  1. I LOVE rutabagas!! But, I do NOT know how to cook them. Tell me your secrets on coking rutabagas. Please..............tia

I am learning the hard way with them, I have found that you need to peal them deep for them to be tender.

You still have to boil them until they turn a deep golden color. I like to add a pinch of sugar if they are a little bitter, then mash with butter, salt and pepper. I have found them to be a bit like carrots some are sweeter than others.

  2. I love the stories about first timers cooking the giblets in the bird.

Share your first time cooking a holiday meal.

Of course my sister in law that told her mother that she did not need to learn to cook because she was going to collage and hire someone to do it.

She has been the only cook I have ever known that people actually get sick after eating her food.

she is a sweetheart and a great mom but a cook she is not!

  3. I only put a pinch of sage in my dressing. Only use cornbread and about 6 slices of 'stale' white bread or biscuits... depends on what is on hand.

We have mashed potatos, sweet potatoes, green beans (not the casserole), mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce.... I think that's it. So, I don't guess we have a 'bitter'. I may have to add turnip greens this year. Great idea, Laurie!!!

My husband loves green bean casserole. My side of the family are big casserole people.

    Squash casserole

    green bean casserole

    broccoli casserole

    Mac&cheese

    Sweet potato casserole

And of course the stuffing and mashed potatoes it's too rich for me when you add rolls.

I am the one that usually adds carrots, corn, and greens to the menu. The kids appreciate the corn and carrots.

  4. Yes...we have collard and turnip greens mixed...

cajun seafood dressing...made like traditional dressing but with crabmeat, ground pork, cajun seasonings....

My dressing is not Cajun but I do prefer real sage sausage in mine, my mother would just add a teaspoon of sage.My Yankee husband would prefer I use Jiffy cornbread which was how I converted him to it.

Now he likes it I don't put the cake disguised as cornbread in it

  5. Forget going to Villa Rica, and doing the family thing -- I'm going to LPPT's -- Anyone else wanna go?!?!?! Maybe throw LPPT in the pool!!!

I will be in N-FL, the weather is the same as here, no pool time!!!

  6. We have stuffing in Fl and dressing in TN. Mine is a little of both, I put more bread in my cornbread dressing.

We have all the traditional stuff as always.

I did want to ask if others like to have what I call bitters on the table. Most like the sweeter veggies and side dishes. I like to have a bitter, such as collard greens or turnips.

    My favorite has become rutabagas.

  7. Which does your family prefer?

We end up having both, the family travels to FL for the holiday so usually we get together for more than one meal. Turkey on Thanksgiving and a ham the next night.

Same thing at Christmas dinner in Tn. turkey and ham because we have a lot of people.

Personally I would never miss the turkey.

  8. I hate that intersection.

I have a meeting at Rodney's at 8-8:30 every Wednesday morning. You round a curve and you are blind from the morning sun. I happens so suddenly that your eyes take about 30 seconds to adjust. that is enough time to wonder into the other lane or rear end someone turning left.

  9. is the interview up to be watche? I'd like to see it if possible. Also does anyone know what part of PC this was in? I'm curious since they may have been on my bus at one point...

The video I took was of the press conference held by the lawyers of the parents. Is that what you are looking for?

  10. Oh no! He was just on here last week. What happened? His son Matthew went to school with my son at Northside. He and his wife were real sweet.

Johnny had been battling cancer for the last year. As the cancer ravaged his body p.com was one of the last things he could enjoy. His family says that it kept him going, Pubby and I also know it was important to him. He is at peace now and out of pain.

  11. What's worse, is that the innocent people on the bike will have to live with this for the rest of their lives... and they didn't do anything wrong. I have no sympathy for the drunk who hit them and left the scene. I hope this haunts her for the rest of her life and that she passes this hard lesson on to the ones she loves.

My sympathy does not lie with her either, it was meant for people to think about what can happen with even one lapse in judgement. It's not worth anyone's life.

  12. She ran because she was drunk. My friend was right behind them (you maybe can see her car stopped in the lane in your footage) The motorcycle drivers were from New York and so were their friends who were in the red truck behind the drunk drivers in most footage. They were not local people. The males injuries were called 'critical' and the females 'serious' according to emergency crews. Yes, I was standing there. Yes, I spoke to the friends they were traveling with. Yes, the male in the drunk drivers vehicle was taken into custody. As of 7pm when they pulled the motorcycle off the roadway, the woman had not been found.

Thank you for pointing out the witnesses to me.

I want people to see firsthand what drunk driving causes. Call a cab, make arrangement with friends, or stay where you are. This women will have to live with what she did for the rest of her life. It was not worth it.

  13. I'm R-E-A-L-L-Y sorry, but I have NO SYMPATHY for the BIOTCH who hit these people and fled. They need to find her and choot her. Prayers to the victims.

My son-in-law saw this accident and was very concerned when he came home.

you need to listen very carefully to the eyewitness account. You will be appalled when you pick up on what happened before they backed the car up.http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/293962-motorcycle-accident-victim-life-flighted-in-possible-hit-and-run/page__view__findpost__p__3708624

  14. There was an accident this evening on Merchants Drive in front of the Wendys.

An Isuzu wagon hit 2 people on a motor cycle. The vehicle came to a stop on top of the motorcycle victims. The passengers of the vehicle stepped out to examine the scene. The female driver got back in the vehicle and backed it off of the motorcycle victims. The female driver of the vehicle fled when Georgia State Patrol arrived on the scene and is still at large. The male passenger was given a breathalyzer and taken into custody. Passenger of the motorcycle left the scene by ambulance and the driver was life flighted.

