  1. If it's on 381, it will be the Dallas Library, next to Sara Babb park.

    Holy cow.

Does it seem as though they are bringing out some pretty huge guns for just a 'stalking' suspect? Not that I disagree, esp. living over here, but I wonder if he's not a little more than they originally said.

Okay thanks, I have no sense of directions.

  2. Does your contract when you bought the cat say "spayed"? If this is the same group I am thinking of...you payed $150 and the rescue group says most of the cost is for the vet and spay. I think I would march my ass down there and get my money back. I have often went and saw the adoptable pets at petsmart, I can't understand why they are so expensive. I decided a long time ago, I would never deal with this rescue group. Somehow it seems like a scam.

  3. Not sure where you are located, but Hiram has a relatively new store called Fret Not, on 92 across from the mini-dirt track by Hiram-Sudie Road. I've done bizz with them a few times, and they specialize in guitars, and offer lessons as well.

I stopped in at Fret Not today and looked around. Nice guys there, prices are good too. Thanks for all the help guys!

  4. Guitar Center and Sam Ash are both in Marietta on Hwy 41.

Guitar Center is just North of Windy Hill Road on Hwy 41.

Sam Ash Music is South of Cumberland Mall on Hwy 41.

    Thanks!

Are you going to have him get lessons? I know a fabulous guitar teacher that is on Dallas Hwy.

You can find fairly decent guitars for cheaper than 600. I'd go to a reputable music store and talk with them. In fact, I'd go to several just to talk, get opinions and general information. If there's one thing about musicians, they love to help people get started and usually have some great advice. :)

Yes I am going to get him some lesson, I open to any recomendations on teachers.

    Thanks

  5. How old is your child? I am asking because my daughter has a starter guitar with amp, strap, and stand that she is getting ready to sell. I think she wants $75.00 for it. If you are interested let me know.

    Thanks.

He is 11. Can you post a picture for me?

  6. I agree. My 17yo son wanted a guitar, so I bought one from Sam's a couple years ago. It came with the guitar, soft case/bag and the amp for about $200. He has gotten really good and so for Christmas last year we went to Guitar Center in downtown Atlanta and bought him a nice Gibson Les Paul that he had been wanting for $900.00( he helped pay for it BTW since I do have a limit on Xmas spending). The one at Sam's is a Fender Starcaster and it served it purpose, not too much money and he was able to find out if it was something he would really be interested in. We went back to GC a few months ago and he bought, with his own money, a nice amp that he had been wanting. BTW when he had his senior pics taken a couple weeks ago, "The Beast", as he calls it, was used as one of his props for the casual pictures.

As far as guitars go, it is definitely HIS preference, but I think it is safe to say that a starter guitar will help him figure out what he likes and dislikes.

I think I need to say that this picture was taken by TCPICS of Acworth, just to be safe since it is professional photo.

    Love the picture!

I agree that one of the Starter Kits are probably the best for a beginner. I've looked at a few at Guitar Center and Sam Ash Music. I wouldn't buy a cheap guitar that is impossible to play or stay in tune. Whether the person has talent or not, it will never develop on an instrument that is too difficult to fret. I would not buy an accoustic for this reason plus it requires more finger strength. A reasonablly good accoustic guitar will cost a lot more money that a good electric.

Where is the Guitar Center and Sam Ash Music? Thanks for the info.

  7. Plus, if he decides in 6 months he doesn't want to play any more you will not be out that much money!!! ;)

I hear that, do I check pawn shops or Walmart? Do you know what a good price to pay is?

  8. They are cheaper, at least for a starter guitar, and they help build finger strength, plus you don't have to buy an amp.

I have the amp, and a very old guitar that is on it's last leg. (it was my husband from 20 years ago). Do some types of acoustic guitars plug into the amp?

  9. If he is just learning, any starter kit (which includes guitar, amp, chords) would be fine. He will need to find his style before you invest in a really good guitar. Different styles of music/musicians prefer different guitars. My husband has 8 guitars. One for each style he is playing. You get different sounds with each guitar, and they all have different feels to them. Some ppl will tell you Fenders are the best, some Gibsons, some Martins. It will all come down to HIS preference. Once he gets good, and learns what his style is, he can go into any music shop, spend the whole day there, talk to some other musicians, and get a feel for the guitars.

I would not purchase an expensive guitar until he is set.

Thanks, I am not up to date on this. I figure by the time I am done I will be able to recite brands in my sleep.

  10. My oldest has decided to take up the guitar......Where would you find an electric guitar? What type is the best to buy? What is a good price to pay for one? I found some on CL, for $600 but I don't think he is ready for one that expensive.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

  11. I'm not sure if this is where this needs to be posted or if anyone has already started a topic but I didn't see one. I would like to see if P.com can help out the family that tragiclly lost the 11 year old. I know someone on here has a pay pal account used for community help and I think we can all pull together and help this family out.

I am in, although it might not be much.

  12. Need someone to tell me how to get glue off of the lens on my eye glasses. The lens fell out and the screw that holds the lens in will not hold. I got the screw back in about half way and filled the screw with super glue. The glue got on my lens and now I can't get it off. I tried eye glass cleaner and alcohol but that does not work. I can't scrape it off without scratching the lens. Does anyone know anything I can use without causing damage to the lens? I think the lens is tinted a little. Thank you.

    GooGone or Goof off.

  13. HA HA! FIRST I'm accused of being Jerry in another thread and now I'm accused of being Paulette.

Too funny! Is that just because I don't agree with your choices in this race?

    Can I just add......

I am not the type of person who jumps in on the political threads, in my opinion you really never get a straight answer. But I will say Quiettype you are making Paulette look really bad. As well the interview with Pubby, Paulette made herself look bad. From her I got the impression that she thinks she is always right and she feels like people were talking bad about her. I really saw her as a school girl, instead of a school board member. JMHO!

  14. She has put ads and campaign materials IN WRITING that say she is an educator. When people started laughing at her about it she changed it to "working for the Board of Education"

Is a bus driver not good enough?

FYI....I don't read in the political forum, I think the school board is just well nevermind.
