  1. It's summer and despite the weather, the animals need us more than ever. The more animals we can rehome, the more we can get out of the shelter.

We currently need help with the following tasks:

Some to put our signs out in the parking lots in Hiram on either late Friday nights or early Saturday morning and pick them up Sunday evening, anytime after 6 p.m.

Someone to go to Petsmart before we get there, before the adoption begins and before it's hot, to put up our 2 pop-up tents on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Around 9 a.m. on Saturday and around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

We need someone to come at the end of the day to our adoptions, just for an hour and help us load the animals, crates, and pack up to go home.

Helping with the little things, helps make all of our dependable, hardworking volunteer's days go a little smoother. We are trying our best to beat the heat, but since Petsmart won't allow us inside it's hard on everyone. So if you can't adopt or volunteer your time, please stop by and bring a bottle of water for our volunteers or your newspaper or empty litter pales for us to recycle.

All you parents out there whose kids need something to do this summer, please send them our way (over 14 please) and learn the valuable skills of volunteering, they can school credit for their hours and have something to add to their resumes!

  2. If you're going to keep in a small cage indoors, I'd suggest getting just one. And definately confirm the sexes with a vet if you get 2, becuase it's not easy to sex a bunny correctly and that's a mistake you don't want to make. Spayed/Neutered bunnies make friendlier pets that are easier to hold and contain (if outdoors). Keep in mind their nails are sharp and sometimes bite.

  3. I'm not sure what price you meant for your post to say, but larger breeds are just about ALWAYS going to have higher adoption fees due to the higher costs involved in all aspects, from surcharges on the spay/neuter fee, more dewormer, more flea prevention, more to board, etc. A rescue charges a fee not only to help us reimburse the costs but also because if you're adopting a large breed that's going to cost you hundreds on dollars a year to maintain, we believe you should also have the money to invest in the beginning to show good faith in that. 6 months of Revolution alone are $100, so that's $200 a year foe heartworm and flea prevention for a large breed. That doesn't include a yearly vet visit, if you're lucky and nothing happens before that like eats something he shouldn't or gets sick. Plus dog food, a crate, which will run about $200 for a large one, treats, bowls, training, etc...

  4. The biggest was 10 pounds and 13 ounces!! :o Quite the experience!

Ditto on life preferences and my biggest home birth baby was 10 lbs. 7 oz. And no, no vax for our kiddos!

  5. I too have a friend that has 5 kids and did it 1 year with hers and hated it. She said she felt so under their thumb that she might as well sent her kids to school. I think if you put your mind to it and join a home school group/co-op anyone can do it! Good luck.

  6. I live near the courthouse too, but my boys go to Brighton Preschool in Hiram and it's terrific! I'm not sure who's more sad, the boys or myself, that this is the last week of school.

It's Tuesday through Thursday 9-12 or until 1 if they stay for lunch and playground time. Which I think is just the right amount for the young ones. It's not a daycare and the teachers are great!

  7. IT definately was not Adam. I knew from the start that was not the real Dylan. And the 5 years thing stressed us out too. I was so glad that Lynette send crazy girl packin'. I mean come on, don't care who's blood is running through her veins.

  8. I went to Campbell, but moved here in the middle of my sophomore year! Good times! Glad I got out of there. The fights in the halls were unbelievable. Made you scared for your life sometimes.

Coach Holmes is Mike Hogan. I had him one year. Loved him.

I would have graduated in 1995.

    Malia

Did you have an unusual red shiny car?

And what's up with Coach Hogan having a new name? He was my coach too?
