  1. It was stated on the scanner as that many from a s/o that went to the house before the shooting happened. If there was anything wrong at that time, the officer would of broke it up. Instead, he left and was surprised when the second call came in. There were many calls for many different parties for loud music.

I hope this boy gets better. On the scanner it stated one was shot in the arm, then one was shot in the side as well as this boy which they stated was shot in the chest. Was it only this boy that got shot or was there 2 others also?

My son and others said there was not 100 to 150 people at that party, it was about that many when people started showing up after they heard about the shooting. Anyway it doesnt matter, if there were 10 or 1,000. To try and blame this mother for inviting too many people is absolutely insane. There was only one individual that was shot, so I guess information on the scanner can be wrong?

  2. Any word on how he's doing this afternoon? My son graduated from HHS in 07 & played basketball with him. He is such a nice kid. Not surprising he came to someone else's defense either. My son and his friends just heard about this and are all concerned. Any updates would be appreciated.

    thanks!

My husband spoke with his father earlier and everthing is about the same, he's still in ICU and resting. I will keep you updated as I learn more.

If you have a "celebration" with 100-150 people there will be trouble. Seems like the host would know this.

I spoke with my son a few minutes ago inquiring about the high number of attendees. He said it was not that many people at the party, once word got out about the shooting, via texting of course. Tons of people start showing up, it was not actually that many at the party before the shooting happened. He also said that the party had only been underway for about an hour before these boys showed up and the shooting occured.

There were others that showed up and were not invited and they were asked to leave and they left without any problems. But this group, obviously was offended. I think word gets out that there is a party and people just start showing up, it happens all the time. The mother cant be blamed for it.

  4. That is just so horrible! I hope they try him as an Adult because the crime he committed is one that should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I'm really glad to hear that this young man will recover. I'm sorry to hear your son was one of the kids there that witnessed it. I'm sure he is full of emotions right now.

I pray for a speedy recovery for this young man who was shot as well as the other students that were there and witnessed it. I'm sure they are all still in shock that something like this could happen.

It's really sad. I my X-SIL went to school at McEachern years ago and it was a really great school as were the students. It is just a shame that it has gone down hill and now thugs are carrying guns there. Like I said, I hope he is punished to the fullest extent of the law and as an adult. When they make adult decisions to shoot someone, they should be tried as an adult. JMHO

Yes, it has really taken its toll on him. He has been in bed all day. I have tried to talk to him about it, but he doesnt want to talk, just wants to sleep. This is suppose to be joyous time for them and they are having to deal with this. This is what they will remember the most about their graduation. And it has to be 100 times harder for the victim and his family. I had my pictures developed from the graduation and there are several pictures of the victim, my son and some other friends, smiling and ready to take on the world, they had no idea what was in store for them. It breaks my heart.

  5. Glad to hear this young man in going to be OK..........sounds like the person that moved here from McEachern High school come with a Thug mentality and carries it with him. I can't for the life of me understand why Kids act this way. And as posted earlier...find him and the source will be found and they all need to be CHARGED the same.

    Prayers for a speedy recovery!

It's sad that he was a fellow graduate, graduated alongside the victim and others earlier in the day and he brought them to this party, I don't know if there is a big rilvary between Hiram and McEachern but they obviously came to start trouble, bringing a gun along. Im so happy that this young man will be okay and that there were not more victims.

  6. I'm glad you posted how the young man is doing. I pray for a speedy recoverery.

I heard all this on the scanner and they said at one time they were around 100 people there. I hope they catch the ones involved that were not invited , and through the book at them.

Yeah, there were a lot of people there and my son was one of them. He was pretty shook up over this. His first experience with gun violence. I had wanted to have a graduation party for him last night, but I was too afraid something like this would happen and I decided not to have it. Its ashame that a few can ruin things for everybody.

