Did sticking people in the Bastille back in 1788 justify the heads that rolled in 1794 in the French Revolution? How about the imposition of a tax on tea? Did that justify the American Revolution? Or the election of Abraham Lincoln and the implied threat to attack the institution of slavery justify the violence of the Civil War? Or even better, did loosing the NCAA Basketball Championship justify a riot? But NO, nothing really justifies the violence ... but good luck finding a place where riots won't happen. The point is that frustrating people, beating them down, disappointing t

Musk drops price on battery storage product like a happy bomb
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
What you're talking about with the Bloom Box is a fuel cell development ... and fuel cells continue to develop. From the same source as the text above, (greentechmedia) is this bit on the NSA taking one of bloom's boxes for their Ft. Meade operation. You can see from this that Toyota bought into the fuel cell. I did see another story about bloom boxes in Delaware where they apparently are now being tied up in court. You know there is big money and big bets being made on this stuff and they use the courts to thwart things if it promises to make them a buck. pubby -

What is really funny is you think that any American president, elected by our system, serves anyone other than the powers that be in the nation. All that Obama does and can do is based on the humanity of a portion of the ultra-rich who use him as a proxy for their liberal beliefs while a colder-meaner group seeking additional advantage, have been promoting folks like Romney. Heck, I read where the division that counted in 2012 was between the international bankers and the hedge fund folks with the hedge funders backing Romney because he was going to allow the speculators to bring the mone

But then zorro, I understand, you're from that part of society that seeks to divide and pit the regular folks against each other, destroy hope and all that kind of jazz because it fits the agenda of the powers that be. In that role it is important to be able to call out others with pejoratives whether the particular cat-call is 'liberal, thug, atheist, commie, pinko or queer.' Let me add that I'm pretty sure that you don't even do this 'consciously'. I say that because many folks simply emulate the attitudes and discussions from talk radio, Fox News and their myriad of other sources ...

I believe the intent of the guy who made the statement that the public official who called the people thugs was just to chicken to use the N-word in referencing the miscreants. Indeed, I was quite interested in the conversation that took place in Baltimore yesterday with Larry Wilmore of the Nightly Show. Seems the 'gangs' were uniting ... to protect the neighborhood - not from thugs, gangs or police - but from the stupid kids (high schoolers and middle schooles) who were too ignorant to control their emotions. A pejorative is a pejorative. So is the 'n-word' (a pejorative) I don't know that it is a rule that you have to use either pejorative. Fact is, we might get further along if we used neither. pubby

New evidence suggests childhood lead exposure may have a persistent and irreversible effect on IQ during the adult years. A 30 year follow-up study in Boston found that even low level exposure to lead during childhood – that is, at or below the U.S. level of concern of 10 µg/dL – may impair adult cognitive function enough to lower IQ scores. Even small decreases in IQ can increase the number of people in society who need extra help in school or who may have difficulty finding work. Although it is well known that lead exposure during childhood can decrease cognitive function in children, th

Boy you are cold. Some one is physically injured by a known poison and you spin politics. Here is one very telling graph in the Wiki on lead poisoning: Rioting ... know that the lead in the parents blood made them less controlled, more irritable and aggressive ... hence the physical reaction also due to lead. They actually went in and tore up a factory. That's pretty radical for Chinese, you know. (t he following from the Lancet). Lead poisoning has been with us since lead was first used. Some have opined that the lead the Romans' used in their plumbing and aqueduct

What if they - I mean all the rioters - were poisoned ... and the poison was critical to their action/reaction to not just authority but to self control. Baltimore is like a lot of older cities ... People live in bad places with environmental poisons all around. That lead could be the culprit ... See this 2013 article in The Guardian: A little reported fact associated with the Eddie Gray case is that the kid who died and a very large portion of those kids who grew up poor in places like Baltimore were being literally poisoned ... by the remnants of lead paint. Do know wh

It feels a lot like Andy Dufresne in the Shawshank Redemption being told that he was wasting his time asking the government to add books and resources to the prison library. Years he wrote them weekly with out so much as a response. Then, out of the blue, they sent him some books and records along with a note that said, stop writing. As the parent of a 23 year old child with autism, the need was there a long time ago. While I'm not particularly surprised - I'm actually a bit amused because this was such an obvious (and easy) fix that brings in funding from sources other than the stat

This is in the wild-side because Palast asserts that he was accused of being a conspiracy theorist when he suggested that we are an oligarchy and that the oligarchs are all about selecting, rather than electing people to office. What was particularly interesting in this piece was that Palast made the case for a split in the oligarchs with the hedge fund managers - he calls them cowboys - at odds with the big bankers (Citi, Wells Fargo, BOA, Chase) in the 2012 election. BTW, he put the hedge fund folks on the side of Romney and opined that the alleged payoff for his support was theability
