Do you read the obituaries?
dumbestgirlintheworld replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thank GOD it's not just me! I also learned that Wal-mart sells caskets! http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=casket&ic=48_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0 $995! -
I see the posts on here, so I wandered over to that site. So many young people. And I know it's morbid, but I want to know why! For instance, a 36 year old that died at home. Am I the only one?

Information sharing? You mean, like the information we had about terrorists training, on our soil, and planning to fly planes into buildings? Oh wait... http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/12/02/wikileaks-revealed-diplomatic-diplomats/ "But the vast majority of cables are routine and unremarkable, are colored by the world view of the Foreign Service officers who write them, and will never be seen by anyone more senior than a desk officer at Main State." It's one of those "move along, nothing to see here" kinda things.

Or the documents aren't? I'd be more willing to believe that the US purposefully manufactured all these events than to believe that someone, anyone, just yanked thousands of classified records from the federal government. I've worked for 2 internet security companies, one of which worked exclusively for the fed, and I know the technology, I've seen the NOCs, the log files, the post 9-11 closed door daily meetings. I just don't buy it. These things just don't walk out of the virtual filing cabinet.

I started reading them today and I'm totally into it! They read like a good spy novel! Polonium Read I'm reading this one....they track this dude to try and find out if he's carrying polonium (You may remember the Russian spy that was poisoned with it some years ago). " - On October 30, Kovtun kept an appointment with the Office of Foreigner Registration in Hamburg-Altona, where he signed a document. His signature has tested positive for radiation." How does a signature test positive for radiation?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not the best "deal hunter" at holiday time.

Any restaurants take checks anymore?

Hence, why I pay for nearly everything with a credit card. Convenience meets security. -
Yeah, this is crazy. They have so many hidden problems, that people call a "curse". I call it karma. As for the institutions - I think that people put their family there because they really felt that they would get better care or that they could even possibly be healed. Remember, once upon a time, more than one generation shared a home. And we may take care of our mentally disabled, but we put perfectly healthy people in homes because they're "old".

That's what popped in my mind...the whole "floating a check" thing. But then i thought that surely someone wouldn't float a check to GO OUT TO EAT. And then I thought that maybe they lost their debit card and couldn't get to the bank during business hours to take out money. I went with the benefit of the doubt. Lots of people nay say credit cards, but the latter reason is exactly why I have them. Well, and points. -

Why? I was in the grocery line behind someone that was writing a check. Why would anyone write a check these days? -
They all do that crap. Bing is fine. I just get seriously miffed at their doodles. They're so communist and left...all.the.time.

I hate to say this, because I heard it, but I can't wait to see how you feel 10 years from now. I don't know about you, at 10 I was on my bike from sun up to sun down and I had to call at lunchtime, but mostly so that my mom knew I ate something. I won't let my kid ride his bike in the caul-de-sac without me out there. -

I'm not nearly as neurotic as some parents out there, and even I sit there and think things like: Should I get him a cell phone, or should I look into one of those GPS units that can be implanted in the shoe? Is it okay for him to go on that camping trip with the church, even though that one father going just recently showed up on the scene? Did I remember to put the content filter on the ipad after I visited...ok, so that one I never forget. but, my point is that the world we live in is so different, then even when I was a kid. I try to teach my son good, and in some ways I think that -
I just went and got these ugly things...in all black (my son has to have all black for his uniform). They look and feel so cheap! And I paid $75 for them. I came *this* close to buying him the Nike shocks, but decided to get him what he wanted. As if any 8 year should have a say, pft.

This is a question for you BLUE (and maybe MrsB), did you consider the current state of the world when you decided to get pregnant? I have made a conscience decision not to bring anymore children into the world because of the terrible state that it's in and the unlikelihood of improvement. I don't think that I would feel the same if I didn't have any kids, but now being a parent and knowing how much I want to shield my son from all of this cruelty, I couldn't expose another human being to any of it - especially the indecency to one another. -
Well, it's "World" AIDS awareness day. Believe it or not, the rest of the world does not revolve around the United States of America and our "holidays"!

There may be a truth here. I don't typically read much of the news. December is understandably slow at the office, so I find myself reading current events more often. Maybe that's why it seems more shocking than normal. I do wonder, if we had more severe punishments, would people still do this? Look at Singapore, China or Dubai. They have severe punishments for seemingly menial offenses. -
I've been following the 3 missing boys in Michigan. They're certainly dead - at the hands of their own father. In the same article today they said a separate incident happened in the same area last week: A similar search in Ohio was conducted a few weeks ago about 130 miles to the southeast after a mother from Howard, Ohio, her friend, 13-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son disappeared. Police say the girl was found bound and gagged in a 30-year-old unemployed tree-cutter's basement and that he led them to the dismembered bodies of the other three stuffed in a hollow tree trunk. It w

Today is the 55th anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to move off the bus. A great day in American history, without a doubt. Also, IMO, a celebration which continues to divide a nation and continue to keep racism alive. Still - 55 years later, Google's doodle is celebrating her accomplishments. Do you know what else today is? World AIDS Awareness Day. As a person that has seen many lose their life, as a person that knows someone that is currently conquering the disease - I wish Google would bring awareness to a CURRENT crisis in the world. To the 1.1M Americans living with AIDS, to the

I asked last night! Pubby said he'd be happy to make me a skin with a hat on the snowman for a fee...but he would make it available to the rest of the board. Love Pubby.