We have video and eyewitness testimony from the scene. We are editing and will have it up later this evening. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

  15. Good job, Judge Valbuena! I'm glad they're getting a taste of their own medicine by being confined! Hopefully Mitch Comer receives the justice he deserves!

You are not going to like the interview with the lawyers.

This is very emotional for everyone, like or not these 2 people are innocent at this point.

I am sorry that I missed the morning session there was a lot of testimony.

    This was about flight risk.

  16. The attorneys for the Comers requested 10,000 bond and ankle bracelets.

They testified that the Comers loved their children and would not be a flight risk.

The detective on the case testified that the Comers had moved 15 times in 5 different states. Also that when they lived in Cherokee a DFACS investigation resulted in mandatory counseling, the Comers moved to Paulding to avoid counseling.

Testimony from the company that monitors security bracelets admitted that they could and have been cut. District attorney Cole brought up a case where a man in Paulding charged with murder cut his and ran.

When the detective was ask if in his opinion he felt like the Comers loved their children enough to stay here and see it through, the detective answered strongly that no he did not. When ask what he based that on he said their phone calls that were recorded in jail never mentioned their children or any concern. Mrs Comers attorney rebutted with the claim that they had been told not to talk about the kids.

The DA brought up that they were renting and saw nothing to compel them to stay and face charges.

Judge Valbuena denied bond based on this. He will reconsider after investigations are all complete from every address that they have lived at.

I have press conference from the Comer's lawyer, on video that is rendering. I could not find DA Cole for an interview.

The Comers are to remain in protective custody in the Paulding correctional facility until the investigation of out of state records is complete and another hearing is scheduled.

  17. LPPT I consider you pretty smart but this post has my head spinning in circles. You are aware this factory wasn't in the US right?

Your head is spinning, then you understand how I feel about many of the contradictory things I hear. People are making to much, they are living too good. We are spoiled, the poor live too well in this country. Union workers make too much. It is all the American people's fault for expecting too much, now the poor American companies have to go over seas to make a profit. If we would just accept less of everything our companies would stay right here. We Americans are a spoiled lot that want a good privileged life that nobody deserves but the few very rich.

Then you talk to people about their lives and they are special, better than others, they deserve a lot of these things, but the only way for them to have them is to make sure x amount of folks get as little as possible and generally no matter how hard they work.

This is my point and my bottom line. I happen to be proud of America and how the majority of people live here. Even our poorest. I am proud the seniors and disabled live independently with dignity.

I am not proud of people that take advantage, but I would never consider pulling everyone down because of them.

The finger pointing gets on my last nerve. I believe our one and only true problem with our economy is the companies that were built and nurtured to their success have taken the money and left the country for higher profits, not for more money as in failing but for a bigger number on a bottom line.

40% of the people in this country have something called learned dependance, the shame of that is about 20% of them do work and are willing to work, our standard of living has been driven up to the point that they have become dependent, now we are in trouble we want to attack these people and push them out.

Our government has become a conglomeration of cogs that don't think but only work for a check and that is what is at the bottom of everything.

Going after the poor, the disabled and elderly for sucking up resources is morally wrong, the decision makers are squarely at fault.

This is why I want to hear how Romney felt about what he saw, how did he react, what good did he find in it? I think we all know the answer without asking him quite frankly.

  18. I am interested in how Romney felt about what he saw.

I personally know so many people that desperately want a job. Their unemployment has run out.

What kind of opportunity did Romney see when he saw that factory?

Do most people in this country that are employed make to much money?

Do working people live better than they should?

Should we all make a little less money and live at a lower standard so there are more jobs to go around.

We know union workers make too much money, who exactly deserves what they get paid and who doesn't?

Should full time workers be able to make ends meet? or should they be penalized for unskilled labor by having to share housing and expenses.

I am always curious about how people picture things in a realistic manner. There are a lot of bullets flying around, a lot of little sayings repeated, but it is hard for me to grasp what people are picturing when they see them or repeat them.

I have ask many times what poverty should look and feel like in America. When I think of poverty I see depression pictures, dirty skinny people. Of course they were never blamed, leaders were blamed.

Is it different now? I know there are poor people, with the exception of the people living under the over passes in Atlanta I never see dirty skinny people.

Do people think that unskilled minimum wage earners should be skinny, dirty, and homeless?

We are hating on them because our taxes supplement their living.

Actually many of the lower income folks I have known are chubby from the cheap starch they live on.

I want to know how Romney felt about these people, that is the most important thing to me. Did he feel sorry for they way they were force to live, or did he see it as a way to make a lot of money? did he jump all over the opportunity to profit from the situation?

How much we he like to see big business profiting from something like this in America?

I would like to see him answer these questions in an interview.

  19. I hope it's okay if I post my resume here. Hopefully someone can help me out. I'm in need of a full time job, or part time, either in office or independent contracting. Please PM or call me at 678-315-8794. Thanks

    Glenn

Remind me to get my tiller to you for a tune-up before I put it up for the winter.

  20. We went to eat at Bud's Sports Bar on Friday night and we were there an hour before we received our food. The service was so slow. The waitress kept telling us our food would be right out and she did this three or four times and she saw how irritated we were becoming. We were excited about this place opening up but if this is how the service is gonna be there, we will not be back.

I hate to hear that, we got some of the same feedback about the New Mexican restaurant, I think it just takes time to get a good team together.

Most get it together in the first 6 weeks. Kay is a wonderful person she is trying to create a really good restaurant and atmosphere there.

I am looking forward to having a nice place to go in the evenings with friends.
