You're welcome. I have been at the new Interroll building many times over the last few weeks and forwarded many local resumes over to the company. I know that they have hired several local folks already including one in a key management position. The production positions are where I would expect many of the local hires to occur. In regards to the film studio that is the responsibility of the industrial building authority. Paulding County Economic Development has very little involvement with the project other than to promote it when productions happen or when called upon by Roadtown Enterprises

I forgot about Mark Twain. Good call. I would have to bump Edgar Alan Poe or Morrison/Cobain for him since the chances would be greater for a sober and more interesting conversation. LOL

I'd have to go with Thomas Jefferson, George Orwell, Ronald Reagan, William Donald Schaefer (former Baltimore Mayor and Maryland Governor), Edgar Alan Poe and either Jim Morrison or Kurt Cobain.

MGi has shifted more responsibility to the local U.S. executives here in Paulding and those folks are working hard on getting new contracts. They have some very good local Paulding residents involved in making business decisions for the company and the hope is they will see strong growth 2014. -
Chairman Austin says jobs is why he is for the airport

MGI got NO INCENTIVES from the County or State as the project they had didn't materialize into the growth they expected. IF they had gotten incentives and didn't create the jobs projected any tax abatement would have been terminated especially with layoffs. All incentive agreements with companies are performance based (they must create the jobs agreed to) and have clawbacks which result in penalties or termination of them for failing to perform. MGI realized the project was not going to pan out as expected before any incentive agreement was signed; therefore, there was NO TAX ABATEMENT OR ANY -
That is not true. Interroll's Regional Center of Excellence is approximately 93,000 square feet of which 83,000 square feet is production area for a variety of conveyor systems. There is approximately 5,000 square feet of showroom area and 5,000 square feet of offices. The facility was designed to bring in customers from across North America so that they can see how the conveyors are manufactured and then watch them in an operating environment (showroom). The building also includes an already graded site adjacent to the manufacturing space for an additional 18,000 square feet of production are

Very true. We just need to get the discussion going. More people speaking out like Mike could get is started. -
Mike Rowe Explains Our Job and Education Crisis

Exactly. Not every kid is destined for a four year college nor do they necessarily need to go. Two year technical college degrees often have more worth than four year ones especially if we are talking about liberal arts degrees. That is what this video points out. If you want to find yourself unemployed and in debt get a four year degree in a major that has very few jobs and is useless to those professions which require some sort of skill. Soft skills are also a major problem. -

Most of the solutions don't even focus on K-12 if you watch the entire video.By the way my wife has taught special education for 20 years and believes Mike is spot on. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzKzu86Agg0#t=1160" The most important factor in the success of any business is the quality of its employees. There is a severe shortage of qualified skilled labor across America and I've seen first hand how challenging it is for manufacturers in Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia to find employees with both hard and soft skills, as well as a strong work ethic. Parents and schools have played a significant role in discouraging young people from entering trade and manufacturing sectors that not only provide well paying jobs but job security. The constant pus

Quite honestly I see little to no impact for Paulding County from this project. Hotels aren't going to be built several miles into Paulding when they can go to locations along I-75 both north and south of Lakepoint. Additionally, if hotels move off the Interstate they will go into developed commercial corridors such as the Highway 41 area in Acworth where there are nearby restaurants to compliment them. Finally, the fact the project is so self contained with movie theaters, restaurants and other retail could essentially kill any similar type of development in the Cedarcrest and Dabbs Bridge Ro

Tundra, I enjoyed meeting you for the first time yesterday. As I mentioned to you yesterday and recently here on PCOM I'm refraining from any airport discussions here; however, the issue raised at the 2:00 meeting concerns Interroll and economic development. Mrs. VanZant's points about the chamber of commerce's open letter in regards to Interroll were accurate. It is important to note that Paulding County Economic Development (PCED) did not provide any of the information in the letter and we were not asked to review it. A few weeks ago I gave an Interroll update to the commissioners a

I'm done with any more postings related to this topic Honest debate and differences is one thing but that is not what I see taking place.
-
The airport authority meetings and propeller agreement were done in public. All commissioner votes on the matter such as bonds were done in public. Not speaking about a matter is not making a decision in secret especially when you are not the deciding party.

I know what you're saying but the truth is the need never goes away. Look at North Fulton, Gwinnett and Cobb Counties with all the new industry they attract and expansions that are announced. The competition for those projects from other counties and states just gets ratcheted up on a larger scale. The battle in those counties takes on a whole new level and they have to fight to retain those companies other areas are only happy to pillage.

Whitey-Apology accepted. No worries. The difference between Delta and Atlanta opposing the airport expansion and those of us that support it but don't live in Paulding is that the supporters either have been "hired" to do what they believe is best for Paulding's future or they are doing what they believe is best for Paulding's future and have a vested business interest in It because they own or manage a business here. Think of the business owners or managers that operate companies here and serve on various boards. In many cases their financial contribution to Paulding via taxes, jobs created

Yes. That is why we are a public/private partnership. Your question was whether I am a Paulding County employee which I am not.
-
I didn't delete it. I moved it to the green section with the other comments. We are funded by county, Dallas, Hiram and businesses. I am not a county employee.

King and Spalding represent Delta and they are harassing FAA, GRETA, GDOT and Paulding County http://www.kslaw.com...?us_nsc_id=1113 That is common knowledge. The lawyers representing the two residents are former King and Spalding attorneys. Quite a coincidence huh. http://www.ntmlaw.com/mcknight.html http://www.ntmlaw.com/toman.html
