  1. This is how my hubby keeps ants out of feeders, take a top from a can of spray paint, poke a hole in the center of can. When you look at the top it has a inter wall and outer wall the hole is in the very center, run the holder wire or chain for feeded so the cap is above the feeder ,now all you do is fill the mote [outer ring] with soapy water. The ants can not cross to get to feeder. Ihis is easy , cheap , a good way to to use something that we just throw away. Another thing it when it rains this little trick still works.
  2. The board members are elected, they in turn pick the super. When I first got on the board the super was elected. I sure was glad when it was changed. When the super was elected anyone could run even if the had no background in education or business. I hate to say this but running our school system is running a very large business. The board members are able to pick the super from the people who apply for the job. We always worked had to try and pick the best person for the job. The super worked for the board and made recommendations to the board. There were a couple of times when I did not vot
  3. I do not post much because I was tired of being trashed every time it did. But, here goes. I was elected for 3 terms on the BOE and in those 12 years I only missed 3 meetings. I have never been arrested, have been married for 40 years to the same Great Guy, raised 2 wonderful sons, and have twin grandsons. With all of that I am sure there are people who post on this site that would try and dig up dirt on me. Yes, I voted for tax increases while on the BOE. But there were time I voted no. The tax increases were because with the growing county system there was a need for more money. My family
  4. I was on the Paulding BOE with Paulette and I for one can tell you that she is not one of the "good old boys". She always voted her own voice while she was on the board. She did not vote for anything she did not believe in. I think a debate would be a good idea, but I think it should be just the same as most held in this county were the questions are given ahead of time. Just a thought.
  5. Glock was there before the homes were built an it is an industrial park. People should check out an area before they move to that area. I still have a problem with the Drag Strip closing down because people moved in and did not like the noise. The drag strip was there way before the homes (1950?) but some just call that progress.
  6. If you read the item on accessnorthga.com it does say that the state lawmakers will have the last say. I agree we also need to let the Board of Regents know that we do not feel this is right.
  7. If you were ever in 4-H or had a child in this great program it need our help NOW. There is a proposal before state lawmakers for doing away with the 4-H programs in Ga. and to close all 5 of the 4-H facilities across the state. What a shame that once again the children of our state must pay for the bad choices that our state govt. had made over the years. I know how much my sons got out of this wonderful program and how much it had impacted the lives of so many students. Just ask around if you do not know of all the things this program does because I feel sure someone you know has enjoyed
  8. My son just called and said that they have lost power. He lives of Homer Cochran Rd. does anyone know what is going on?
  9. I am sure Annette is now with Peggy Brown and they are both watching over their loved ones. Annette was a great lady she will be missed by many. V Lacey
  10. Sorry to hear of Keith's passing, knew him from a young child to an adult. I always thought it nice that his daughter was named after my family. He will be missed. '
  11. 7 years ago I had to shoot a pit bull that attacked a cat at a friend's barn. I was working my horse and heard yelling, Sandy was hitting the dog with a mop and the pit had the cat by the neck killing it. I came around the barn and saw what was going on and took my pistol out of the truck. When the pit finished killing the cat he came after Sandy, she ran behind the fence where I was and the bog came after both of us. I shot it 2 times it then crawled back home. We called animal control and SO and when the "Barry Fief " SO showed up it was unreal. First he was going to arrest me for firing a
  12. As someone who works with cattle alot let me tell you they are not afraid of a fence. Anyone who thinks or wants to try and hold back a 2500 lb. pissed off bull with a plastic fence has alot of balls or is nuts. I have seen a bull go thru a solid 6 rail fence when we were trying to load him in a trailer, and all he wanted to do was get back to his ladies. Any one who has seen what a deer can do to a car mult. that by 10 and that is a bull. I just hope that the bull was taken to a local processer so the meat can be used. Many of the homeless shelters take wild game and this would even be bett
  13. If livestock is a hazard they do not have a choice. Cattle are really stupid, a bull can weight as much as a small car and having something like that running around , out in front of cars, or even coming after people is not safe. The person who owns the bull will be held responsible for any damage.
  14. Did you call the police or animal control? Anytime an animal is in a car when temp is over 75 even with windows down some the owner needs to know it is not alright.
