By law, an education SPLOST can be used only for certain capital projects that support local schools. SPLOST funds can pay for school construction, technology, and new school buses, but cannot be used for the day-to- day operational expenses of a school system, including salaries and to offset budget cuts. http://www.sgrlaw.com/resources/briefings/bond_practice/446/ This reviews the law regarding the ESPLOST. It cannot be used on text books, only on capital building improvements.

House Bill 91 - Dropping the GHSGT requirement to get your diploma
bookreader replied to bookreader's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The actual application was only posted yesterday - it was approved March 30, but the county had to get the process together for those applicants. While the bill passed March 30, the actual online application was only posted yesterday. The county had posted that the application was coming - I just wanted to put the process out there now that it is in place. -
I am not looking for debate or discussion - the bill has passed and the process has been set by the county. I know there are several on here with family members and/or friends impacted by this. Students who did not receive a regular education diploma due to not passing the GHSGT in ANY subject, can now petition to get their diploma.....see the link below. This goes back for ALL years the GHSGT was in place - as well as the Basic Skills Test which was in place before that. http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/News/22404#sthash.qxztzNA4.dpbs

We had the exact same thing happen here - three TV's at one time - never would have thought it was a cable issue with the sound - but they hit a signal reset and it fixed them all.

When it comes to local information, why not just ask?
bookreader replied to HawkeyeAngel's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Thank you Kim. I truly do appreciate your openess with the citizens of Paulding County. -
So Kim, While it is appreciated you are coming on here, can I ask how accurate your information is? Please see below the RFP for outsourcing and the second PDF contains MANY custodial items for sale - so if this is just a proposal, why is the district selling off custodial equipment? As an employee in PCSD, I am concerned regarding this proposal. I am also a Paulding citizen and tax payer and I understand and appreciate the need to be fiscally responsible. However, it is unclear how outsourcing will truly beneift our district. The schools require MUCH upkeep and many duties are performed

The writing test is taken in October of their junior year. They will have a total of five opportunities to pass it before graduation time rolls around. Fall, Spring, Summer of Junior year and Fall, Spring of their senior year.

They fed them at Hiram High School. The cafeteria folks got to work and started serving lunches at 10:30 AM in order to give all the kids the opportunity to eat before they left. Thank goodness they did, some of the kids were on the buses for hours before they got home. !

We have the Chromecast and have been using it for over a month. We love it. Great to access NEtflix, Youtube, etc. We use our phone as the remote and it is simple to use. Daughter now wants one for the TV in her room.

Love this show. Have last nights on DVR and can't wait to watch. One of the best shows on TV.

I saw it on Perez Hilton as well. I don't think this is one of those hoaxes. Makes me sad, such a horrible way to die. -
Nevermind....you are not worth it

On April 1st, the Chick-fil-A in Dallas is holding a fundraiser for little Tripp. I will post closer to time as well as a reminder, but I love that Chik-fil-A's all around GA have done this for this family. Such a great community aspect of their business.
