  1. And how many of those officers did you try to flag down? If I pass someone walking I always look as I pass or check the rear view to see if they make an attempt. Walking is not illegal and many people use it as a means of transportation. Since it is not illegal and unless there are circumstances the officer has no right to stop you. I can guarantee if they do someone would be on here complaining about being harassed for just walking.

I cant imagine that anyone would say they were harrassed for walking if an officer stopped to help someone who might look like they could use it...

It seems not many of you read the last part of that post where I mentioned the cop that helped me out immensely and how grateful I was to him for it....

and hell, he knocked on my door while it was hanging open and everything....

  2. Probable cause is lacking, for sure, SR!

Even if he was wondering, which I doubt, no drug dealer is going to be so stupid as to sell narcotics in from of a restaurant's video camera.

I dont think what a drug dealer would or wouldnt do is relevant at all, WT....the police arent parents and theyre not bosses. The peopl have rights and noone, officer or not has any place just demanding orders out of anybody.

  3. I have cited on here numerous times supreme court decisions stating that police officers have no duty to protect individual persons.

No, I have no preconceived notions and no I was not “profiling” you. Just asking the question based on my experience in similar situations.

I understand what you're saying, I think the response to your question might have got me a little riled (not my response)....I dont like being profiled as a bad citizen, just like I imagine you dont like being profiled as a "bad" cop....

as for the "Wondering in search of narcotics" thing,

isnt that right up there with thought crimes?

  4. Since when did it become law enforcements job “check” on someone walking down the road. It is not a crime to be walking down the road. Obviously the officers did not sense any suspicious activity on your part so they let you be.

You gripe about the officers who did their jobs by informing you of your infraction and sending you on your way, yet you gripe when they leave two honest law abiding citizens walking down the road alone.

It is not law enforcements job to come to the rescue of citizens who happen to find themselves in an inconvenient situation. Could one have stopped and had a chat with you, sure, is he required to, no he is not. Sorry you were inconvenienced by officers not bailing you out of a situation that your “friend” put you in. Maybe next time you will have a backup plan and or your own cell phone.

Let me ask you this, if an officer had stopped and offered you a ride and told you that you would need to empty your pockets prior to entering the patrol car per departmental policy that all persons transported in a department vehicle be searched prior to entering said vehicle, would you still have accepted the ride?

I'm sorry, but yes. The police have a responsibilty to insure the well being of citizens and YES. I would have been more than happy to empty my pockets to get some help.

Are you attempting to profile me by indicating that I might have had something illegal in my posession?

What makes you even question that?

Sounds like you might have a predetermined idea of what someone might have on them at any given time.

Of course, you only notice the first part of the post and not the second one where an officer helped out immensely.

Its sad that people think its okay for officers to just sit around trying to find someone doing something wrong rather than actually trying community outreach for the community that you proclaim to be so concerned about.

And no, I dont think that any officer is "required" to do anything, you gruesomely mis-interpreted my post, but out of all the officers that passed right by us in both directions, I would have thought that at least one would have offered some sort of assistance.

Thats part of the job too.

<raising hand excitingly> I know the answer. Pick me, pick me. The answer is no.

What makes you say that? You obviously have a predetermined idea of what I seem to be up to based on a few opinions I've expressed. Do those opinions make me some sort of criminal?

Youre response shows more about your true self than I think you realize.

  5. The other day, my roomate and I were nearly arrested for "tresspassing" on property that was part of the paulding forest just weeks ago, with no signs indicating it had been bought out or anything. (It was bought by a land developer) The other guy with us ditched us on the spot and we walked nearly 30 miles home in the hot ass sun down 278; while we watched countless officers pass us up without so much of a "Hey, you guys alright"? We were pretty muddy after an afternoon of hiking and were dehydrated without water, which was in the afformentioned "friends" car.

I stopped counting at 18. These 2 douchers that nearly arrested us were trying to scare us as much as they could and they sure were quick to jump on the oppurtunity to harass people who were enjoying a beautiful day out in nature, but out of 18 cruisers ranging from PC sherriffs, to dallas, to hiram and GSP, not ONE seemed concerned enough about the safety of 2 citizens who were walking nearly 30 miles to stop and perhaps let us use a cell phone to call my roomates GF, give us a ride to somewhere where we COULD call someone, or anything else that would have been greatly appreciated by 2 taxpaying, voting citizens.

I guess we should have just been thankful to not be threatened or demeaned by any other officers on our trek home, and the acceptance of that very philosophy is the reason why people tend to have such a mistrust for the police in general.

I dont know the circumstances of this video and niether does anyone else here, but this beating went above and beyong any neccesary force to subdue a POSSIBLE suspect and there is no excuse for it, because the bottom line is that when you sign up to police the streets, you are held to a higher standard than the rest of the population. If you dont like it, dont be a cop.

On the other hand, a couple of weeks ago, my dog got out of the fence and one of Hiram's own officers saw her on 278, someone pointed to him which house she came from and he helped me catch her so I could take her back home. I didnt catch this officers' name, but he was a younger fellow with dark hair, clean shaven and if any of Hiram PD is reading this and recognizes this, please give this fine gentleman a pat on the back because he was polite, understanding, and helpful and things like that go a long way with a society who is already edgy due to a crappy political climate and social insecurity.

I wish more of the police were like this man and not so much like the 2 assholes mentioned at the start of my post, because I honestly think that it would change the world if it was that way.

  6. i found myself sitting here in the docs office waitiing on my roomate to come out and figured "i wonder what pcom is up to" ......... hopefully well :) its been pretty interesting and fast for me lately to say the least....watched my roomate get arrested for giving her maiden name (shes going through a divorce) which had to be one of the most ridiculous things i had ever witnessed in my life.....i got 2 really cool roomates...one is a guy abbout my age..ive been teaching him how to paint and hes teaching me how to weld....the other is a woman who is definately awesome to have around and does our laundry and cooks for us sometimes...if she left the house would look like a crime scene lol ........ recently had a few tattoos i did featured in a national magazine (ill refrain from mentioning which one in courtesy of the commerce members on the site but it releases in jan) so im pretty excited about that.....got an art show on the 31st of jan.....the crappy part is when i go to bed ..... luckily i have a dog who cuddles up with me on the couch........things could definately be better and they will.......but im sure there are others out therw who didnt accomplish such things this month...at this point im just glad that im doing enough quality work to have appts and whatnot....you know what they say about karma........

    and happy new years :)

  7. I will agree with your last statement. I actually think pot should be legalized if alcohol is to remain legal.

Some may turn to crime. That is why I am here....

I have a secret that is fixin to blow your mind, they already commit crimes

This is America, dude. We're all criminals here.

  8. I'm curious as to how many REAL drug addicts (not pot. real drugs.) people really think there are out there and what percentage of them make up the people seeking assistance. I'm not going to say I've never bought a detox drink or anything like that, but I can assure you, I wasnt smoking crack. I wonder what kind of people you think youre surrounded by. That being said, adding more government influence to a problem wont fix it. It will make it worse. You know it and I know it. Without assistance, some may turn to crime. Some people who have assistance might even work too! I know thats an odd concept as some seem to believe that everyone who is on assistance is just out to cheat their tax dollars out, but I just cant agree with a single, hardworking mom being denied assistance that she needs just because she might smoke a joint when she gets home....
