I don't think so for this reason - the flecks of glitter are not uniform. They are randomly shaped and sized. Some are about the size of the head of a small nail. Other pieces are the size of the very point of the nail - like I said, dust sized. They're clean and supershiny like a mirror. There's no smell on the tux and no transfer of lotions or makeup (no smudges). The particles aren't being tranferred directly, as there's no concentration of them. It's as if they were all airborne. That wouldn't seem to come from lotions, powders or scents.

These seem odd-shaped, like confetti, but way smaller and they don't seem to have a uniform size. They are reflective-shiny, like a disco-ball (a dated reference, I know) They adhere to the shoe tops and the tux pants and jackets. The Cleaners get the glitter dust out of the tuxes, but the glitter is difficult to remove from the shoes. Back to the health hazard, though. I'm thinking that since the small pieces get on the shoes and because they are so tiny that they could easily be inhaled into the lungs without notice. As I prepare to send prom tuxes to the cleaners and triple-clean the shoes for subsequent rentals, I'm seeing a lot of glitter on the tuxes and on the shoes. Not confetti, but smaller, dust-sized particles that are typically a shiny green. I'm thinking that this is something that the dress shops are selling to high school girls to spray on their prom dresses. Since it gets transferred to the boys clothing and because it is so small, it seems to be something that is easily airborne and could be breathed into the lungs. At least this year they're not all having it on the same weekend! The last couple of years several of them had it on the same weekend.
