  1. I am trying to figure out how my sprinkler system works off my well.

I have a large system that has about 15 zones, with around 80 sprinkler heads. By the well pump, I have an inground box with a pipe that appears to go to the sprinklers. There is an inline valve, then a spigot a few inches after. I assume the valve shuts water off to the system, then the spigot allows us to drain the sprinkler system for winter.

Right now the valve is leaking and needs to be replaced. At the same time I am thinking of teeing up and adding an above the ground spigot to water the garden and RC track.

I am stumped as to how the sprinkler system gets water. I thought the well pump was triggered by the storage tank in the house. I know there is a pressure switch at the bottom of the tank. I had a big sprinkler controller but lightning took care of that. Is there someing in the sprinkler controller that turns on the water pump to pressurize the sprinkler system?

At this time, the sprinklers dont work due to the fried controller. By main concern is replacing the leaking valve, then seeing if I can tee up for an above the ground water access point.

  2. I am looking to buy an ATV and have some questions. I have ridden a few, but not much. I have owned a sportbike and some pretty fast PWC's, so I am not new to the world of power toys. I dont really know anyone that rides so I dont have anyone to ask.

First question is, what kind of riding is around? I was looking at getting a 2x4 sport quad, but someone mentioned I should get a 4x4.

Are there any forums that most of the local riders use?

BTW, I am looking at used, not new

  3. ok i found it in my docs. It will be the current index

In summary this is the index based on LIBOR and published in the Wallstreet Journal.

From what I could find, I think we are going to take a hit here. Its the index plus 5.375% My search tells me the current index is 3.25. thats 8.625. ouch

any mortgage people out there, feel free to PM me

  4. I have never had a mortgage long enough for the rate to adjust, I always refi-ed. I was just looking and saw my ARM is going to adjust in July. Its currently 7.75%. Any idea how to figure if its going to go up or down? is it based on the current prime rate? what can i look for in my loan docs?

  5. Well I wanted to follow up. I did rent the machine and had someone help me out, well actually, he did all the work. I did get some time behind the machine and did some work. Operating the machine was very easy, but removing the grass and not removing an extra 6" of dirt was a challenge. It is a skill thats for sure.

I really appreciate the help. Not sure if he wants to remain anonymous or not so I wont mention who

And thanks for the call before you dig reminder. I did call and had everything marked. Luckily there were no conflicts.

  6. I am needing a piece of the yard cleared. probably 150'by60'. Its just grass, no brush, trees, etc. I just want the grass removed so I can have pure clay.

I am thinking of renting a bobcat or hiring someone. I have the time, thats not an issue but have never operated anything like a bobcat. It seems like a simple job to me but what do I know.

How hard would it be for me to do it?

How much do bobcat operators charge on an hourly basis?

  7. Well the shots will be outside for softball and maybe R/C cars (outside as well)

I guess I will see how those lenses work and maybe upgrade later.

I did the math and I usually buy local for support and to support local businesses. But Ebay saved us quite a bit here.

Wolf camera is 1300 for the body alone, then tax, another $100. So thats 1400

This package is 1600, no tax, no shipping. Then by using live.com and paypal, I got a 10% rebate which is 150+. Then I get all the extra stuff. So IMO it seemed like a good deal. And if it turns out the lenses dont work for my application, I will try to Ebay them for a few bucks, then get the lens I need/want

As far as buying it on Ebay I am not worried. The seller has lots of feedback. 5 negatives out of 4300 transactions seems good to me. Plus you have Ebay and paypal protection

Once I get the camera, I am going to try to attend the photoclub meetings

  8. Yeah I was hoping to hear more from dads and how CSE worked towards paying arrearages. We have a court date for GA CSE to handle an out of state order. I owe some back support and was wondering how flexible CSE was in working towards a repayment plan.

So far my impression is they are retards. I get a letter demanding I come in at a certain day and time. The phone # on the letter goes to a central office and they cant transfer me or even tell me who the case worker is. SO I show up, the case worker isnt there and they tell me they cant even enforce the order until after the court date. So why demand I come in? just to waste my time? Theres a error in the arrearages and I have proof of payments. She said to come back, just hoping the case worker may be there when I come but I cant schedule an appointment. Stupid

BTW we dont have online access or anything because CSE isnt officially handling this yet

  9. we arent looking for super clean. We have dogs and two were pups that did their deed alot and its just nasty. We are planning on upgrading in the next few months. just have to get all these nasty pee marks up. They havent gone in the house in a long time so I think its safe to clean

Sunbelt has cleaners with a heater in them. I have had people come out and clean carpets but never had a truck mounted unit. They always had a portable that looked like this and the carpets looked pretty good

  10. Home Depot has them in the tool rental section. Wifey used one Saturday, did pretty good. I think it was $27 for 4 hours, $38 for a full day. Plus shampoo.

Was the whole unit combined or did the cleaning nozzle come off with a long hose?

The reason is we have to clean around alot of things and using an all in one unit is so hard

  11. I know I can get one from Sunbelt tool rental in Douglasville, looking for a place closer

I do not want the Rug Doctor from Kroger. They work fine but its not easy to use as you have to move the whole machine versus a commercial cleaner that you just use a hose/nozzle.

And I dont want to hire someone. The carpets are so dirty, its kind of embarrassing

  12. Sanatarium would be cool, battery, disposable heroes,

I could go on and on

I knew wifey would be excited. She said we have to wait to the PS2 version comes out but I know when the time comes, she'll cave and we'll finally get that PS3

  13. I dont think there was a contract. The sales rep told me he would have to check with the Atlanta store. He said he was paying them a personal visit in a couple weeks and he would talk to them about it and see how they felt. Well they charge full list price or more for just about everything in their store. Their prices are extremely high compared to other brick and mortar stores, not even comparing to internet sites. Well what do you think they are going to say, sure lets allow competition in. They currently have the whole Atlanta market on lockdown. They will do what it takes to protect that.

Its not a franchise. Franchisees pay big money to lock a territory and I understand that.

    Competition is good for consumers

There may be contract but thats not how it was presented to me. Basically he didnt want to piss off his other customer

  14. I am looking into other business ventures and ran across one I was interested in. I dont want to say exactly what right now.

When reviewing one distributors website, there are 13 retailers in the South Florida area alone. When researching the Atlanta area, there is only one retailer with 2 Atlanta stores and one in Athens which is 1-2 hours from Atlanta. After I expanded my search, I found another one in Savannah which is 3-5 hours away, completely different territory. And those seem to be the only ones in the state.

So one would think there is plenty of room for another business in Atlanta. It is not that unique of a product. There is also a very large internet market

I call a distributor up and he basically tells me he wont open an account for me. The Atlanta store does alot of business with them and he wouldnt want to upset them. There are other distributors but thise is the large one and they also have alot of their own manufactured products which would be needed

    Is this legal?

I have thought about ways around it like contacting the manufacturers and telling them XYZ wont sell to me.
