  1. Two suggestions:

One is plain old-fashioned Johnson's first aid cream. When my sister was little, doctors could not find anything to help her. It did the trick!

I get a horrible itchy skin condition every winter. After two expensive prescriptions, the doctor tried this one. It is still a prescription, but very cheap. It helps immediately. I had my skin scratched raw with nasty looking embarassing sores!

It is Triamcinolon 0.1% CRE Clay

  2. Wasn't sure if this belonged in the politcial forum or here.

I'd like to get an array of opinions on this question. I'm not sure where I stand.

Part of me says that any money from the govenment is welfare, and taking the money would make me a hypocrit, as my political leanings are definitely to the right, and I frequently speak out against people who abuse the welfare system.

The other part of me knows that I am required to pay into unemployment benefits through taxation against my will, and my employer is required to match it against his will. Is not claiming unemployment benefits the same as not claiming your Social Security?

If you can certainly make it without the benefits, is that the same as wrecking your car and not calling State Farm to make a claim?

A penny for your thoughts. (unless your thought is "someone asked this same question last year, didn't you go back and read?")

I do not put unemployment in the same category with welfare. It is a benefit that you pay for while you work; and is very much like a type of insurance. In order to receive benefits, you have to have a record of employment, etc. You didn't ask, but what I don't agree with, is someone who waits out their benefits before they get another job.

  3. Finally....after a week of misery, she is feeling better. She got her "magic mouthwash", which has been a miracle! Thanks to all who suggested it. She has finally started to eat again. Next week starts another round of chemo...I am starting to dread it as much as she is..... :( :( :( :(

Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Send her a PM (NYGal's Sister) and let her know you are praying for her. She keeps telling me what to do "when she is gone", and I can't stand to have her think that way!!

Thanks in advance......we are still looking for that miracle we need!!

    Pcommers rock!!!

I am so happy for these small blessing for you and mostly for her.

May I please hear more about the magic mouthwash? A gentleman I work with is having a terrible time with "taste" after chemo.

My prayers continue for healing and comfort. Remember that as you pray, you have one hand in HIS hand and the other is holding your sister's hand. You are their connection.

  4. It was open yesterday - the funny thing is that I never knew it was really a store; but yesterday, I saw a lady sitting outside like she owned the place and I thought; wow! that's nice; someone opened a little store there.

Where, the heck have I been?

  5. a friend of mine found a cocker spaniel with no tags in the area of Dabbs Bridge Road/ Black acre Trail. do not know exact location... Please post here or pm me if you are missing a cocker. You must describe to claim! Will be scanning him for a chip and calling humane society....

    Thanks!

I adopted a dog from you folks about 6 weeks ago and just love him to piecces!! He has quite an "underbite" and now he put on a few pounds; not the prettiest guy on the block; but he fit right in with his new sisters and is a great addition to our home!

  6. Hi, This is the dad in question --

A couple things: For one, no, I didn't sign her out. Apparently, the paperwork from the other facility she was going to had not been faxed over as it should have been a few days beforehand.

Generally, I'm not one to overreact to situations, however, after all that I witnessed, when I got in the car and told my wife we're never bringing her back here that we can do better, she knew that something was up. I don't get to that point easily.

I understand that a room of 2 year olds can be a TOUGH job. Both Flops2 and I are fortunate enough to both work from home, so daycare is really only a socializing tool and a time for us to be able to get some errands or what not done.

Our previous experience at the other facility was always positive. The staff seemed professional and competent and they always seemed to have their rooms under control. Whenever I would pick my daughter up, she would naturally be happy to see me but always had a smile and a "bye bye guys!!" for her teachers and staff as she left. Today was the first time I've had her run to me and breakdown crying as soon as I picked her up.

Additionally, she was pretty filthy. I understand kids play and get dirty.. especially, on the playground, but how hard is it to take a wet wipe and wipe off her face and hands afterward? A part of me felt sorry for the teachers as they really seemed overwhelmed.

Maybe this is just an isolated incident, however, first impressions are usually lasting ones, and unfortunately, I can't get beyond this one to force myself to take my daughter back there.

Mine are all grown now but had a similar experience many years ago. Walked out and never went back. It broke my heart that I had her there even for one day and I did my homework up front and all sounded great. I followed up with a phone call and then a written letter confirming the call. You did the right thing. Everyone knows 2 yr olds are hard to control - but that is part of the day care business - you got em, you figure out what works to control them. Good for you!

  7. I saw a report on TV that says they have much more evidence than they are publicly discussing. There are also some people who think her family is defending her in hope that she will confess to them what happened so her body can be recovered; that they aren't really on her side; just hoping to gain information.

On the other hand, what can they hold her in jail for? Child neglect? Lying isn't exactly a big crime so I don't think they have much to legally stand on. I really think that they are hoping that by releasing her, she will spill the beans or lead them to her daughter.

