has anyone been to the area to see if the cross had just gotten tossed in the woods or washed away?

Jerry - think right of way....

could have been removed by DOT. I remember a few years ago a woman spoke in front of the BoC - she was mad that the DOT did not enforce the policy of removing such items from the roadside. From memory, she had a death in the family and the crosses on the roadside made her sad - she wanted the BoC to make the DOT remove all such signs.....

RG, you have more problem than you think - just imagine when she brings home a guy like me and says "maw, me and freebird love each other and want to get hitched...." (and she is 16)

have you considered the number of "deaths, disabilities, paralysis, blindness etc. etc. etc." that occur from driving in a vehicle?
-
RG - yes you are a whack-job, hippie!

Slumber, I see where you are coming from. I guess my initial take was that the article was trying to let the guy off easy - that it was an accident.

I think calling it results of reckless behavior would have more of an inpact on a kid. Kind of like the "scared straight" film. Here are the direct consequences of your actions.... In this case death. And that is no accident.

This one brought back some memories for me. When Freebird, Jr. was around 8 months old he was burned in the tub by water that was too hot in the water heater. I didn't pay attention to the "new parent" information provided to me and failed to take the proper precautions for my son. The fact that Marietta fire department showed up with 6 men on an engine and rescue and an additional two men arrived on the EMS transport unit made an impression on me that got me into radio scanning. This injury was poor judgment of the friend. http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/toddler-bu...tub-1507
