He's only looking at the fact that Washington supported slavery by owning slaves and it's for those reasons he feels Washington should be removed from the park. For those who did not know; Delaware and Maryland were slave states during the Civil War. Maryland ended slavery in 1864, but it passed by only 1,000 votes. Delaware on the other hand did not abolish slavery. Slavery in that state was in effect until the 13th amendment was ratified. I wonder how many statutes exist of government officials from those two states who supported slavery to the bitter end?
