Using tax incentives to attract new business and giving TOTAL fuel tax exemptions to corporations like Delta is comparing apples to grapes. It is a fine line in both cases. In the case of Delta, I think it is in the best interest of all of Georgia to keep Delta a viable employer. I don't know the details of the deal, but I think it would be a lot more palatable if the Delta executives stopped their bonuses until they are able to pay all their taxes again.

Don't know what you had but the blackened grouper was a long way from bland or lacking salt. Matter of fact it was right there at my salt limit. The sweet potato fries neutralized the salt for a perfect blend. That was my second time. The first time we had RB and Rice and Jambalaya. Both were good. The bread pudding with what tastes a lot like pecan pie drizzled over it is wonderful. But then again, I don't care for the food at Gumbeaux in Douglasville either.

Are you the one I nearly ran over when I turned around with my tray?
-
Same here. And if I could get it, it was illegal whiskey (homemade apple brandy). The stuff saved my life when I was a kid. "Legal" drugs wouldn't break up the pneumonia I had. The apple brandy with honey did the trick. Good thing the legalistic folks like Madea weren't there to kill me back then.
-
Yep. They close at 8 on Saturdays.
-
Neither. Kroger and Target.

I have been seeing a Jeep Cherokee at SAM's with one of Paaulette's posters on it. Maybe she has landed her a job there to help pay off her tax debts and sold the Mercedes. Maybe she is on a 12 step program.
-
Ate there tonight. They had a 96 on their health score. Pretty good. BBQ had a great pork / hardwood smoke flavor. Actually wasn't dirty, just old. I'll go back.
-
I just have to ask. Are you guys down at the Republican Club really proud of Paulette are do you hold your breath every time she opens her pie hole?
-
Well we tried. Got there at 8:10. They were closed. So we went to the Hickory Hut. And it was good.
-
Yeah. They are closed the 5th, 6th and 7th for the 4th. That crossed my mind but I didn't call and check. So we went on a tour of west Georgia. Tallapoosa, Bremen and then to Carrolton to eat. Then the Jeep fried.

Bite me. If they are only working because their industry is being enhanced by taxpayer money I don't see much difference. Either way they are living on my dime. And these are the people that have footed the bill to advertise and attempt to swindle the voters into approving this tax. The only ignorance around here belongs to the people that think this tax would work as advertised.
-
I know. But the people that were backing it on PCOM were Democrats or the people that work in an industry that would be enhanced by the TSPLOST. I see no difference in asking for TSPLOST to provide you a job and getting a welfare check other than welfare would be a heck of a lot less expensive to the taxpayers. But like I have always said, I am an equal opportunity hater when it comes to politicians. I think both parties are liars and crooks.

I agree. But she did the same thing last election and won.

I think they need to go back to the drawing board. First of all, present it to us for what it is. Stop with the silly-assed commercials and show me the facts. And like I said earlier, shorten the commitment and be more specific about the projects. The project list is a wish list that never should have been presented as a factual (seemingly) list. I want to see "Give us 1% for two years and we will give you this project." Bottom line is the government has proved themselves to not be efficient and once they get their tax they thumb their noses at us. We have to control them. I

Haven't settled on a price. Rumor is $7K. I would like to get it a little cheaper than that. But it is a cherry. Never been in the mud. Always garaged.
-
Really? You think that these projects will take place if ONLY we will pass a 1% x 10 year tax? It ain't going to happen Johnny. They are blowing smoke up your @$$. Problem is, when you realize it 8 years from now it will be too late to say no. I think the majority of the voters are smarter than this.
-
What if I build parking decks for a living? How would mass transit help my business? Why is it that one business should be getting handouts from the taxpayers when it destroys another person's business? Seems like the kind of stuff the dumbocrats usually raise hell about.
-
Good God Johnny, you act like we don't pay any other taxes that go to highways.
-
So you think they will pass the plate and send me a handout since my business, like damn near every other business, isn't doing so well? This is nothing but a scam being played on the taxpayers. If they would stop with the misleading commercials, use some matter of fact wording on the ballot and not try to play the voters for a bunch of fools, they might have a chance of passing some of this. Another suggestion would be to shorten the term (10 years is a big commitment) and be very specific about the projects. The plan is way too open ended for this economy.
-
Just as has been discussed, the ballot for the TSPLOST has some sneaky, possibly illegal, wording. When the main backers of a referendum are the people that will PROFIT from it (such as quarries, highway contractors, heavy equipment dealers, you get the idea that this is being sold as an expensive bill of goods to the public on the pretense that it is going to solve ALL of our traffic problems. This is the worst thing I have seen on a ballot since Mr. Shearin screwed the citizens of Paulding County with the Fire Tax. We have to vote no and reign in some of these crooked politicians

Really. In that case (where's the one with the middle finger?)

Clarifications: The restaurant: A Taste of Bourbon Street on the square in Carrolton. (My favorite Cajun restaurant is Adele's in Roswell). A Taste of Bourbon Street has the best bread pudding I have ever had and they don't screw it up by putting those nasty raisins in it. The Jeep is a TJ. Not the Jeep's fault. I cranked it, then decided to pull the windows off for the ride back home because it was so nice and cool. Evidently the battery shorted out and that was the end of it. Tried to push it off and it wouldn't start. Thankfully I have this great son in law that brought me a

Seemed like a great place to go for a Jeep ride. Got there and they were closed. Went to eat at our second favorite Cajun place in Carrolton. Great blackened grouper, bread pudding. Got ready to leave and the Jeep died. Just getting home. They are in the sticks.
