  1. Police were called last year when dogs tails were docked. I understand that docking the tails is not animal cruelty and seems as if the permanent residents around that area don't get involved in things like this........Seems as if things down in Greensboro Georgia are a little different than here........Yes, I'm looking for a foster home while I advertise, contact vets, etc and screen permanent homes....

Edited to say dogs tails were docked on the picnic table with a meat cleaver

I will not give up on him and I'm not looking for someone to take care of my problem. I intend to pay for his shots, neutering and feeding.....I just don't have space at my home for him.....

  2. I have a URGENT situation......I have already PM'd JBrigman, but thought I'd try everyone else who is involved with rescuing or the shelter - I have acquired via confrontation with drunk idiot an 11 month old purebred doberman/purebred lab mix, intact male with current rabies only.....Sweet and loving to me, my son, my mom - submissive to point of peeing if hubby or dad move very fast. Loves tennis balls......Currently at my home, but my husband is only so tolerant of me. Drunk idiot beat him with garden hose or chain if dog barked and woke him. Dog was in 8 X 8 pen with brick bottom and igloo, "girlfriend" who thanked me for taking the dog and I told her she needed to be the next rescue, said dog was fed and watered by her daily.......They'd never given him a name - just "Dog"......this is hubbys account but I am monitoring it for now....please help if you can!!

  3. Oh, Meltid.....Oh, my......You are so right in your assessment. What are people thinking? And then we catch total h@%% when we plead with people not to breed, not to buy from breeders, spay and neuter everything and go to the shelters.........My hubby is out of town, my kiddo is in bed and my big ole baby is pawing at my hand as I type while lying beside me on the sofa....oops....I'm accidentally my husband....be right back!!

  4. I'm sure I'll catch heat from the following:

    From the Cherokee Ledger:

Zoning applications on Canton West, a 3,507-home project planned for Canton and northwestern Cherokee County, are on track for consideration by spring, said the project’s developer.

PEC Development Group is seeking approval for the mixed-use development on 2,342 acres located between Canton by the Laurel Canyon community off Ga. 140 and Lake Arrowhead on Ga. 108. The project plan calls for annexation of 988 acres into the city and for most of the homes – including single- and multi-family housing – to be built in Canton, documents show. PEC Development is working with the Cherokee County School District and Superintendent Dr. Frank Petruzielo on a planned donation of a site on the property for a new elementary school and officials are in talks about a multi-school complex on adjoining land owned by the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority, Corley said.

Corley said the parkway is expected to cost about $30 million. It would be developed as a public-private project with funding from PEC Development and the Lake Arrowhead developers matched with funding from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Corley is hopeful the state funding would be approved for the state’s Fiscal Year 2008 budget, which begins July 1 of this year, he said.

  5. If indeed there is nothing the BOC can do about all the rezoning requests, wouldn't we be just as well served by installing bobble head dolls to the Board?

That's just what I was thinking! Why have zonings at all if anyone can rezone how they want. That would save us a lot of money... Other counties must have lots of lawsuits because I hear about requests being turned down all the time. Maybe it's just my imagination. :(

  6. I voted no for a number of reasons. One was the complete lack of a plan - "just hand us some money so we can fix things." Yeah, right! The other was a post by a BOE member that said we really needed more schools than the bond would pay for. So, why did they only ask for $125M if we really needed more? I'm guessing the number was pulled out of a hat.

In addition to the information desired from above posts, I want to see a chart showing number of classrooms needed vs number of available classrooms for the next 10 years. They should be able to show how the SPLOST funds and an additional bond cause the lines to converge over time. If not, there is something terribly wrong...

  7. If the facts are so "well guarded" why are they doing the meeting tomorrow night? Believe me the way news spreads on this sight everyone will know what was said by about 9:30 pm tomorrow night.

My point is that no matter how "good" the turnout tomorrow is, less than .1% of paulding residents will be represented. And no, it's not everyone's fault they won't be there - most of the population has no idea this meeting is even happening. Plus, having information posted here second hand is never productive when you can provide the details directly. That's what I call guarded.