  8. I am finding this very interesting - and not all business owners are responding. As I read this, I think I have been overly generous; because I am never sure. I want my stylist to feel compensated and appreciated but I don't want to be viewed as a sucker. I think I've been a sucker. I think I will tone it down a bit!

I really wish tipping would just go away - charge me what you want and let me decide if that is what I want to pay. I get it with the restaurant service; but I get lost in the hair department; it just seems to get convaluded (did I even spell that right?)

Sometimes the assistant spends almost as much time on me as the stylist - so I feel weird giving her $2 and the stylist, $25. Do we really not tip the owner?????? Hmmmm! I been doing that - quite nicely!

  9. Can any one advise me if it's legal & or appropiate for a doctors office charge you $35.00 to transfer your medical records to another doctor office ?.

If not legal what can we do Thank's

I have found this to be normal; disturbing, but normal. When you think of it as a business - they must use labor to make copies of everything (or request copies of test results) and then send them. As a business person, I see where they are coming from - but it sort of sucks.

  10. There are several farmers in N.Ga who sell direct. Check out a place called Gilmer Processing. Last time I got meat through there, 4 of us split a cow - 125# for each of us at $1.75 a lb. Great deal and it's pretty much organic, all grass fed beef. Word of warning though, if you've never had true grass fed beef it will taste strange for awhile. It's lower fat too!

Uh-oh - strange tasting, how? I wonder if I should taste it first. I love steaks! Thanks for your note.

  11. There are several local companies who have dedicated services; i.e., they run shuttle trucks from point A to point B for a particular local company. For example, our company manufactures at point A, shuttles the product to point B for distribution. This would be hourly. I know that Werner and Southern Freight does that; I am sure there are many others.

LTL drivers (less than truckload) have many local routes and you are always home at night. Examples would be Roadway, Estes, ABF (they train you for free), Old Dominion, Averritt, Fed Ex, DHL.

All of these companies also need dock laborers. Almost all, you can apply on-line. Starting with local delivery is a good way to get a feel for the business; many families and people are not cut out for over-the-road service.

    Good Luck

    Good Luck!

  12. Awww! This hits close to home. I am from Amish country in PA. And just spent a week in the waiting room at a trauma center with them. They were so delightful and pleasant and caring. Always smiling; so supportive. I know it is a joke; but I guess my recent memory is about how great they were while their loved one went thru a horrible buggy accident and how kind they were to me with my brother's trauma. They aren't as wierd as we think and Yes, I grew up with my mom telling me to stay away from the Amish boys when I went to the fair!!

  13. Darnit! I have a vacation day and wanted to get some meats. I drove right past it - I must have blinked! I will be interested to learn of their source for their meats; I am a bit picky about meats!! People at work make fun of me all the time.

I work in the food business and have quite a bit of knowledge about the fast food business. Never eat chicken nuggets!!!! Evil!!

But anxious to get some meats from WMM this weekend!

  14. We recently bought one from Sams in Hiram. It is a 7 cubic ft for $199.00

    Hope that helps,

Well, hello! I didn't even think about Sam's - great idea. Any idea if they deliver?

Are you happy with the quality? I don't need anything fancy - just can't deal with limited space available in the fridge model.

    Thanks for your reply!

  15. I have tons of business experience. I am looking to pay bills, organize your business records, file, record your receivables; whatever! I am great at setting up budget sheets. I can pick up and deliver your records. I am also capable of helping an elderly family member manage their bills, etc. I can supply excellent references on my character and honesty.

I work full time as a manager but looking to earn extra money to become debt-free (I am a huge Dave Ramsey fan).

Send a PM and I will give you my number.

  16. Thanks very much. Unfortunately, she is in NY and I am here. Our Aunt is a doctor, and a psychiatrist to boot, and is involved in her care, so I am sure she will be handing that end. She is the one who set up all the appts with the best of the best to treat her. Pays to have an Aunt running a hospital....thank God for small favors! :D

I worry because I don't know how much of a "fighter" she is. She has never been married, and has no children.....I think that is a huge factor in your outlook. If it was ME, I would do everything in my power to stay alive for my kids and my husband. I keep telling her how much I need her here.....she is my baby sister :( . We need all the prayers we can get.

It sounds like you have a wonderful resource nearby! My point with my brother was that God chose him to fight this battle and he was doing a disservice not to do so. I got a little mad with him and told him he had a host of loving people praying for him and he wasn't allowed to give up. Tough love . I'm sorry. I know you are worried and concerned. Damn, life deals out some crap. I pray for your comfort and that God takes her into his loving arms to take her fear from her and gives her and her caretakers strength and comfort. You are both on my prayer list. HE gives his love and strength!
