  1. My daughter was a Senior cheerleader at Hiram two years ago. We knew what those kids were going to do that night before the game. I still remember watching the North stands when the banner was raised. A couple of heads turned and you could see the people start talking and pointing until the whole crowd was watching. Then the Hiram players and cheerleaders released the blue and silver balloons and the players walked around the banner! The banner was not broken and was given to North! The entire crowd was standing and cheering on both sides. Thinking about that night still gives me chill bumps! My daughter was so proud to be a part of that.

I am very proud that they did something again. Makes be proud to be a Hornet parent!

  2. The crook has revisited Moorechick's neighbors this morning. Moorechick wants me to let everyone know that Channel 2 News will be in the neighborhood at noon today. Please come out and support the residents of Mill Pointe and let this creep know that we are watching for him...

  3. Kids don't care about disabilities. Adults do. Kids are curious, but nothing more. I had an aunt that was born without an arm below her elbow. As a kid, I hardly even noticed it. In fact, I thought it was cool. She was my 1st grade teacher and I don't remember any of the kids having nightmares about her arm. Kids are very accepting. It is their parents who are not.

  4. i think there is a pick-up and drop-off location at the movie theater in Hiram....not sure of the routes provided

Yes there is. You can go "Express" to Atlanta. It is not a bus line per say, it is an Express bus. It makes a stop in Powder Springs, then a couple of stops at the end of Thornton Road. Then it goes all the way in to Atlanta. The people who ride this bus work in Atlanta. It runs from about 6 until about 9 in the morning. And then it runs out of Atlanta from about 4 until about 6:30. I ride it and I love it. It is not like public transportation. It is more like a shuttle bus to work and home.

  5. What is also annoying is when you are trying to teach them to drive and the aggressive adult drivers that flip you off and ride you butt because they are actually doing the speed limit. When you are at a light and they are waiting for a large opening since they are LEARNING and they are getting honked at.

I know that's right. My daughter freaks out when someone tailgates her. It scares her to death. I just hold on and keep saying "Don't worry about them, worry about you!" Teaching a kid to drive is bad enough, but then you have to deal with those that never learned to drive in the first place....

  6. I moved down here a year ago --- the buzz is already started down here now about the tunnels. I've not made my way out to where I'm pretty sure one of the openings is -- it's been under close surveillance. I was told that Ware County was picked due to it's proximity to the coast, as well as being so close to the Naval Submarine Base at Kings Bay, Georgia, which is the Atlantic coast home of the Trident Nuclear Submarine. Also, we have GLYNCO - which is the home of a campus for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, in Brunswick Georgia - only 45 mins away. It's where all the super-duper big-dog training happens... FBI, CIA, etc., etc.

Where in Ware? I have toured the tunnels here, but had not heard about any down there. I will have to ask my family if they have heard about it yet. That could be the "super secret job" my brother just got. Hmmmmmm

  7. I just got off the phone with the GA Coordinator for the Tunnel Project & was informed that because of the extremely cold weather over the next few days, the decision has been made to move all work to the underground components =only=. The fear is that any excessive cold might result in unsafe working conditions. Because the Paulding Tunnels have the best safety record with the entire Southeastern Project, the Paulding managers requested & received permission for this somewhat unusual request.

It didn't hurt that the project is at least 3 months ahead of schedule either so they were given some slack.

Commission Chairman Austin lead a tour last week of the new Walmart 120 Tunnel for the commissioners of Lumpkin, Polk & Ware Counties.

Thanks for making us look good, Chair Dude!

Tours are scheduled for each Tuesday & Thursday, every hour between 10AM to 4PM. Call teh Chamber of Commerce or the Commission Office to get tix.

Here's the link for the other Tunnel threads.

Why WARE County? I wouldn't think they could run a tunnel underneath the Okefenokee Swamp, but I could be wrong.

  8. I took my daughter's cheer skirt to her to be hemmed from the top. She did an AWESOME job!! Several others from the gym asked her to help them also. She is a WONDERFUL person! I am so glad I got to meet her!!!!!!!!

  9. Is anyone here a seamstress? I have a cheerleading skirt that needs to be shortened. I cannot be hemmed. It will need to be shortened from the top. Are you, or do you know, an experienced seamstress that can do this? I don't want to take it to a dry cleaners because I can't afford for it to be ruined.

    Thanks

  10. My 16 year old got me hooked. But at first I was like...uh uh, I don't think so. I'm not into Vamps. But then I bought the first book...and WHOA!! Talk about falling in love with a fictional character!! OMG!! Edward screws it for other men...real men...he's so romantic and ... *sigh* Ok...I think I've gotta go read them AGAIN! LOL This will be the third time! They are great. I know for me...during the few seconds of the day that I wasn't reading them, I was thinking about them. It's consuming!

Have you read the draft on Stepheniemeyer.com for the next book that will be done from Edward's perspective? It is good too.

  11. Yep! I told my husband the other day that we need to stop paying our bills so that the government can bail US out. He agreed. I sure would like to be bailed out because I have a daughter that needs to go to college in 3 years and we may not be able to afford it. I could stop paying my bills, let the government bail me out, quit my job, start drawing welfare and let the government pay my daughter's way through college. Hey! That's the ticket.....

  12. I just add whatever. I use a couple of cans of stew tomatoes, an onion and then whatever veggies. I usually use a bag of the veggies made for vegetable soup. I love lima beans and ocra in mine so I add a bag of each. Then I spice it up with basil, oregano, garlic salt, pepper and what ever else tickles my fancy. I sometime brown stew meat and add that too. Vegetable soup is so easy to make!! Just simmer, simmer, simmer.

  13. I am sorry if this had already been posted. I got it in my e-mail today and it makes a lot of sense to me!

    Subject: $85 Billion

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in

    a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000

    bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman

and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up.

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a

    We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks

who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other compan y

that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

    If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really d o it...instead of trickling out

a puny $1000.00 economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

    Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

    Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can work.

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .

And remember, The Family pla n only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting t hat off my chest.

  14. As HAPPY as I am with the outcome and how GREAT and SOLID Bama looked, I agree. We were watching it with friends who the husband is a GEORGIA fan............in the 3rd quarter, he got up, went to bed, closed the door. PERIOD. No, good night, kiss my ??? or anything.

HELLO??? it is a BALLGAME and you are (supposed to be) an ADULT!!!!!!!

    ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that I totally understand where he was coming from. We had such high hopes for the Dawgs this year and our feelings were hurt. I wanted to go to bed and pull the covers over my head and lick my wounds for a while too! My "Alabama" friend kept calling me and I had to turn off my phone. When I talked to her yesterday, I told her that I was so upset that I could not have been responsible for what I said to her, therefore, I did not talk to her at all! It was just SO SAD and SO DISAPPOINTING. However, I will be right back in there in two weeks cheering them on again!! (And since Georgia will not be National Champions this year, I hope Bama is! GO SEC!!)

  15. aj_rip you are the WINNER. :) PM'ing you regarding tickets.