  8. I hope you folks show up tomorrow night and get answers from the people who know the facts. They don't visit this sight because of sooooo much negativity, rumors, gossip, and so forth, hence Town Hall Meeting to get out the facts.

A town hall meeting can only possibly have a fraction of a percentage of voters whereas providing an document with a plan and an FAQ would be far better to "get out the facts". They don't have to visit this site to provide a web site with information.

What I have seen here are people looking for real answers and so far they just don't exist. Makes one wonder why the facts are so well guarded.

  9. Have Vonage......LOVE it......Use it for fax, business line and home line. Our TIVO works fine dialing out also. We've had it for about 20 months. Even if we were to experience minor problems - we're saving ALOT of money. With the business, fax and home lines through BellSouth plus long distance, we were paying around $250 per month.....Now paying $75 for both...If we have an echo from time to time (which we haven't), so be it.........

  10. Am I the only one who finds the title of this thread funny?

Nope. It is funny but also the name of the 20/20 program that was on tonight. Sure did bring up some questions about why unions and legislatures and other school officials refuse to try anything to improve our school systems other than spending more money on the same failing plans...

  11. mine starts kindergarten this year, I am so scared, we have tossed private school around so much, but I think we are going to go with public, I am a product of private and you do get more 1 on 1 but you miss out on the real world!!!!!!!!!

So, what is the "real world?" My wife and I both went to good public schools but wouldn't trade the private school our son is attending for any public school. The true love of the kids AND parents is unsurpassed.

  12. I forgot to add how simple Tivo is to use. It's a no-brainer! About a year ago I was trying to figure out why it was recording a number of children's programs and then my then 6-year old came into the room and said he made it do that. He said, "If I press the thumb's up button on things I like, it gets more of them." At that time I had only shown him how to pick a program from those it had recorded and watch them.

Now he sets up season passes (record all episodes) on programs he likes and marks special episodes to not delete until he wants to do it. All of this with no help.

You will hear these types of stories from all Tivo users... Go get one!

  13. storylady,

We could not live without Tivo. No more scheduling our lives around TV!

We have a Tivo series I recorder hooked to our DirecTv receiver. Not quite as simple as the new DirecTivo boxes which have two receivers and Tivo combined so two programs can be recorded at once - and you could watch another pre-recorded show too. If you go with DirecTivo, you get the Tivo service (which is required on top of any Sat. or cable provider service) from DirecTv for like $5/month extra. Setup and hookup of DirecTivo is a snap.

For a standalone Tivo box with cable, you pay $12.95/month additional to Tivo for their service. This setup takes a bit more time to integrate with your cable or sat. receiver and to download the setup stuff (program listing, etc.). Once it is going, it just works.

Our box is the 30hr and I don't know if it has ever been full. If you like to record lots of stuff you might find more space needed.

If your VCR is hooked up between your Tivo and TV, you can record anything Tivo can play. In fact, it has a means to auto-control your VCR for just that but I haven't done it.

    Hope this helps.

  14. Chairman,

I'm glad you made it out on DBR to see the "deep" patching and shoulder widening progress. The westbound lane from 61 for about 1/2 mile was not patched at all despite crumbling areas - so it appears that patching was not completed. And I used the term "deep" because many of the "deep" patches are already crumbling as well. If they had, in fact, been deep, this would not have occurred already. Some of the "tar and rock" paching has already been required on these new patches... In other metro areas deep patching is immediately followed by overlay to protect those new joints. It sure would have been nice on our vehicles to postpone this patching until overlay money was found. Or at least only deep patch those very bad sections.

I also thought it was interesting to widen the eastbound lane from 61 to pumpkinvine creek bridge and then the westbound lane from the bridge back to Lead Mtn road. In my experience, the section that could use the most shoulder widening is from the bridge to the county line. Is there a reason not to widen that section and to do only the small section westbound?
