Physics PHD charged with attempting to blow up pentagon
NewsJunky replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
You may not be curious but I am. I have wondered about the women from radical countries who come here just to have their babies and then go home immediately afterward. Why do that? Just to get the benefits of being an American citizen for their children or for even deeper reasons. Yep, I am curious. -
Secretary of State, Brian Kemp has set March 6, 2012 for Georgia Presidential Primary Elections. We will be part of Super Tuesday.

Physics PHD charged with attempting to blow up pentagon
NewsJunky replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I wonder if he was born in the US or if he is a Naturalized citizen. This is an example of what extreme propaganda can do to people. I heard that he was on the net all of time reading the extreme stuff. JMO -
This has created a real firestorm. Seems there was a lot more to the material than first appeared. I was shocked to read it. If the state DOE is putting this out I think they are in some hot water with a lot of parents. According to the Cobb System they are responsible. Two more articles on it: http://blogs.ajc.com/get-schooled-blog/2011/09/27/polygamy-and-school-dress-codes-this-assignment-confuses-me-too/ http://blogs.ajc.com/get-schooled-blog/2011/09/27/cobb-controversy-over-islamizing-of-public-school-curriculum-escalates/

Graves visits commission as county's new congressman
NewsJunky replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Heard him address the Commission today and met him at the meeting on the 17th. I agree with you. A voting record like his is hard to argue against if you plan to oppose him. I liked him! -
Can you say where they were found?
-
That is what I thought you meant.

You know that Cobb County is NOT the only school system in this nation and in some schools anything to do with Christian prayer is forbidden and that is what I was referring to. There is so much being said here in the defense of tolerance about an intolerant religion/government. The school made the right decision and I hope other schools follow their example.
-
Which meanings did you get?

We will never agree on this issue so I will just agree to disagree with you. Pubby and I don't agree on much when it comes to politics and religion so that is nothing new. I respect his right to disagree also. I just hope my granddaughter never has to live under sharia law. I wish for her the freedom to choose what she wears, where she goes, who she speaks to, and what she does for a living. Muslim women do not get to make those choices. From birth they are taken away from them. Course I guess there are still folks who believe women should not have those choices and should not be treat

Had nothing to do with the subject matter and everything to do with promoting a certain religion.
-
So, did you miss the part about this being from the view of someone who was made up and does not exist or the age of the children in the classroom? I think both are very important to the discussion. I would hope that my children would look at other points of view and other religions. I do not want the schools to have a hand in swaying their views in one way or the other and I would want them to be old enough to form a mature opinion . This was poor judgment on the part of the teacher involved. The school made the correct decision.
-
You believe that it was not propaganda even though the letter was from a fictional person and not a real one? It was written to get across a certain view but not written by someone who was real.
-
That is true and that is also why I like the idea of school choice. Parents should be able to place their children in schools where they are not being taught propaganda from the right or the left.
-
I was speaking of the way the teacher in Cobb chose to enter it into the curriculum. I would have to see how it is approached in Paulding to judge whether or not I agreed with the lesson plans.
-
Pubby I have heard some say the same about you. I have always thought you were entitled to your opinion without getting the stupid label.
-
I wondered how long it would take you to jump into this discussion. Right back at you with the same opinion about you. Hope you are not in the classroom with my grandkid. The school made the right decision in this case.
-
Really? I did not know that. I will have to find out just how they approach it. It does not change my view of this matter. It was a contrived way to introduce this religion in a way it should not have entered the curriculum.
-
Nothing is wrong with it. It should be discussed with folks who are old enough to understand it. I really have a problem with slipping that religion into the public schools when Christianity can't enter the door there any longer. Especially when it is put before them in such sunny terms when I know that is far from the truth for women who have to live it. There is separation of church and state it seems unless it is the Muslim religion. At least it appears that one teacher thought so. Yep, I would have done the same thing that Cobb parent did.

If this material were not removed from my child's lesson plans my child would be removed from the school. I can't believe that folks do not have a problem with that propaganda being taught to their children. That religion condones and encourages the abuse of women. Amazing!!! .

A Parent at a middle school in Cobb County complained about an assignment given to his child which puts a positive light on the head to toe covering that women are required to wear. It slams American dress. It also made Sharia law appear to be desirable. Sorry but after reading some of the material in the article I had to agree with the Parent! I would have been very upset if my child had brought this assignment home. Are there other opinions about this here on P.com? http://www.mdjonline...ory_left_column

I think Dr. Barge is onto something with some of his new proposals. He wants to make career path choices for students and if the waiver does not come with Federal strings them I see it as a step in the right direction. http://blogs.ajc.com...t_schooled_blog This CCRPI determination will vary based upon grade levels. However, it will measure the extent to which a school, school district, and the state are successfully making progress on a number of accountability indicators such as content mastery, student attendance, and the next level of preparation. Gov. Nathan Deal said, "The Coll

You really need to find out the facts before posting this stuff. I don't think so. Have you seen Congressman Graves voting record? It is hard to argue with if you are a conservative. Link: http://heritageactionscorecard.com
