  1. This is currently a national issue - thought I'd post it.

Kennesaw State Financial Aid Director Ron Day says the mortgage loan crisis has spilled over into the student loan industry. "The lending community is having problems with liquidity; basically they don't have the money to pay the loads they have on the books and they can't make new loans," he said. "We have students who can't pay rent, buy books or pay travel expenses in the case of out of state students," Day added.

To help them out, KSU has asked faculty and staff to donate to the school's food pantry, known as Feed the Future.

You know, I love to help a kid; but deep inside is a voice saying "They have money for beer and and wings on Saturday night - do you REALLY want to give them food for Tuesday night??" LOL

  2. A co-worker got called out of town and her bording place was full so I have two tiny little house guest for the rest of the week....

It is so nice to know you are open for business! I have 4. So what week works best for YOU?? :)

  3. Just curious if anyone has seen this woman who sits in front of the Blockbuster on the grassy strip beside the sidewalk listening to an I-Pod? It looks like she is in a meditative state and her body slowly moves from left to right, as if she is in a trance and in a slow dance while sitting, sorta like some new age stuff? She sits right beside Dallas highway (10 ft away from it) at about 4:30-5:00 p.m. every day when there is a ton of traffic going west on Dallas highway.

Just curious why she likes to meditate right beside a highway in peak time traffic, doesn't seem to be the right enviroment to meditate in, but hey, thats just myopinion? Also, my wife and I were coming up Lost mtn. road and saw her walking up to the blockbuster where she normally sits, she busts a lot of karate like moves outta no where while she walks. She will be walking just fine and then throw some punches from out of no where and holds that position for a couple of seconds and then starts walking like nothing happened. All seems a bit odd, so thats why I am asking if anyone knows her story?

Reminds me of what you see on a regular basis every day in Manhattan. DD lives there and that type of behavior is common - I just LOVE it! So happy in their world of one!

  5. one of our customers popped in to pay their insurance yesterday and I was

in the process of slicing a red apple and a orange for a afternoon treat.

They proceeded to ask me if I liked green apples and muscadine.

    I said, a what?

Well, just moments ago I had my first muscadine and they ROTHLTAO!

My facial expression made them do a belly gut laugh. I was not warned

    that they were sour!

They are actually pretty TaStY! :good: They are bringing me some muscadine wine! :drinks:

    Muscadine wine quite good!

  6. Okay....my son is 14. Will be 15 in Oct. He, honestly, is a great kid. Honor roll, never any trouble in class, etc.....The other night he was going to the store to get something he needed for his face....for breakouts. I think, that's fine...no problem. But he came back with the face stuff AND had gotten his hair cut. He had gotten a MOHAWK!!!

I know...he has already been grounded for the sneaky way he went about it. But he knows his dad and I are against mohawks. Nothing against anyone who has one or is letting their kids get them. but it's just, not what I want him to have. His dad is a policeman and a former Marine. So, you can imagine how he feels about this....There is no way he would "allow" his son to get one. (we have 3 boys)

I know there could be a lot of worse things he could have done....but would you make him cut it, shave his head? Or do you let him have it? He thinks it looks cool. His friends, as far as I know, love it.

I'm at a loss as to how to handle this....

No big deal. It is just hair. Great student, great kid - good heart? How do we teach our kids it is what is on the inside that counts and then gripe about their hair. I look back now when my kids were young and there are things I would do over - and this would be one of them. I might tell him I don't necessarliy like it; but I know alot of fabulous, god praising young people with pink hair and piercings up one side and down the other. Jesus had hair down to the middle of his back. If that is one of your biggest worries with him - thank the Lord and move forward!

  7. Recipe Please!!! That sounds wonderful!

    :) :) :)

    SG

That is the recipe. Pkg of Zatrains Jambalay Rice. Brown gr beef and add to rice mixture as directed, using the same water (or beef stock). When finished cooking, allow to cool. Put mixture into whole pepper; I add a layer of shredded cheese in the middle. Stand the peppers in a casserole. I mix Classico Sausage jarred sp. sauce with some extra garlic powder and I add about 2 or 3 Tablespoons of sugar to reduce the acidic taste. (Or use your favorite recipe)

Put the sauce over the peppers, cover with foil - bake at 350 for, I don't know; maybe 35 to 45 minutes. The peppers should be done - soft but still able to hold their shape.

The secret is the Zatarains Jambalya mix - perfect seasoning!! I hope you like it - we LOVE it.

  8. You could make additional stuffed peppers (which I love) and give them to pcom members that respond to your post. :D

    You are so funny!

Seriously though - I use Zatarain's Jambalya Rice with browned ground beef and stuff them and then bake them in a sausage flavored sp. sauce w. a bit of sugar mixed in (and garlic). Sometimes layer cheese in the pepper. They are the best I've ever made!

  9. I have several green peppers from my tiny garden. I have a wonderful stuffed pepper recipe and have already frozen many. What else do you do with them? Can I freeze them in strips to use later in recipes?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

  10. Wonderful news! Another cutie patootie finds a loving home. I love how animals establish their pecking order. Recently added a boy doggie to my 3 girl doggies and he pretty much thought he would rule the roost - Oh no!! It didn't take him long to realize that he was not part of the lead - he was in the ensemble.

A funny note - all are "fixed" but he came in hoping for some riding action (if you get my drift). I looked at him and said - you know, only a boy would want to play that way!! He got over it after the girls put him in his place a few times!!

    Please post a pic!

  11. I have been considering looking for a new job, I am pretty uncomfortable with the one I've got. However, I am 5 months pregnant, give or take a week or two. I know people aren't supposed to discriminate against you cause you're knocked up, but it can happen.

So, my question is should I even bother looking? Or would it be a waste of time?

In all honesty - no, I wouldn't; and I know it isn't legal; but it also isn't practical if you are running a business. I get you trained; and then you're out and it costs money to train another person.

  12. Are yo kidding? What great service...Kudos to HD and especially Reggie. These days it's hard to get a thank you much less great customer service. You should call the HD home office and tell them what an asset they have in this young man. Sometimes they get a little extra something as a thank you from the company. Go Reggie!!

That is a great idea. He deserves some recognition!!

  13. My new freezer was delivered at 7:00 a.m. today form Home Depot. Because it was called a "store delivery", it doesn't include set up. The freezer was still in the box and I was saving $50 so I accepted it. The understanding was that they would deliver it to the inside of my garage which is exactly where I wanted it.

I thought it would be no problem to take the carton off and slide it into place and plug it in.

UH oh! It was bolted to a wooden frame to protect it during shipping. I just had no way to tip the freezer and lay it flat to undo the bolts.

I was so upset and called Home Depot. The friendly young man who sold me the freezer came to my house and proceeded to take off the wooden attachment and slide it into place. He absolutely would not accept any money. I put it into his shirt pocket and he took it out and asked me to please not pay him.

If you have to buy an appliance; please ask for Reggie. He was a really nice guy!!!! Thanks, Reggie!
