  1. Watching interview with Steve-O now, no fracture--he's back Says the flip was a bad idea....ummm how many bad ideas has he made it through before this??? So DANCING is more dangerous???

I think Maks is WANTING Denise to be voted off... she's been a prima dona, crying whiney baby, and calls him Maksie Poo....he doesn't look like he's having fun.

    Love this show!

  2. Lucks Beans taste better than my home cooked beans!!! No joke!! My cornbread is pretty good. Even if I do say so myself!! I'm not in the mood for beans tonight though.

I have never attempted making pintos because Lucks are just fine to me but I can make good cornbread, too. Its just easier to keep a can of beans and frozen corn muffins on hand. I also make good biscuits (not as good as my g'ma's) but I've discovered the White Lily frozen buttermilk biscuits are just like homemade.

  3. I was thinking of doing the same thing because I hate having that monthly base charge when I'm not using the gas for 1/2 of the year. I'm all electric except the furnace and its almost new so changing to electric would not make sense. I was also wondering if the propane tank was a better deal and if the furnace was convertible, but it does not sound like a good idea.

  4. Luck's canned pinto beans (only the Luck's brand and not vegetarian) are good. I don't like most canned vegetables but these are good. Just put about 1/3 cup of water in the pot when you heat them up. It thins out them out a little. The Ingles in Dallas also has good cornbread.

I keep the corn muffins in the freezer and a can of beans in the pantry. It makes for a good quick supper (and cheap). Just add a couple of slices of tomato, pickles, and a little onion and you're good to go.

  5. Please avoid the Buffet!!!! I ate there once before I knew about the scores and it was not good.

I've been to Imperial Palace four times. The first two it was really good, the third time it was horrible (soup inedible and I picked the chicken out of the rest and fed it to the dogs), and the last time it was just OK. I guess it depends on who they have cooking that night. I love Chinese Food but I haven't found any here that is really good.

2nd warning: Chinese food may cause horrible gas in dogs :bad:

  6. :D :D

That is funny, but I think they meant a medical issue causing the issue instead of a wreck or other accident involving injury

(the stating the obvious is funny, not that someone was life flighted...prayers for them)

  7. Hooey yourself! :p

My grandmother was one of 13 children, the youngest, and her mother died in childbirth. Adequate means to prevent pregnancies could have made a better life for them all. Her life was very, very hard. Not anything anyone would have wished for any of their children.

And then sure--maybe I wouldn't be here if my grandmother had never been born, but there's no sense whatsoever in having more kids than you can adequately care for.

And that's part of what I see when I see this picture. How sad for them all. The mother looks young, and she's already had 9 kids. She may have gone on to have 9 more.

What I see first when I look at the picture is poverty. I also see love.

I wonder though, if they lived close to the river, why aren't any of them clean?

PERHAPS it was because the young mother was overwhelmed by too many children and abject poverty.

    -_-

People didn't bathe every day. You bathed on Sat before church on Sunday. My great aunt told me that her mother kept her hair in a bun. It was very long and she washed it once or twice a year. That was normal. People used a wash basin, if they had one, to wash their face, hands, and feet each day, but you went dirty otherwise.

  8. The school USED to close more when I was growing up, because there were more dirt roads and rural areas (and we used to get more snow) I don't know if they will or won't but as much as it rained/snowed there will be standing water in some areas. Main roads will be perfectly clear, but not ALL roads are main roads. We still have many back roads and low lying areas. There may be standing water or wet areas that freeze. I doubt school will be closed for teachers/staff, but there is a chance students will not report if some areas are icy. I just hope they are thorough with checking all roads before the decision is made.

  9. The nursing home in Dallas that is attached to Paulding Wellstar Hospital is great. Its building is older and may not look as clean some newer ones, but the care is what counts. I've had several older family members there. There is a lot of community support. If the person needing the care is originally from this area, they may know some other residents or see people they know often who are visiting others.

My grandmother was able to see a lot more people she knew and socialize more at the nursing home than when she was isolated at home. I also had a great aunt who loved it there.

  10. The clinic in Rome is the closest place that I know. I don't even know if they help with red tape or not. My Dad is always having trouble but he goes through the big hospital in Atlanta. They don't make anything easy, good luck

  11. Unsatisfactory

I agree with some of the above. I worked in fast food for about 2 years in HS...they count off points for too much jewelry, manicured nails, your shirt being untucked...it's rediculous.

I can agree with the fake fingernails getting points off. I worked in a hospital at one time and still keep my own fingernails short. Long fingernails and especially acrylic nails harbor bacteria and all kinds of nasties. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get them clean. We HAD to keep our nails short. Several babies died in a hospital due to bacteria being passed by nurse aid who had acrylic nails. Even gloves aren't fool proof with long nails because they can pierce the gloves.

  12. Not to let your dog go near the dead thing in the road.

The dog just might lurch forward almost making you land face first in the pavement. While you regain your balance your dog just might pick up the thing it its mouth and start shaking furiously. And you might just respond by banging your dog on the head as hard as you can to make the dog release the dead thing that is being furiously shaken. And you may loudly shout things like, "Have you lost your mind?" And someone may see you since you are standing IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD while you yell at and beat your dog who is attacking a nasty dead thing. This is, of course, hypothetical.

PS: Don't worry the dog is fine. She has a very hard head. ;)
