  1. Paulding County’s Nichols family in finals of ABC’s ‘Family Food Fight’ Paulding County’s the Nichols family has a shot at taking home the $100,000 prize Thursday for ABC’s first season of “Family Food Fight.” The Nichols, in the meantime, have been underdogs from the start, their country twang and focus on Southern food making it easy to under-estimate them. Tammy Nichols, 50, a retired project manager with an architectural background, runs a popular “Collard Valley Cooks” YouTube channel with 43,000 subscribers. “I can make art on a plate,” she said. Her motto: “C
  2. Right there with you. I am not into change. Unfortunately the old board was kinda of broken you just couldn't see it from this side. We are all still learning almost every day. I am glad you were able to figure it out enough to make a post about produce day.
  3. In my opinion this has always been the issue with legalizing marijuana. If there is an accident there is no test for levels that are accurate. Now there is no way to test percentages in what is found in one's possession. You can buy it rolled just like a joint and it smells and looks the same. Vaping it is the same people can get illegal strength oil and edibles. Some of the newer generation weed is strong enough to be incapacitating to some people.
  4. Paulding DA not prosecuting pot possession as police agencies go 'case by case' on arrests Paulding's district attorney has stopped prosecuting some cases until a new testing method is found or a law is updated to make it clear to officers the legal and illegal parts of the same plant. The new law allows buyers to possess hemp with a THC concentration of 0.3 percent or less, according to the news website Curbed Atlanta. However, some Georgia prosecutors and judges have said the new law has made it difficult for police agencies to enforce marijuana laws. The mos
  5. I have a neighbor on Braswell mountain I buy as much of my produce as possible from. He works really hard on his garden. Of course it is not his only income he could not live on what he makes from the garden. They can a lot so if things got rough the grocery bill could be supplemented. I try to support local as much as possible. I learned during the recession that some areas fare better than others in recessions. For Paulding, the housing, retail and restaurant do poorly in recessions so we will be hit hard.
  6. I remember the last recession and how sad it was. Many of my friends lost their jobs or a spouse did. No more dinners out, lunches, shopping. Everyone tightened their belt. Many lost businesses and homes. I don't think many ever recovered emotionally from it. I just don't think our generation has felt truly financially secure since. We are not going without, but our expenses especially insurance right now are so high that a reduction in income is a scary thought. I am appalled that Americans are not rallying around our farmers. Between tariffs and climate change a recession migh

  13. That is a ton of responsibility ( pun intended ). I applaud them for first of all noticing or taking someone who did seriously and taking action. The next question is why because engineering and design is not cheap nor is concrete work on that scale. Large projects such as that end to go to the same companies over and over. The vetting process should be transparent yet is not always. A lot of tax dollars are given to hospitals and in this case private donors gave a lot too. Everyone makes mistakes but as far as I am concerned if this is major, this companies work should be looked into. I wonde

  15. Why would you bring the president into this? Please quit making everything about politics. Don't bother to explain why you did please don't do it again. Politics beyond GA are dead on p.com.
  16. My understanding is they put your premiums in the bank and collect interest. When they have to pay our claim they lose interest on that money. That is why they take forever to pay claims. Insurance is suitable for inanimate objects, the company makes profit by investing and paying far fewer claims in some cases through depreciation. With health insurance they only profit is they don't pay claims or pay them fully. There is more than enough money to pay for all the healthcare Americans need when you cut out insurance. A lot of money is diverted through paying for processing instead of paying in
  17. I think in the simplest terms possible they are insuring through the state. I think it is a little bit like an insurance company run by the state for people that can not get it any other way, I think they are extremely high risk. He wrote those policies then billed the state for them. Then turned around and ran as commissioner effectively securing his deals or so he thought. I also think the state supplements the policy making the insurance affordable. So the state and homeowner paid the premiums to Beck. I assume it was supposed to go into a fund to pay claims. I am not well versed in this s
  18. Georgia Insurance Commissioner wants board members' resignations There is a major shake-up underway at the Office of Insurance and Fire Safety Commission. After six weeks on the job, Georgia's new Insurance Commissioner, John King, has requested the resignation of the entire board of directors of the Georgia Underwriting Association. Governor Kemp suspended the newly elected Beck after the indictment was unsealed. The Governor appointed Joh

  20. I had to look up a lot of definitions about politics to try and understand what people believed. I was just as lost after I looked it up. I guess the terms are generalized and the blanks are fill in as needed. I don't want to be defined like that.
