  1. Do you know if the Wallace family from Powder Springs still have stake in this restaurant? Their daughter was a friend of mine in high school and, with facebook, and all of the planning for a class reunion, I've been thinking of her and wondering what she's doing....

  2. We were there over spring break and stayed at the Hampton at I95 south gateway at Al Henderson Blvd (exit 94).....about 15 minutes from Savannah proper.....there were a ton of hotels at that exit from low to high end....I bet if you tell any of the hotels what you are there for, they'll give you a discount....There was plenty to eat at that exit.....We're heading back to Tybee in a month and can't wait.....LOVE the area

  3. One window unit cools the whole house? How many square feet and what is the BTU rating on the window unit?

no, they have 3, which my dad has installed and removed each year.....1 for each bedroom and one that does the kitchen/LR/dining room.....I don't know the square footage....it is a small, sweet little house. They've never had any complaints. My nieces and nephews have used it for their first home as they married and saved to buy. My parents keep their rental property in tip top shape....My dad was taken care of a refrigerator issue in his Dallas house while in the hospital (until I found out). He'd purchased a new refrig and the tenant said it wasn't cooling properly - (she didn't know how to adjust the temp). Most of their tenants have been in the homes for YEARS. I think my parents do too much, but, hey, it's their retirement income and I just stay out of it.....

  4. I'm listing this for my parents who are exceptional landlords. One of their rental homes has become available and, due to my dad having open heart surgery last week, they haven't been able to actively pursue new tenants.

Sweet older home on Old Lost Mountain Road with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, dining room and living room. Back porch goes across entire house. LARGE yard. Central heat, window unit air - no one has ever complained. No utilities included. My parents keep everything up to date and in new working order. $700 deposit, $700 per month. Clean and ready to move in. Call between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. please. 678-231-1247

    Serious inquiries only.

  5. I am FOR the death penalty.......I have no problem with it in Ledfords case (and many others).....There should not be a blanket penalty, it should be on a case by case basis. In saying this, I have a cousin in prison for murder - life without parole. The state deemed this person indigent and the state pays for the lawyer. I have attended many of the hearings and I absolutely cannot believe how broken our court systems are. First, our tax dollars pay for the transport from the prison to the local jail, extra security personal on the trip and at the local jail (where the hearings are held), all of the court personal pay, the gas/time/paperwork for the state prosecutors to travel to all of these places, the DA's time/travel, etc., etc, etc. These hearings are bogus in my opinion. Just take the habeus for example - couldn't be consecutive days. A 1/2 day in this courtroom, a full day in this one - sometimes weeks apart - stretched out for over 1 year. This, after arriving to a full courtroom where most people are being assigned free lawyers and their cases postponed or dropped because the state failed to supply them with a lawyer within the legal time limit. I urge everyone to take a day and go sit in a courtroom and listen - it's a different world. We, who don't break the law and/or go to court live in a fantasy world re: how our legal system works and how it was meant to work. This cousin of mine isn't being punished - I know, I have visited Metro and spoken face to face - there is no suffering. I'd be going crazy being locked in a cell every night alone, but, this person will tell you that the only thing they miss is going places all the time - this person calls all of their friends/families every day, sends birthday/Christmas cards/letters, watches tv, works out (in better physical shape than ever), attends classes (why - this person should not leave prison), tutors other inmates, reads, receives mail, very, very little physical work. There is no doubt that my cousin is guilty and there are no extenuating circumstances, abuse, etc......Just plain and simple evil......

  6. :shok: Gee We Didn't Know That They Gave Refunds????

LOL.......I was just wondering.....I'm trying to have an open mind about the bailouts, the nw home purchase incentive of, I believe $8000, the "tax credit" that was effective April 1, etc. and see what people plan to do with the influx of money. I'm happy for those who have refunds, but, I'm happier for those that either broke even or only had to pay a small amount because that means you were able to do what you wanted with that money throughout the year.......Since we're a small business, we pay quarterly and a refund is something we haven't seen in 13 years!!!!

  7. www.mynaturephotos.com/groundhog.htm

maybe a groundhog??? They're mating this time of year, so they're very active and social creatures.......I laugh at them because when they stand up on their hind legs, they look like they're on the side of the road with a cigarette and a beer!

Or, you have spotted one of our illustrious political officials checking in on their district....... ;)

  8. COBB GALLERIA - Women For Hire is coming into town this week for two women-only career expos.

Tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the national organization will sponsor a career expo at the Cobb Galleria Center.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with more than 50 employers and have their resumes critiqued. There will also be 30-minute seminars on such topics as how to handle the stress of looking for a job, strategies for career transition, what makes a great resume and self-publishing.

All attendees must be dressed in business attire and bring copies of their resumes. Unisys Corp., McKesson and Bank of America are among the companies who will have representatives at the event.

For $20, attendees can also attend an early-morning seminar with Women for Hire founder Tory Johnson. That event, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., requires preregistration online at www.womenforhire.com. The session will offer fresh tips and facts on how to navigate the complex world of job hunting.

Johnson said the career fairs are more than just an opportunity to meet with potential employers.

"For many people, they feel like fish out of water at career fairs," she said. "The greater purpose these days at career fairs are the free seminars where people can pick up new information and inspiration. They can also have their resumes critiqued, which in invaluable."

Networking is also crucial, she said.

"You get to talk to so many other people and connect," she said. "You find out what's working and what's not. You're not going to find your next job by looking online. It requires a lot of networking and exploration."

On April 4, Women for Hire will sponsor a Work From Home expo, also at the Galleria from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Johnson said that event would offer ideas and tips for women looking for a supplemental income or wanting to work from home.

"This is a really terrific opportunity to find out how to make money from home, because it is more popular now than ever before," she said.

The event will feature eight seminars, including how to run a virtual-assistant business, self-publishing, direct sales and virtual customer service. Dress is business casual. Resumes are not necessary.

Johnson, a contributor to Good Morning America, said she expects large crowds at both events.

She was in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago when the Georgia Department of Labor sponsored a large career fair at the Georgia World Congress Center.

"One of the positives, or I guess you can call it the silver lining, is there is a great sense of optimism," she said. "The people coming to these events are pretty optimistic. They feel good to get out of the house and actually get into business attire."

  9. Did you vet test for worms?? worms will give bad gas........have you tried easing the doggie over to another brand of food? Too fast of a switch will cause gas, but slowly would be ok......Sometimes, even if the dog has been on the food for a while, the company may have changed the source of the protein and that can cause gas....what food are you using?
