  1. OK, but why are you against it. What action would you propose to get these guns out of the general populations hands? Mental health is definitely a portion of the problem. Why give these people access to these type of guns. The laws/rules currently in place are clearly not working.
  2. This thread was started because I wanted to discuss the possibility of a ban of "assault type" guns and to get peoples feelings.
  3. The definition is set on in the link mrs. Howard posted.
  4. No one said they wanted a ban on all guns. The Holder video focused mainly on how get get kids not to think it was cool to have a gun and to change the gun culture. The Feinstein one supported a ban on assault rifles. Is there a question that the right wants assault guns banned?
  5. I did notice that there is a section where a back program buy is addressed. Then tell me. Rush doesn't count.
  6. Introduced on the 27th. A start but heavens know when it will become law. Do we have that time? I sure hope so.
  7. Gun ownership is a constituation right and I for one, defend that right. No doubt. I also believe in age restriction on these guns. I am not hearing any reasonable argument for allowing these guns to be available to the general public through. Your distrust of the government is justified to a certain degree but I'm not sure that distrust warrants the mass murders of late. The government is the only entity that can take on this task. If you can think of another let's get that out in the forefront. I have never heard anyone say that they want to take your guns away.
  8. So mental health is the "real" issue here? How about bringing forth the "real" issue which is allowing the general public access to these guns? What purpose do they serve the general public?
  9. I don't care if he was able to have a gun or not. Standing up and shooting a gun in a classroom is a sign that perhaps this individual should not be in a classroom. When people show you who they are maybe we should believe them.
  10. This man is very clearly either a fool or, at least unstable. Does he belong in a classroom with a gun?
  11. Of course it's a right/left thing. But unless you are saying that the CEO of Dicks is a liberal and is choosing this route as some kind of political grandstanding, I don't see how this situation is spin by the left.
  12. Stonewall, I did find where Dicks stopped selling these guns after Sandy hook. But it was lifted. The left had nothing to do with it, then or now. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2018/02/28/dicks-sporting-goods-pulled-assault-style-rifles-after-sandy-hook-too-didnt-last/381385002/
  13. Typical leftist spin? The CEO of Dicks makes an announcement and the left spins the information? Not the way it went down at all. Can you post a link that confirms what you posted in post #45?
  14. I never said that criminals and nut cases will willingly turn over their guns to the government. What I referenced was a buy back program on assault type guns. Disarming law abiding citizens is not a factor in this argument, because, again, no one wants to take away your right to bear arms. It doesn't matter how many times you post that the left wants to take away your guns either because that is simply not the case. Why can't you understand this? What the left wants is common sense restriction on assault type rifles. Until such time that there are clear definitions and guidelines on ass
  15. A buy back program of assault type guns would be a viable real solution. As would not making these guns available to the general public.
  16. Maybe you should refine your ability to have a conversation without name calling or insults. Who knows, it might lead to something productive.
  17. Using semantics as an argument on this issue is pretty much like hearding cats. You can be assured that the definition of "assault type" guns will be crystal clear once the outcry, which by the way, is from the right and the left, overpowers the senseless sales of these type of weapons to the general public. There is still a lot of work to be done on this issue. But again, no one want to take away your guns.
  18. So.....which ones of the 17 young people were murdered by a assault type rifle?
  19. I am getting the impression that the NRA is losing ground quickly and that speech like the representative from the NRA is only encouraging discord and using politics as a springboard for gun propaganda and untruths. Let's not forget that these gun manufacturers are private entities and not governmental entities. We have all watched the militarization of our countries police communities, I do not believe schools should follow suit.
  20. If a semi-automatic rifle can do the same as a assault type gun what is all the outcry about? I often hear that many, many people that support and feel strongly about their second amendment rights say that they would support the concept of banning these assault type rifles.
  21. I agree that Dicks has the right to run their business as they choose. Not sure that cakes and assault type guns is a good comparison. I mean this very literally, the only references I hear as to banning guns come from attention whores on the right. They keep repeating and repeating that the right wants to take away their guns. This is not true.
  22. The corporate arm of Dicks Sporting Goods has made a decision to stop selling assault type guns. The latest victims have a voice and they are using it. My personal opinion is that these guns should not be available to the general public. I'm reading that the right is saying that the left wants to ban all guns and I have to ask......where and why did you get this impression? I literally know of no one that wants to ban all guns.
  23. This is what I want to know. Where have all the moderate conservatives gone?
  24. I guess old navy has a place in the tween market but I've always thought of them as poorly made, disposable goods.
