Because Penske isn't a coach or a mentor he is a boss. He won't put up with bullcheeze thinking he can get someone to change. Gibbs coached the biggest egos in the world - NFL players and was successful at it, all a matter of what your boss is going to put up with.

Nice win for one of the best auto racers ever. I know the commericals are a joke about him being in an F1 car but I would like to see him do it. I don't watch much Nascar anymore but I will forever be a Smoke fan.

Crybaby Busch is a good driver but I would NEVER put him in the same class of drivers with Dale Earnhardt, Sr!!!
I missed that. What was their statement? You are right - Joe Gibbs has much more to lose than he does to gain by keeping Busch in the car.
He's actually better then Sr....according to a lot of folks that know more then both of us. His car control is amazing.
As for when enough is enough if you look back over history he does the same thing that used to be done all the time, anyone recall this?
or this...
or these on track issues....
One reason I barely watch anymore is because Nascar is so PC and so worried about being family friendly for their corporate sponsors

Anyone remember a guy named Tony Stewart?
Or a car black car with a 3 on it....something else those three have in common other then anger issues - they are three of the best pure drivers in the history of the sport.
-
R.I.P. Dan - one hell of a driver, and from what I hear a hell of a man.
Haven't kept up with Indy in a few years, but I always enjoyed watching him race.

I thought this one was interesting - story here: http://www.wsbtv.com...401/detail.html
I find it doubtful it would fetch that price at auction, maybe 100K. Its a four door in the wrong color, a bad year etc. Watch Barrett Jackson and see how these "historic" one off cars with tech do when they hype them, not very well unless it has other selling points. Most car folks don't care about airbags IMO.

I can relate to the string story. I can't tell you how many times folks would come in with string, sticks, cardboard all kinds of stuff saying "cut it this long" when I worked at Home Depot.

Talking with some Canadians who know the difference in our health care and theirs, would they would take ours anyday.
But there are a lot of Canadians who are just too proud to tell anyone the truth. Sure didn't take long to see how good the socialized dental plan in the UK was, did it?
I'll make sure to tell my relatives that they are to afraid to tell the truth. They have lived in the US and in Canada. Some prefer the Canada system, others prefer the US one...but I guess if anyone disagrees with your opinion they are afraid to speak the truth? Your way of think is the way the truth and the life? Maybe you should change your screen name to Jesus and your avator to a photo of a Mexican lawn care professional.
The fact is that if you have had issues with the health care system no matter where you live you aren't going to like it. BOTH systems have their pros and cons and BOTH need to be revamped.
as always when this topic comes up I will note I am 100% AGAINST Obama care.

No wonder I haven't seen that commerical where they compare a four year old Corolla to a Ford Fusion any more. Keep buying those "american" cars folks. just hope you can control 'em so you don't rear end me.

Just got back from the race (Still not sure why I took such an early flight this AM, I need 3-4 of those 5 hour energy drinks right about now). Not sure how it looked on TV but live it was not all that thrilling. Bunch of cars playing duck duck goose. There wasn't a lot of drama because after the first 100 miles it was clear that the "push" car couldn't pass the lead car in these stupid 2 car drafts. Not sure why this was an issue this year, but it was a boring race other then seeing the Wood Bros. back in victory lane and seeing the dynamic duo bout finish multiple laps down. If Smoke couldn't win it seeing that kid beat all these seasoned vets was pretty cool....
-
The race was entertaining but I am glad they did something to stop this two car draft garbage, that isn't racing....now if they would only get rid of the idiots that cover the race on Fox I may be able to enjoy NASCAR again.

It amazes me how people will defend the county keeping this out of court no matter what the reason. No matter who is right or wrong this should have stopped years ago, and a lot of TAX PAYER dollars ago. It equally amazes me that a lot of you are "tea Party" folks who believe in less spending and less gov't. This is a PERFECT example of what is wrong with the system and yet the actions are being defended. How much of the money spent on keeping this case out of court could have been used to improve schools, roads, or balance the county budget?
That this can go on for FIVE years at ANY cost CAN NOT be defended....well it can, but it shows ones true colors.

So, who reviews the work of their attorneys to see how many of their fees are out of line?
WAIT...are you suggesting that an atty's office would over charge a gov't for profit? NOOOOOOOOO.
-
Where is there a mishandling of funds? If you are talking about the campaign contributions and the law firm contributing to several candidate's campaigns, I hate to bust your bubble but those campaign contributions that are mentioned in this thread are perfectly legal and ethical.
There is NOTHING ethical in the handling of campaign contributions in this nation at ANY level of Gov't.

Again, IF surepip and his family have been wronged, it should be made right and I wish them the best. Should the jury of our peers in Paulding County not rule in his favor, then I will feel the judicial process has spoken - that is all we can ask of them and we all have to remember that we don't live in a perfect world.
One thing that should out rage us all, and is not in question is the amount of time this case has been going on. FIVE YEARS of tax payer money has been spent to AVOID this case going to a jury of peers....there is NO EXCUSE for that, and anyone that has paid taxes in PC over that time period has an absolute right to be outraged over the waste of their money - no matter how much the amount is.

The last time that the Coen Brothers met up with Jeff Bridges, they brought us The Big Lebowski.
I am excited for this movie.
Yup.
People get hung up on "classics" being remade. I always enjoy seeing how other people retell a story. Given the talent in this film I am looking forward to it even more.

Good grief have times changed. A fight on the bus now requires a ride to jail. Amazing.

I stand corrected re: Burton. (I don't remember the Stewart incident...yeah, that would be fun to watch! )
I think it was his rookie year or the year after - right around the same time he went after Robbie Gordon, of course that guy attempted to hit back.
-
Jeff Gordon IS a little girl. And Burton is a class act. I've always liked his nice, upbeat manner.
you are half right, Gordon is a girl, he proved that with his second "slap" fight of his career. My favorite is when Stewart went after him and he almost pee'd himself a few years back.
now, with Burton, you may want to listen in on his scanner now and then. You will hear a lot of four letter F words, and I'm not talking about Fuel...doesn't bother me, but class act may be a little over the top.

nascar is boring as hell lately....I wouldn't call this much of a fight either.

There is most likely more to this story.
Home Depot is anti-union. They will find ways to fire employees that attempt to start one. I have witnessed this first hand. The pressure from companies on their employees to be anti-union is great. One must wonder how much influence that had on the vote.
-
The results of these two elections are just further proof that moving out of Paulding was the right thing to do...good grief people, you just voted in a proven liar and gave yourself a volentary tax....AGAIN.

Yeah. This coming from someone that grew up in Detroit and is now living in Kentucky?
BTW, how is that lady doing that got stomped half to death?
Not by choice, but I figured moving here was better then letting all of you pay for me on the unemployment line.
As for Detroit, I have never witnessed anything like this up there PRIOR to being in office for such a small time election....now, after the fact that is another story.
