  1. I just came from the shelter. I went to see Sugar (cat) and I love her. If she's still there on Friday I'm going to adopt her. I'll be out of town until then and I won't be able to introduce her properly to my cat-daughter (Sassy). Sugar and Sassy are about the same age but Sassy is twice her size! Pray for me because Sassy is very possessive.

  2. I never wanted to go to the gulf coast , either. I had been to the beaches in Ga and SC all my young life. About 15 years ago some friends and I took our kids to Destin for spring break and I was mesmerized by the gorgeous water! It's so green, azure and everything in between! I loved it and if I ever go to the beach again, it will be the gulf coast.

However, I am also a mountain lover. I spent summers in Vermont when we visited my Dad's family. My grandparents had a small cabin on a lake and I have so many great memories of those times with my cousins.

I guess I'm an equal opportunity vacationer...

  3. My passion is teaching. It started in the seventh grade when I was allowed to help second graders in their class. It's where I get my strokes, not to mention the hugs! When I taught high school my kids were the ones who thought they would NEVER pass the math part of the Basic Skills test and when they did pass, Wow! They are my friends for life!

I only work part-time now so I have the best of both worlds, leisure time and my passion.

  4. I just talked with my aunt in NY. She's very near the Vermont line in upstate NY and said that the flooding is west of her. I feel so sorry for the ones caught in it. My cousin and her husband are moving to Wyoming and left Monday to make the trip west. We haven't heard from them yet. I'm saying my prayers!

  5. REV, I've got a huge aloe in a pot that you can have a piece of if you want it. My mom wants to "throw it out" because it's too big so my cousin is going to take it but I'll cut a piece off if you want it.

Lesley, is it an aloe or a yucca that you have blooming? I've never seen an aloe bloom?

  6. Since there are only 7 kids, invite the moms to come. Borrow lounge chairs and set them in the shade for the moms to relax and chat with each other while the teachers watch the kids.

A little extra PR for your program!

  7. We had a beach party one year. Kids bring beach towels and swimsuits.

We had a sprinkler, water balloons, a small pool with play sand that they dug for treasure, relay races and such. The kids had a blast!

  8. My son was telling me something interesting the other day. Don't remember where he heard it. Someone did a study and found that if someone has a crying baby that won't stop, they can drink a glass of wine and blow into the baby's face and the baby will stop crying! Wonder if it really works? Mom or Dad would feel better, I guess.
