. I get a lot of political crap that I just delete.