  7. A group of Mcheachern (sp) students arrived at a graduation party last night for Hiram High graduates and were asked to leave by the mom of the student throwing the party, because they were not invited and she didnt want any trouble. They were upset and started arguing with the mother, a graduate arrived and saw what was going on and came to the defense of the mother and was then shot in the abdomen by one of the boys in the group. He was airlifted to Grady and surgery was performed to remove the bullet and to repair his liver that was damaged. He is now in ICU and is expected to be okay. Its sad that these students couldnt celebrate their milestone in peace, without some hoodlums coming to start trouble. As of this morning the group of boys had not been caught, and its sad that a fellow graduate of these students brought this group to the party, this was his first year at Hiram and he came from Mcheachern. He needs to be charged as well, even if he didnt know that they brought a gun. He ran with them after the shooting. Please keep Joel in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

  8. I agree, everywhere I went even starting on Thursday was jam packed. And we went to a baseball tournament this weekend and it was packed, concession stands was busy the ice cream truck came by and he had a good day. So things seem to be looking up or everyone is just faking it.

  9. The driver who was arrested finally is likely going to do some serious time behind bars, as she should. I will reserve judgment on the repair shop until more facts are known. The car could have been taken out of town where news of this crime was unknown. Further, not everyone pays a lot of attention to the local news. I'll also reserve judgment on the mother and grandmother until we hear more about what they knew, when they knew it, and what their actions were during the time the driver was in hiding. I believe they knew something but I have to assume they are innocent until proven guilty. I'm curious to know how the car repairs were paid for and by whom. That will tell a lot. I doubt the insurance company was involved and suspect that cash was used. If so, where did that cash come from?

The mechanics were working on the car in the garage, thats how it was spotted. Someone saw them working on the car and called the Police. Im sure all mechanic shops were notified to be on the look out for a damanged, light colored 740 BMW.

  10. I don't know how somone could sleep at night knowing they contributed to a accident that killed 5 people. The mother and grandmother should be held responsible, as well as the mechanics who fixed the damage on the car. The fact that they were going to go on with their lives as if nothing ever happened is, is just unimaginable. If someone hadnt spotted the car being repaired in the garage, thats exactly what they were going to do. Accidents happen and people arent always careful when they are driving, but to just drive away and disappear, how can you do that. I also read that either the mother or grandmother is a principal at a elementary school in Roswell, she needs to resign.

  11. I have an unspoken prayer request for our youngest son..........can't go into any details but we know that God is in control and that our son will DEFINATELY come out on TOP of this.............thanks everyone for all your prayers and friendship.........

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your son with what ever it is he is going through. The battle is not yours, its the Lords. May God bless you.

  12. I stupidly volunteered to make limousine arrangments for my son and his 19 yes 19 other friends. What on earth was I thinking? This has been a nightmare, sleepless nights and stress beyond belief. Between cheap parents that want limousine services for nothing, and kids dropping out and shady limousine services, this has been a nightmare. I will be so glad when Saturday gets here. I will never, ever, ever do this again.

  13. A lot depends on what your goals are. If you are walking to improve your overall fitness and health and enjoy it, you should keep doing it. You can change up your routine by changing your route - you can make it more challenging by walking where there are more hills or do some hiking.

Be careful about what you add to your routine - you don't want to kill all of your progress by taking on too much, too soon - or starting a type of workout that you do not truly enjoy (i.e. - I love to cycle - hate to run and running will kill the joy of the workout for me.)

As suggested in the previous post - you can walk with weights, or up your pace - maybe even get a heart rate monitor to be able to tell what your heart rate is and keep it up for specific periods of time.

My goal is to really just get in shape and get more toned. I started walking after I realized how out of shape I was. I would be out of breath just walking from my car into the grocery store, so I said something has to change. Im not too concerned about loosing weight. Maybe 10 pounds but I figured that would come off with the walking.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

First off, make sure that you're healthy enough to kick it up a notch. I don't know how old you are, or what your physical condition is.

Assuming you can safely handle it.....start moving into some power walking or running to get your heart rate up. Get it up and keep it up there for periods of time.

Add light weights to your routine. Get some cheap dumbbells and work your arms and upper body while walking. Also consider lifting weights seperate of your walking/running. Building lean muscle will make you stronger and burn calories 24 hours a day. No need to do heavy weights, just light to moderate weight and lots of reps.

