  1. So I'm in front of the credit union about 15 mins ago to meet hubby. I see this lil brown bird flopping around and I'm sure it's gonna be smashed so I get out and pick it up. It got out of my hands and flew off a lil ways. Hubby comes out of the CU and says, "What are you doing now?"... so he walks over to get the bird with me, I put it in my SUV and pull the back cover over it. I'm going to take it to Dr. Judy to see if he can fix it. I'm going down the road with my sunroof open, driving along when the damn thing flies up, hits my windshield then latches onto my finger (while I'm driving) scares me to death, then flies right out my sunroof. Maybe I should just stop trying to rescue animals bc it seems they are just gonna die anyway with my help.....

LOL. Sometimes that's just the thanks you get. At least you try.

  2. So, I have a rather simple suggestion...since this guy seems a bit aggressive and has generally creeped a few people out with his odd behavior, why doesn't someone, ANYONE call the company he supposedly works for and report him for the things about his "presentation" that creep you out? IF he works for this company and he's a bad representative, the company needs to know. IF he doesn't work for this company but presents himself as their salesperson, still the company needs to know and SO DO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES.

Warning people on p.com only works for those who read p.com, oh, and who also open and read this thread.

I don't know if anyone got the company name that he supposedly works for. I just happened to hear it on the scanner. I live in Dallas and the man hasn't been in my area. I wonder if that is why he takes back the literature when people say they aren't interested, so they won't know who to call.

All I can say is that he would be taking his life into his own hands by acting aggressive on my front porch.

Thank goodness I don't live near those neighborhoods, or somebody would have to start a donation fund for my bond!!!!!

Mine too. Ask the 2 punks that broke into my garage last night and found themselves on the wrong side of a .38, it is sad they ran before the Police got here.

  3. I don't know if it is the same man or not, but there was a call on the scanner about a man going door to door in Peach Forest Subdivision off Cohran Store Road in Hiram.

  4. If you've never been hooked on meth or crack, you'd never know exactly how stupid you'd act. If a house or building has sat for more that 1-2 months empty, chances are there are no more copper pipes and many cut and missing electrical wires.

$20-$40 doesn't sound like much to us, but if that $20 dollars or so will buy your next fix, you'll do ANYHING for it!!!

The building that our church now moved into had to have new piping and we are still working on the electrical wiring!

I was also told that now when a person comes to most (reputable) recycling locations, you must have proof or written documention of where you got the pipe or wire from.

Well, speaking from experience, the meth heads in the trailers next to our house did a number before we moved in here. They took up residence in vacant trailers and started pulling the copper from the utility wires. It is illegal as heck but they are doing it. The owner of the property tore down most of the vacant ones, but I am sure they are still pulling up wires. I wouldn't even know who to call about that as I am sure they have to be caught in the act. They may even be some of the ones that broke into our garage last night. The owner of this property is all the way in Alpharetta and are clueless about what goes on around here. They are just collecting the rent until they level it next year for a strip mall. I don't know if id is required, but one of the guys asked my husband to take him to the recycling place a few weeks ago. They didn't ask for id. He told my husband how he was getting the copper, so my husband is stayig away from him.

  5. However, it is plausible that homeowners can remain and upgrade all communities with quality upgrades and additions to homes, thusly turning around an entire neighborhood home after home. It is economical and a whole area can grow in value. The KEY is there has to be a desire for that to happen in a community as a whole... otherwise one ends up with a home they fully enjoy with additions and upgrades in a community or neighborhood where they will never recoup their costs. Many people are not willing to take that chance, but I think getting out and talking to neighbors and making a committment to stay and do those things is the only way it will and can happen.

I agree, but I believe that a lot of people are getting into these homes, and are barely able to afford their mortgages, let alone do upgrades. Unfortunately I believe that there are more people that are in that boat.

