  1. Keeping Faith- Jodi Piccoult

having a hard time getting through- hitting close to home... thinking time to get something lighter and come back to this one.

I watched a Lifetime movie a week or so ago called The Tenth Circle. It was based on a book by Jodi Picoult. Very good!! I'd like to read some of her stuff.

I just finished Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark. Excellent!! It usually takes me a month or so to finish a book. I finished this one in two days!!! I'm now reading Family Tree by Barbara Delinsky. So far it's excellent!!!

  2. I'm probably going to be bashed on this note but.....What about the girls in these situations (consensual)? I'm a mother of three daughters and I have to say why are the girls not held, in some regard, to account for what has taken place? Because they're 1-12 mo from being 16? That's insane, they committed the same violation of the law. Best example, that kid that was convicted and later released in Atlanta. The girl was videotaped for goodness sake...the boy did break a law but, why such a harsh penalty? She obviously was a willing participant.

How is it a girls parents can ruin a boy's life because of something THEY did together and think the girl did no wrong.....HELLO, your daughter was just as involved. And what about women who do the same, like those teachers in the news. Do you think they were held to the same standards in court as men? I don't. The media would have made this male teacher out to be some sort of predatory monster and the female was just a woman going through a lot of stress, pressure, a bad marriage, etc....

I don't know anymore, all I can do is provide my girls with the best education, in this area, as I can and hope that they listen and understand.

I agree with you 100%. I have two daughters. One is 25 and the other just turned 23. I was a teenaged girl once. I know what they do and I know how they are about boys. Teenagers should not be having sex, but they do. Teenagers having consensual sex is NOT rape!! A boy that both my daughters know is on the registry for having sex with his 15 year old girlfriend. They got caught in the act, and the girl cried "rape" so her daddy wouldn't be mad. life. These kids had been having sex since middle school. Not right but not rape. And she just moved on and continued to have sex with a number of other older boys. She went right on with her life while this boy has to remain on the registry.

They definitely need to rethink the laws. I know there's an age of consent but, no matter what their ages, girls are just as curious about sex as boys. And a lot of them are just as eager to try it. I agree that if the sex involves teenagers and there is going to be charges brought, the girl should not get off scot free.

  3. Two days before we left for vacation in May, my camera just up and disappeared. I have torn the house apart and cannot find it. I bought it just a couple of months before in Ft. Lauderdale when my old one died. I got such a good deal on it, and it was a great camera. I thought I put it with the video camera and the binoculars and a couple of other things I didn't want to forget. Well---it disappeared. We have looked everywhere in the house and cannot find it. No one was home but me and my husband. I still cannot believe that it just vanished.

I keep praying and looking. Surely it will turn up, but hasn't in 2 months.

  4. No late bills yet, but hubby is in the home improvement business and it's been tighter this summer than most. I have cut back on groceries, but gas is killing us. I drive to Marietta and back every day, and hubby drives wherever the jobs are. I drive a SUV and have no desire to have a small car, so I guess I'll just have to cut out other stuff. I don't drive anywhere unless I absolutely have to.

  5. This happened right at the driveway of a friend's MIL's house. I had just gone by about 5 minutes before if happened on my way to Douglasville, and my husband passed by about 5 minutes after that on his way home. When I came home at about 7:00, the GSP and the red truck was still there.

When I got home, I told my husband to call Tony to find out why all the GSP were at his MIL's driveway. Hubby told me it had been a motorcycle accident.

I said a prayer for the driver. I'm glad to know that it wasn't more serious than it was.

I'll keep your dad in my prayers.

  6. I didn't watch last night, but I taped it. I just finished watching!!! I'm glad she picked Jesse!! I admit that I wasn't that crazy about him at first, but he was the most real of all the guys on there. You liked him for what he was. He didn't pretend or try to be different than he was. I really liked Jason, too, but I think a ready-made family was a little too much for her.

I don't think her daddy's happy, but she's grown and she's the one who's got to live with him. Her SIL seemed really pleased. She felt that Jesse was more DeAnna's type than Jason. I watched After the Final Rose, and I thought they were just precious together. DeAnna didn't seem fake to me. She just seemed happy.

I guess we'll all see on 05/09/09 since that's the date they set for their wedding.

  7. MRSA does NOT only come from hospital enviornment as once believed.

No, but it is very common in hospital settings. I do Workers' Comp claims for some of the Georgia Hospitals. I have seen quite a few of these claims. Sometimes it is very hard to treat.

I'm sorry your son has to go through this. I know it is not a pleasant experience.

  8. I admit it!! I love this show! DeAnna has definitely been my favorite batchlorette. I'm really torn with this one. If I had to choose between Jeremy, Jason, and Jesse,I don't know how I'd do it. She's got the toughest decision that any one of them has ever had to make. I'm thinking that she will pick Jesse. I'm not so sure that she wants a ready-made family that she'll get with Jason. She's a luck girl, because she's gonna get a good one no matter who she picks..

  9. It's the best thing ever invented, other than the epidural!! I've been on it for several years and absolutely love it! No periods, no worrying about forgetting to take my pill, etc. A little weight gain but not enough to make me not get my shot. Also, I can always tell when I should be getting a period because I get a little bluesy.

The few side effects are well worth it!!

  10. No, but I got a phone call from someone named Tommie Graham. He said he was running for something or other. I don't remember because I was so stunned that someone running for office would actually call on the phone. He asked if I had any questions. I told him "no" and hung up.

  11. I watched the news report on Channel 6 and 10. Both were pretty much the same. They did give the boy's name and showed the house. At this point, it seems that they do not know the cause of death. I'm in agreement that we should not speculate as to what happened. It will all come out when the investigation is complete.

Once again, prayers said for the family.