Finally, diet. Cut back on carbs (cut back, not out), eat lots of protein and fiber. Whole grain beads/cereals and fruits. Smaller portions several times a day.

    Good luck, stick with it.

I am healthy enough to kick it up, I am 40, and just found it hard to walk around without giving out of breath, always tired so I figured I better start excercising, and it has made a big differnce already in how I feel.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am going to add dumbells today.

  14. I have been walking for about 6 weeks for 4 to 5 days a week for about an hour each day. I have seen great results, I have dropped a dress size . I havent seen that much difference on the scales but I can tell that I am looking more toned. I just want to know at what point do I need to start mixing up my routine? Do I need to add maybe 15 more minutes to my walking sessions or maybe try something else. I know eventually I will reach a plateau. Just wanted to get a head start on it. Any advice would be really appreciated.

  15. Just curious what do ya'll consider tipping good? I usually always tip atleast 20% but was wondering if that is just

    average or good?

My service yesterday was $36.00, I tipped $8.00. Don't know if that was enough, but it was all I had on me at the time.

  16. I really love the place doing my nails now and could care less what they say as long as they do a good job. Sadly I have not found an English speaking one that does as good of a job.

The place I went today the girl that did my pedicure did a good job, I was really impressed. I went to the one in the new publix shopping center on ridge road and 61. The next time I go I am going to take my ipod and listen to my music, I started to take it today, but I thought that would be rude.

  17. That's what I was wondering.

They can talk about me all they want to....they're the ones with my feet in their hands. :bad:

Yall are right about that, I never looked at it like that.

  18. I have not been to the nail salon in over a year because I just hate going because I always get the sneaky suspension that the nail techs are always talking about people. But my feet were looking so horrible that I broke down and went, because I have some new sandals I want to wear. I also got talked into getting a eyebrow waxing which looks horrible. The nail techs would say something to each other, they look at you and then they start laughing. I just hate I cant understand what they are saying. Then another customer came in and they did the same thing to her but I did make out something about her boobs. She was well endowed, so I assume they were saying something about that. My pedicure looks good, but the eyebrow waxing looks horrible. I guess it will be another year before I go back. I am not going to pay someone to talk about me right in my face.

  19. It was so sad to see the last images of her skipping down the street with not a care in the world. Its sad that children cant be children anymore. Im sure she and her parents felt safe for her to walk in her neighborhood alone, but with all the nuts out there we all have to be extra careful. My prayers are with her family tonight and forever, they will need it. May this little angel rest in peace. And may the monster that did this to her live in hell the rest of their tormented life.

  20. Heavenly Hash, although its very hard to find them. It's been years since I've had one. They have a marshmallowy creme covered in chocolate with almonds inside. I love those things. If anyone has seen them, please let me know where.

  21. My prayers are with you as you go through the difficult process of grieving for your father. It want be easy, I lost my father 9 months ago and the first few months are just a daze for me, don't remember much. After the shock wears off is when you start feeling it. The last couple of months have been so hard for me. Just trying to accept the reality that he is gone. I dream of him often and it comforts me some, but then I ache so bad because I really want to see him. But I wouldnt want him back suffering the way he did the last three weeks of his life, he had prostate cancer and it was hard seeing just a frame of my dad. PM me if you ever want to just talk. It has helped me to just keep a daily journal of my feelings. Im so sorry for the other issues that you and your family are going through. I will pray that everyone is healed. Lean on God and he will see you through it all.

  22. I did Jenny Craig several years ago. I did loose weight on it, but as soon as I stopped eating their food I gained the weight right back. And it was very expensive, I think I was spending about 100.00 a week on food. I eventually learned that I had to change my eating habits and to excercise and that is what has worked for me. I wished I had figured it out earlier, could have saved my self 1,000's of dollars.

  23. Our snowbirds are out so we might go for a few days. We are closer to the state park than where all the spring nreakers hang out. We avoid that areas...

Were thinking about going. What areas should we avoid? We have never been. But my boys want to go. They are 18 and 13. So we're still debating.
