  1. When we have people to call Helping Hands and ask if we take clothing donations, we ask them to donate to one of the stores, that we are partnered with. We refer clients The Thrift Store, The Been and Classy Thrift. We really do appreciate you being able to accept clothing vouchers for those in our community, that are less fortunate and we are seeing sooo many people now-a-days.

Last week on Tuesday, we had a record number of people in one day, 43 people. There were about 6 or 7 new people, just on that day alone. It's been averaging about 25-30 new people a month.

I do NOT shop at The Goodwill stores, to me, they are overpriced and I'm the kind of person who like to "keep it local", you know, support the hometown, small businesses and the likes. I have even shopped at The Thrift Store.

  2. Prayers for the Family and Susan will be missed. I only saw and/or worked with her a few times at Helping Hands but, she was a joy to be around. She lit up the room with her Beautiful Smile. She was always so kind to everyone she met. No more pain and suffering, God Rest Her Soul!!

  3. I now have a phone number for the wife. I plan on calling her, just not sure what to say. I'll tell her about your suggestions about seeking help at churches (which didn't help me when I was in need) and Helping Hands (which did).

I don't have a lot of money to spare, which is why I donated to the jar. But I figured I could offer to help with any house work or errands, if they have children and she grows to trust me (and my kids), maybe I can help her with that while she's taking care of the medical needs for her husband.

I don't know, I can't explain. She touched my heart in such a way that I think of her every single day.

From what I've been told, Most all of the Churches are now, referring all of their callers to go to Helping Hands because the churches give everything they collect (food and money) to helping hands. St Vincent DePaul still helps with funds and some food but, the majority of the churches in Paulding don't help, anymore. The needs of this county is growing and the churches just can't keep up.

  4. They should come to Helping Hands. Please pass this info on to this family. I will try to look for them in the future. We pass by there every Tuesday & Wednesday

Did anyone see the pregnant young lady in Hiram, behind one of those shopping strips that are up front, in front of Kohls and Target area, last Wednesday afternoon??? Her sign said something like pregnant with 2 or 3 children, need to feed them, so on and so on????? I gave her Helping Hands name and number. I wasn't sure if she spoke good english or not but, I told her to go to Helping Hands for free food. I just hope she went.

  5. Good for you. We had this happen years ago and we had company at the time. But, they did go to another home or two and left. The young lady tred to give us a bottle of Dawn and asked if they could do a demo of carpet cleaning. Hubby told them that we were NOT interested and they went on their merry way.

Then a few years ago, we had a young lady to come to the door asking if they, her and her hispanic partner, could clean up our flower beds and put down new pine straw. I was kind of skeptical so, I took some pics of them both and then I went around the back of their van (old faded navy blue in color) and got a pic of their vans tag, Just in case anything happened.

If we are out in the back yard, I always make sure the front door is locked with the deadbolt. I trust NO ONE, when it comes to someone coming to our door. We are very private and never let anyone (other than family & friends) in our home unless it's an absolute necessity. I'm just that kind of girl, you might say. Always try to be on the safe side!!!!

  6. In the meantime, tell her to go to Helping Hands for food. She can look online @ WWW.helpinghandspauldingga.org

    And look for "eligibility requirements"

If she doesn't have everything on the first

Visit , she will still get food. She will have to bring the missing documents on her next visit.

  7. Prayers for all involved.

If you go down Hwy 61 from Ridge Rd, come to the end, at the RR tracks, go right, keep going til you go thru a way stop, and the next intersection (not the s/d) will be Harlan Lane Rd on the right, and Lake Paradise Rd is on the left. I think it's Chevron station on the right, just past Harlan Lane Road.

It happened "NEAR" Harlan Lane Rd, not "AT" Harlan Lane Rd. I just wanted to clarify that bit of info!!!
