  1. I hope they tire of roaming and come back home soon.
  2. 3. Here is what Dave Ramsey says: tricityherald.com / Blogs / Dave Ramsey Published Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 Pre-marital counseling a good idea Dear Dave: I just got engaged, and already people are telling us that pre-marital counseling is a good idea. What is your opinion? - Bradley Dear Bradley, It doesn't necessarily mean that someone thinks you aren't right for each other when they suggest you think about pre-marital counseling. In fact, I think it's a great thing, a smart thing, and something every couple should do prior to marriage. There are four areas in which y
  4. I would recommend talking to someone who is objective (counselor, etc.). Some families teach their sons that blood relatives come before their wives (which goes against the teaching of the Bible). Your in-laws can cause you massive pain if it's not clear that a man's wife should come before the whims of his parents, siblings, etc. Do not marry a man that values other people (parents, employer, etc.), his job, etc. more than you!
  5. Thanks. I was wondering as some models with a built-in tuner are for sale in the $400-$500 range like this one listed at amazon.com: Panasonic DMR-EZ48VP-K 1080p Upconverting VHS DVD Recorder with Built In Tuner by Panasonic 3.1 out of 5 stars See all reviews (286 customer reviews) | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Available from these sellers. 5 new from $418.00 http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMR-EZ48VP-K-1080p-Upconverting-Recorder/dp/B0014F9U6U
  6. You said that tuners were for convenience. What do they do?
  7. I'm shopping for a combination DVD Player with a VCR for my mom. Some say "no tuner" What does that mean? I noticed that the descriptions of some older models say they have a tuner built in. By Mom has cable TV but doesn't have a cable box. (She lives in another state.) What does the addition of a tuner do? If I get a model without a tuner will she still be able to play dvds and vhs videoes? Will she need one with a built-in turner to record a show from TV---unless she gets a cable box? Are cable companies in other states going to start requiring cable boxes?
  8. Why do you think that is? I see it and it's a trend I would like to see reversed. Do you think things will change for the better anytime soon?
  9. When I was growing up in general it was believed that if someone was putting down another person with words then the target of the put-downs would ignore the bully. It was not seen as accepting their words---on the contrary. Are you talking about bullying that goes beyond words and becomes physical? (I haven't read every post in the thread.)

  11. Since you're a believer I would suggest seeing herself being enveloped in God's healing power and presence. (To me I see it as light---golden rays of light.)
  12. I don't like for anyone to suffer (people or animals).
  13. Well, he could just as easily responded in a different way. And he's given that same Foie-Gras speech before. Have you somehow missed that?
  14. It sounds like Surepip believes they have emotions similar to humans. He described them as "very happy," and "willing to give up their lives early" so he can eat them. I was responding to his statement.
  15. The newborn calves are known to cry loudly when separated from their mothers. I don't know how you could describe them as "very happy."
  16. Surepip, I don't understand why anyone would want animals to suffer.
  17. I was looking at the whole history of the song when I cut and pasted the url. So it wouldn't go back to that page because it's not the title of an "article?" I used that url to get a tiny url which I added to the post I started the thread with. Clicking on the tiny url goes to the whole history of the song.
  18. We can't post a whole article here because of copyright laws. (It's covered in paulding.com's rules.) I cut and pasted the link so I don't know why it's not working now. When I clicked on the link I was taken to a different wikipedia page. Is that what happened when you clicked it? If so, try clicking the first words that are printed in blue and see if that takes you to the history of the song. Edited to add: I added a tiny url to my first post in the thread. Click that to read the whole piece containing the history of the song.
  19. With so many other food choices it amazes me that veal is still on anyone's menu. So much suffering for the animals ...
  20. I do wonder if it was Nelson who was booed or the police: Garden Party (Rick Nelson song) "Garden Party" is a 1972 hit song for Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band from the album Garden Party. The song tells the story of Nelson being booed off the stage at Madison Square Garden, seemingly because he was playing his newer, country-tinged music instead of the 1950s-era rock that he had been successful with earlier, and his realization that "you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself". The concert On October 15, 1971, a Rock 'n Roll Revival concert was given at
  21. I was searching online for some local plant nursery websites. I was surprised when this song started planting at one. The song is about a performance at Madison Square Garden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUDRZ5j0lUQ
  22. I just got around to watching it last night. I liked how the different characters looked back on their lives but overall it was pretty sad. I haven't watched the latest episode that aired Sunday.
  23. This mentions a couple of things to check for including a dirty filter. Also, a repairman told me that setting the thermostat low could cause it to freeze: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070926132719AA67Nkm
  24. I went to Aldi in Douglasville today. I got some produce and 2 rose bushes. I got "Peace" and "Mr. Lincoln."
  25. Is your friend responsible for that? My Mom owns two apartments that she rents and she maintains and repairs anything that needs it.
