Incoming chamber chairman not on board with the airport
WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am not quite sure I agree with you on the statement that the Chamber is simply doing its job. If you are telling me that the chamber members are okay with Firing Mr. Callahan then I really need to talk with some of the Chamber members in which I spend my dollars with, particularly the ones on the Board of Directors. We all know that the Chamber had no business whatsoever getting involved in the airport dispute to the extent of using e-mails and printed matter in support of the Airport Authority IBA and the BOC. It is my understanding that the BOC has given the chamber thousands of dollar -
Myth: The airport will cause traffic congestion issues. Fact: The airport is located directly on U.S. 278, which is a four-lane road that provides direct access to I-20. The stretch of road in the areas around the airport is currently underutilized and has little traffic. Projections right now anticipate an increase of 100 to 200 cars a day from the expansion, which surrounding roads can easily handle. Facts............. The current projection is for over a million passengers per year there is no way that 100 -200 cars per day could handle this load of people. Highway 278 is the only four

getoffmylawn, welcome to P.com If you hang around very long I am quite sure you will find out that it is very difficult to find out what is going on, The flights per day have ranged from two per day to 27 per day Pubby has indicated that we may even become a tourist destination for some projects in Bartow. I see it as becoming a second airport for the City of Atlanta which will bring with it some very negative things to our County such as Marta, Toll roads, crime, corruption, lowered property values, Higher taxes, Traffic congestion etc. I base this conclusion on facts all one needs to do

Incoming chamber chairman not on board with the airport
WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The way pubby is supporting this airport expansion you would think he has some stock un Silver Comet LLC. Two flights a day never sounded practical The reality of this entire endeavor Has to be much more that So Calvin has went from no commercial flights to a million passengers a year, Quite a leap. So...... Now the citizens only need to fight the Board of Commissioner, Chamber of Commerce, Airport Authority, And the Industrial Building Authority. Possibility Marta? Well I believe the citizens still have the edge in this fight, We have the ability to remove them from office the one -

Pubby We started out a couple of flights a day and now according to your figures we are up to 27. 1,000,000 folks a year is a pretty sizeable influx of people into mayberry. Like I have been saying all along I do not want Paulding county to become another Clayton or Fulton County, Nor do I want Dallas to become a City like Atlanta, I moved away from this crappy style of living in 1976 and I have no desire to move again. If the truth ever is told their is no telling what the projection of passengers will be. Been there and done that do not want to go through that again. -

Tundra..... Nice Green really needs to take a trip to Fulton and Clayton counties to see for himself what a airport brings to a County It is not very pretty. -

I personally think the other board members will have a problem if the chamber is supporting a plan of a million passengers per year. After all they do depend on providing services and products to the citizens of Paulding County. I hope all the board members do not support Mr. Balfour. Why would a citizen want to buy or use goods or services from a board member who supports a million passenger per year airport No wonder the chamber board of directors are supporting the airport, Heck 75% of them will not be affected by the higher taxes crime etc How in the world did the Paulding County Cham -

Me too -
Since it appears that you have information that has not been made available to others can you e-mail me a copy or post them here for all to see, I have done a ton of searching and cannot see where the contract that you allege was made in the November meeting was ever discussed publicly? Was it??? If so when if you maintain it was not discussed on 10/24/2012/

BB If you are speaking of me can you point out something that I opposed in the past five years that the county has done? The airport deal is sneaky and the citizens are not going to set back and let this BOC spend Millions on legal fees cramming something down our throats
-
MYTH: The Paulding Chamber is looking out for the Paulding citizens. FACT: There are 30 people on the Chamber Board Of Directors, 23 of them do not live in Paulding county and can not VOTE here. That is over 75%. Why do they think they know what is best for Paulding County??? Chairman Austin is livid about delta And the city of Atlanta involving them selves in the Airport issue But is okay with 23 Board of directors of the local chamber lending their names to two full page ads. WOW WOW something is wrong with this picture

County's cozy relationship with Silver Comet Partners exposed
WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I for one think that the deal will be a disaster for the County, It can only lead to millions and millions of dollars in attorney fees that only the citizens will be required to pay. Rumors are flying about who may run in 2016 for the chairman's Job Problem is those names being tossed around are also caught up in the airport fiasco. I have yet to hear David say that he was not going to run, If he said that to me then I do not recall it, I seriously doubt that he can win another election. He barely won the last one. LPPT Calvin and many more serving on the airport board have lost a ton of c -

He needs to have some Town Hall type meetings and not meet with just a select few. This involves the entire county. I have a contract that appears to be something different than some others that I have seen, are their more than one contract? -

LPPT I dare say the government is the largest single employer in most counties The schools, fire protection tax collectors sheriffs etc. covers a lot of folks. I have a suggestion why don't we get the BOC to quit spending the tax dollars on movie theatres, airport junkets, unnecessary law suits trim the BOC staff down, Lock out P.Com from all county computers and take those dollars and give the deputies a raise, Provide heath care coverage for the deputies and their kids, we owe it to our county workers to pay them a living wage with health care benefits that will cover them in times of sickne -

WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Heck lets have a vote, Next week, The people elected Commissioners to do what is best for the County and what did we get first....... A movie theatre which is costing tens of thousands of dollars a year whoopee The same commissioners who supported the theatre are the same ones who flew up and down the east coast and bought into the Silver Comet deal whoopee. What is next..... MARTA??? -

LPPT I am going to make this response short and Sweet I have lived through what I am posting about, I am going through some of the same things your dad is going through. I am not against growth,I am and will always be against this airport, I love Dallas and Paulding County and do not want to see it turn into a Riverdale, HAPEVILLE OR COLLEGE PARK or Atlanta I have lived through that and do not want to go through it again, Take the tour go to these small cities that surround this massive complex, See what it is like, Look at the taxes they pay compared to ours, Heck check out the crime rate and -

I will be more than willing to have the airport authority IBA And the Board of Commissioners to host a series of town hall meetings on this issue. And then have a County wide referendum Allow both sides to erect signs and abide by the decision that a majority of the citizens make. Heck let the Board members of the Chamber get out and actively campaign on the issues, Let all of the business that support a commercial airport let it be known to all of their customers by some kind of air plane decal that states I support the silver Comet partnership. How does that sound????? Us regular common ave -

WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Surepip I agree I saw what they did to you and your family. The big difference here is their are some deep pocketed people fighting this case. I actually believe their is a desire that the county win the first round just so the case can be drug out and cost the county more than what they are actually asking for in the bond, Or to force Silver Comet partners LLC to foot the bill for the improvements. Millions and millions will have to be spent before the first commercial flight ever leaves Silver Comet field. I do not believe the citizens will tolerate spending millions on a airport they do -
County's cozy relationship with Silver Comet Partners exposed
WHITEY replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I really have some serious questions about what the Airport Authority has done on the notifications of meetings and the agenda items During the Bond hearing on 12/2/2013 the County attorneys objected on several occasions to the cross examination of Blake Swafford when he was questioned about the off site and other meetings. The best of my knowledge Judge Beavers upheld the objections of the county attorneys in some of the instances. In any event I do not think Judge Beavers will rule on anything but the Bond. Either way the ruling goes I am quite sure the other party will appeal to a highe -
