  1. I just don't understand how parents can allow their teenagers to drink. I have two daughters and they had several parties at our house while they were in high school. NEVER would I have allowed any of those kids to drink alcohol!!

Even if the party this boy was at had kids there out of high school, they are still underage as to drinking. I think the parents of the kid who threw the party should be answering some serious questions.

I'm just glad no one else was injured and, hopefully, this boy will recover and will learn from this awful mistake he made.

  2. Just wanted to say that for the first time I can recall, I went to Wal-Mart about 9:30 this morning, found a close parking space, walked down uncrowded isles, and was first in line at the check-out counter. I don't know what happened but I think it was some kind of miracle!!

In and out in less than 30 minutes!!!

  3. I do not drink and drive. I have done it in the past when I was much younger and very stupid. I never had an accident or a DUI. Sometimes I don't know how I even made it home. Very young, very lucky, but STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!

Would not even think of doing it now. I know people who have had DUI's. All it took was one and it changed their way of thinking. They no longer do it. The only person I knew he continued DUI's over the course of our marriage. He never served any time except for the time between his arrest and getting bonded out. I got him out after the first one. Swore I woudn't do it again and I didn't. His friends did. I finally got smart and divorced him. He's in prison now for 15 years but it's not for DUI. But you can bet that Paulding County is a much safer place fo a lot of reasons now that he is off the streets.

I think it all depends on the BAC. With the change in the legal limit, you can be declared drunk for having one beer. I think that's ridiculous. There is a difference in having a drink and being drunk. However, if a person is caught driving drunk, I like the idea of having some distinguishing mark on his car or his tag or something else so that the public sees him driving around and knows that he does drink and drive.

I don't think there should be mandatory jail time for the first offense because everyone can make a mistake. If there is mandatory jail time for first offenders, it should be done on weekends so that they can't be in the bars drinking again!! That way they can at least keep their jobs. I think that 2nd, 3rd, etc. deserves some serious jail time because it means that they didn't learn anything from the first time!!!

  4. I talked to my daughter today because she used to attend GCA. She knew exactly who this guy was. She said he was always very nice but she said she noticed he acted a little too friendly with some of the girls. She said she never saw him do anything unappropriate. He was just a little too flirty with the younger girls. He did not coach her but was there coaching others.

I wholeheartedly agree that the parents need to stay with their children at whatever practices they may have. I never left mine alone at practice, and they were both involved in dance, gymnastics, girl scouts, cheerleading, softball, and basketball, beginning when they were around 5. Being a parent is a lot of work. But it's better to not put your child in a circumstance they might not be able to handle. Just being there and being involved can sometimes be the necessary deterent to keep a pedophile away from your child.

I don't think anyone should blame GCA. They were great with my daughter. She enjoyed her time there. She quit because she chose to go to work and buy herself a car when she turned 16.

  5. We'd been in our house almost 2 years when Opal hit. We slept through it. The next morning, I was getting ready to go to work and I heard something that sounded like running water in my living room. A tree had fallen on our roof, taking our our chimney, and the rain was coming into our living room. My husband was a roofer so I called him and he came home and repaired the damage. I can't remember if we lost power. I think we probably did for a few hours. I live off of Ridge Road by P. B. Ritch.

I remember the Blizzard better. Everyone laughed when I went to the store to stock up on food. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. We lived in Powder Springs at the time. I was out of work for a week!!! We didn't lose power so it was great!!

I had not heard that Frances was supposed to do anything here in Georgia. Does anyone know if Frances is supposed to hit in or near Asheville, North Carolina? I'm supposed to be going on a business trip that I REALLY don't want to go on. I certainly don't want anyone hurt but I'd like to not have to go!! And if Hurricane Frances can keep me home. . .GREAT!!!!

  6. My daughter used to cheer for Hiram High. She went to one of the gyms because the cheerleading coach encouraged the squad to do so. I can't remember the name, but there were both male and female coaches. I never saw anything inappropriate. Before that, she went to Axis, a gym in Kennesaw. That was the first time I ever saw guys working with the young girls. The ones there seemed to be very nice young men; however, they did a lot of stunts with the girls and it was not uncommon to see them place their hand under the girls' butts or even between their legs to put them up in a stunt. I saw it many times. None of the young girls or their parents seemed to find anything wrong with this. My daughter loved her coach, and it was a guy. I never saw him doing this but other guys did.

I personally would not have wanted any of the young men to be holding my daughter's butt. Luckily, she was a base and not a flyer. And if you watch the cheerleading competitions on TV, you will see that is just what they do.

But. . .I never would have left my daughter alone with ANY of the male coaches. In this day and time, you can't trust anyone. . .even someone you think you know well. Pedophiles are everywhere and they don't have two heads or anything else weird to identify them.

I just hope that if the allegations are true, the guy goes to prison. He will be taken care of there. They don't like child molesters in prison!! If he's not guilty, I think there should be severe repercussions for the girl who made the accusations. It's not a joke to destroy someone's life.

  7. My husband has started his own business and, as some of you probably know, it is not always easy getting started. He does work in the Paulding/Douglas County areas. His company does any type of home improvements, large or small. They do excellent work and all work is guaranteed. Please keep him in mind if you or anyone you know needs any home improvements.

His name is Gary Rosser and he can be reached at 770-361-6943 or 770-949-3346.

The company name is Bartee Services.