  6. So many of the subdivisions developed in the nineties and going forward are full of homes that were not built to last. What do you think will happen in fifty years, or even twenty-five years? Will entire subdivisions be abandoned, demolished, or become sub-standard neighborhoods? Is it worth making improvements to these homes, or a waste of time and money because most of the homes in the neighborhood will eventually become rentals and bring down the value of everything around?

That is an excellent question. The house we just moved out of was built in 1985 and it was crumbling all around us. The house we live in now was built in 1955 and has some issues, but not as bad as the other one. I wonder if some of these newer houses will last as long as the mortgages on them.

  7. Yikes, I'm glad no one would get hurt. Hubby just said we have put all our guns in the safe. He is now thinking that we need to bring one up. He does have "mother" in the truck. (that's what he calls one of his guns)

We get kind of like it can't happen to us.

    Did they steal anyting?

I can't tell since it was in the garage. We just moved here last month so a lot of things out there just haven't been brought into the house. I love our house, but unfortunately it is next to some streets with some unsavory characters to say the least. It is an older house and not very secure, but I am putting screws in all of the windows. I just hate feeling victimized. It happened once at our old house, but I caught the guy in the act and chased him down so the police caught him within an hour or 2. We have plenty of guns, and my husband used one last night. I hope that it was enough to keep them away. I am hoping that it's not related to me doing a kind deed for a stranger that showed up at my door last week saying her van had been stolen. Somehow I think that would make it worse.

  8. I hope the late night intruder was just one of your kids, not a stranger.

Nope, it was two strangers that broke into my garage, which is attached to my house. Neighbors and husband heard a truck take off from the main road after my husband had a little "gun play" with one. I am hoping the officers that came out were right and they will be too scared to come back around here.

  9. As part of a job interview this week I will be taking a:

Management Success Profile Assessment (30 minutes)

    then a

Management Aptitude Test Assessment (2 hours)

What kind of questions should I expect from these types of tests? I have a general idea what to expect but I haven't been in the job market for 14 years.

    Thanks :)

It has been a long time since I took one, but you can brush up on your skills at Brainbench.com

  10. Less than 10 minutes. The SO just left my house because someone was in our garage. Hubby woke me up and told me to call after hearing something fall. Our garage is attached to the house, but no door to come directly into the home. There were 2 guys and they got out of here pretty fast. Not sure if this was a random thing or not, but we are near the Kroger on Dallas Acworth Highway.

  11. Sorry, I guess this is a hi-jack. The SO just left my house because someone was in our garage. Not a good way to be woke up. I don't know if this was a random act or not, but I am near Dallas Acworth Highway and Cedarcrest. There were 2 people who ran in two different directions and I hope that they are scrubbing their unmentionables right now after hearing my .357 talk to them. The officers didn't see anyone but their response was less than 10 minutes. They were very nice and figured after being shot at they wouldn't be back.

  12. I guess it could have been the same one. Very scary. I know that I won't stop until I get to a populated area, they can just follow until I'm sure of who it is.

I am with you on that. If that happens I would call 911 and let them know why I am not stopping. The Hummer was dark blue or black by the way.

  13. Not to hijack, but last night we had a Halloween party in BHE. While the kids were outside, an SUV pulled up with a blue light and stopped outside our house. Guy gets out and starts talking to some of the kids in the driveway, 13-15 years old, asking them if they live there and what were they doing. I was on the porch and went to see what was up. He said there was a report of an underage drinking party going on. The wierd thing was that he had a swat patch on the upper right side of his shirt, black cargo pants and a ski mask.

First my thought was why is SWAT going after a party? It dawned on me as I was going back in that it was not a real cop. I called 911 because he had a blue light and was impersonating a cop. It took them 40 minutes to get here and he acted as if it was no big deal.

Then I learned that the fake cop asked one of the boys to get in the car with him. What if I had not been there or he had stopped someone on the road.

Scares me to think he is still loose.

Anyway, any time I have ever called 911 response time is no less than 30 min. We could all be dead by then.

Was it a Hummer by any chance? I heard a call on the scanner last night about a Hummer with lights attempting to pull over vehicles.
