  1. ATLANTA - Two Democratic lawmakers are pushing legislation that would make buying a firearm much more expensive. The bill would nearly double sales taxes on guns, and more than quadruple the tax rates on ammunition. The bill is sponsored by William Pascrell, D-N.J., and Danny Davis, D-Ill., who say their legislation takes aim on gun violence starting at the pocketbook. The bill is called the Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities act. It calls for taxes on weapons to be raised well above what they are currently. Under the proposed legislation, the tax rate on firearms purc
  2. I'm beginning to think they are listening to people talk, hearing the news and think it's cool. So, they are going to try it and see what happens and have the mentality, "Nothing is going to happen to me", but reality sets in when they get caught. I too, wonder where their parents are in checking their belongings and why these firearms aren't locked up.
  3. Awe the little clique on here are banning my threads, what a shame! GROW UP!
  4. SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Fulton County Schools say a middle school student brought a loaded gun to campus on Monday. The school system told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik an 8th-grade boy had the gun on the Ridegview Middle Charter School campus. Another student found out about the gun and told a teacher, who alerted the principal, Fulton County Schools said. The gun was found and confiscated and the student will face charges. Fulton County Schools said it does not know why the student brought the weapon to school. Principal Lisa Hastey sent the following letter home to parent
  5. ABC News’ Robyn Weil reports: At first glance, Jesse and Kelly Cottle, of San Diego, Calif., look like any cute couple in love. But take a closer look at this photo of Kelly giving husband Jesse, a marine and double-amputee, a piggyback ride, and it’s clear to see why the picture has gone wildly viral. Jesse, 28, lost both of his legs in Afghanistan in 2009 after stepping on an IED, which was all caught on video by a fellow marine wearing a helmet camera. The footage was even used in a documentary about Jesse called “Coming Home.” “If I hadn’t stepped on that IED I wouldn’t
  6. My son/daughter nor I would be around a person who would be drunk like that in the first place. We would have been home, having dinner and/or doing homework at that time. Depending what time this occurred. I looked at the time I posted that post and it was posted at 9:15 pm. So, 12 yo is 6th grade, so my daughter would have been in 4th, so she would have been in bed, and my son, would have been getting into bed and been there for 15 minutes. We are dependable parents Momof3...We know how to protect our kids!
  7. FOX 5 Atlanta A Kansas man agreed to let his 12-year-old son be the designated driver for one of his drunk buddies. The drunk friend was hungry and needed a ride for a fast food run... Needless to say, the story doesn't end well. We'll have the complete report at 10pm on FOX 5 Atlanta! What do you think should happen to the father?
  8. Boy Dana, you sure are getting cocky...Been around these parts to long. I knew the sweetness wasn't going to last to long, if you hung out here. They won't allow it. EDIT: And I just saw your comments above. I just don't have anything to add just yet.
  9. I started to teach my son to drive in Middle school with me in the car thou. First in the subdivision going towards the house and into the driveway. Then in the parking lot when business where closed or in the parking lot of a park when people weren't there. Then when he was in 10th, down the road with me to get more familiar and then we went to get his learners. After we got his learners, I found out it was against the law to do that way. I won't do it that way with my daughter.
  10. There has been plenty of times, I opened a men's bathroom door and asked my son if he was okay. I even asked a few men to check on him when I felt he was taking to long.
  11. After the unusually warm and snowless winter of 2011–2012, many people questioned if winter could make a comeback. Well it did. Last winter was cold and especially snowy. So, what’s in store for this winter? The “Days of Shivery” are back!
For 2013–2014, we are forecasting a winter that will experience below average temperatures for about two-thirds of the nation. A large area of below-normal temperatures will predominate from roughly east of the Continental Divide to the Appalachians, north and east through New England. Coldest temperatures will be over the Northern Plains on east into t
  12. The closest relative we humans have in the huge population of invertebrates that blanket the earth is a tiny, inconspicuous flower-like marine critter that is amazing in its abilities to regenerate its damaged tissue from its blood vessels alone. Scientists believe this odd character, just one of many spineless animals known as "sea squirts," or "tunicates," may hold the genetic secrets that might eventually allow humans to regrow a lost arm, or accept a heart from someone else without danger of rejection. But, alas, if this unpretentious little animal is going to be our medical salvatio
  13. MACON, Ga. — A central Georgia sheriff is seeking state assistance as he investigates claims that a Georgia legislator choked a teenager during a public event. The Macon Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1dAgCoO ) reported that Bibb County Sheriff David Davis asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for help with allegations concerning state Sen. David Lucas of Macon. Davis said Friday he had "the utmost confidence in the unbiased skills of the Bibb Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division," but an outside agency should be involved given the political nature of the incident. 15. I don't have a contract, and how is he doing that? You can't make that statement and not tell us how he does that. I have basic, but I don't want HBO. Wait, no I don't, I have demand.
  16. Well, it depends what mood they are in, sometimes they will help me there, but most of the time they tell me to call. And we have been a customer since the 80's. I just don't get it. They treat the newer customers better than the dedicated customers. Which they should treat all customers the same. One price....per package....no this price this month, or this year.
  17. I don't have an answer for everything, but maybe the kids go to daycare or they bring their lunch to school and she use those individual servings for them and splits it up or she brings them to work herself.
  18. Wow, that wasn't a very nice thing to say. You don't know her situation at all.
  19. I'm upset with Comcast and their prices right now. One minute it was $107 and then the next month it went to $122, then the next month it went to $142, then last month it went to $169.00. We are going to have a nice long talk when I go in at the end of this month. So, from what I posted, you think about it. But I will say, TV I don't have a problem with it at all during bad weather or what not. Internet...slowwwwww......and it goes out sometimes....sometimes a few times a month.
  20. You are right, I should of had more of a warning to it. Live and learn. Next time, I will have more of a warning. I was reporting the news of what else disgusting young kids are doing. Thank you! And by not seeing my thread after I tried to post, I should have know it was either moved or deleted. I've been here long enough, that I should know what is what, on that level. I love me some Gomer!
  21. Hello Sarah? I was very nice about it.... I'm always nice about it. Did you not read what I wrote? I asked what happened to my post. EDIT: I didn't accuse the mods of deleting my post!!
  22. Why, it wasn't nasty, dirty, sexy, fighting, or those kinds of things that go there.
