  1. OH, MY! I've got to save that one in the "Red Neck" picture file... and then share it with my friends!!!!

Captions: "What'da thin, can we pu 'nother on top?"

"We're still addin on! got any suggestions for where to put the next one?"

"How do you like our tornado trap? We are hopeing to catch a big one?"

    Loved "We're movin on up..."

  2. Start a foreign coin collection! You'd be amazed at how many you can find! I usually just get the Canadian coins... I'll give you a couple of dimes for them. Then I can add them to my collection, if I can find my collection, that is. :p

  3. Microwave Mac&Cheese, if you use the Kraft brand. Have her pour the water into the bowl and add the macaroni. Cook in the microwave for about 3 min. When done, you remove the bowl. Put it on the table, have her add the cheese, butter, milk and stir...

Microwave Mexian grilled cheese sandwich (quesadilla). Put a tortilla on a plate, have her cover it with shredded cheese (she will make a mess doing this!). Top the cheese with another tortilla, microwave until cheese is melted. Take the sandwich out of microwave, cut into pieces, serve... If she can't eat a whole one, don't top with a second tortilla, just fold the first one in half!

If she is not allergic to peanut butter... cut an apple into 8 pieces, remove the seeds. Then have her spread Peanut butter on each apple piece. Optional: have her sprinkle the peanut butter with raisin's, M&M's (we use the minis), chocolate chips or sprinkles. You can also do the same thing with celery, bananas, carrots, etc... You could also try this with something like apple butter, cream cheese or her favorite jelly/jam.

  4. The first time I went out with my husband-to-be was to the Ren Fair... They had it in the fall that year.

Our daughter went to the fair when she was less than 2 month old, she was born in Sept, the fall fair was in October. She fell asleep to the bagpipe music!!!!! She also went to the Scottish Festival that same month! I do miss that fall fair. It was always so much nicer, weather wise!

We haven't missed a year yet, this will be our 12th year going together. We usually go twice. But I don't think we will be able to do that this year. :o To many other activities now that the children are in grade school!

I can't wait to see the Lippazaner(sp) horses! I've wanted to see them perform since I was a little girl!

Did you know that they are born all black, but by the time they are mature, they are pure white?

  5. We use Tea Tree oil. Just use a q-tip to dab it on the spots. A little will go a long, long way. Using the Tea Tree soap should be a big help also! Using both, you should see improvement in a couple of days!

Tea Tree oil is both anti-bactireal(spelling?) and anti-fungal, it will get rid of both. Just remember that you only need to use a very small amount.

  6. Every time we have gotten new phones or signed a new contract they just kept us on the same plan, even though it is hasn't been available for over 4 years. If they are telling you to change plans, I would talk to someone else. We've had the same plan for something like 6 years.

Opps, I forgot that ATT has bought Cingular since then. They may have changed the rules on us!!!

  7. When I have to go to the "career services center" (they don't call it an unemployment office anymore  ) I usually go to the one in Kennesaw. I never go on a Monday or a Friday. I usually go midmorning and I almost never have to wait in line.

They sorta base how much you get on your previous wages, but only upto a set maximum, which is currently $320 before taxes.

  8. We used to go to the Jackson Hewet(sp) in the K-mart shopping center. They are the ones who are in Wal-mart every year. The last time we used them, I looked over the person's shoulder and realized that she was just entering data into a software package and printing out the return! That's why you are seated facing the person, so you don't know that this is what they are really doing (My theory, no other proof! so don't slam me for that statement!)

Plus the tax preparer still messed it up and we had to pay a small penalty, which they did not reimberse, even though it was the preparers fault! I'm sure if we had been persistant we could have been reimbursed the fine amount, but we figured we'd cost them more money by not going back than what their mistake cost us in fines!

The next year I went out and bought TurboTax Deluxe home and office verson and did it myself. That version is designed to meet the needs of small businesses, sole proprierships, partnerships and anybody with a home office! It made it so much easier to do our taxes, that we have now used them for several years and we will continue to use them.

Besides, we were already doing 90% of the work when we took it to one of the store front tax preparer places, so I decide to save the money and do it at home. I can also do them any day, any time, in my PJ's or dressed up for a prom and no one cares. We don't have to go back 3-4 times or more because we forgot something or to pick up the printouts. I can enter the data as I get it together and the program keeps track of what we have and do not have completed... It will also remember what you filed from previous years if you use the same program every year. And if you have equipment depriciations that are taken over a period of years, it automatically fills in the information for the current year. Which is nice, cause I get the deductions without having to go through a whole bunch of paper. I don't know if the on-line ones will have that capability.

For the ones who said you get what you pay for, not always. We paid a preparer to get the taxes done right and they were not. We paid for their mistake. They didn't stand behind their service. And those places are not cheap. Now if you go to an accountant, not one of those store front, only open for tax season places, I would agree. Cheap is what you will probably get if you go cheap on the price. But with H&R Block, Jackson Hewett and other places like that, you are paying a lot just to have someone else do the data entry!!

If you can't tell, I like my turbo tax software... The other ones should be just as good. I've just not used them...

  9. Last time we were up for renewal, the cashier at the regular register told us about this policy of Sam's. We usually end up waiting until it has expired, before we renew. Sam's has

We never, ever pay when they send out the mail notices. Those things are always sent out months in advance and we don't always renew our club memberships... We used to have all 3 warehouse membership, Costco and BJ's as well as Sam's, but we don't work near any of the other two any more, and we don't shop in Kennesaw or Austell anymore, so we dropped the memberships. Now if they built one or the other in Paulding County, we would probably get another membership. I do like what Costco sells, but we won't make a special trip just to go there.

  10. OK guys, I new I should have posted this in this forum.

Sorry about the Hijack... I'll move this if you want me to.

If this one has already found a home, I've got a purebreed Aussie Cattledog that I have been trying to find a home for. She is 18 months old. Spayed and Microchipped. She is due for her annual visit to the vet, but I can work with you on that (either take her or pay the vet bill for you to take her) I was planning on taking her to the PetSmart clinic, but I just found out that the one in Hiram no longer does the clinic.

I've been trying to find her a better home because she is killing and eating chickens. I have talked hubby into letting me find a home for her, but if she is caught killing any of the neighbors chicken's the neighbors will shoot her on site. We keep her in our fenced yard, but it is really way to small an area for such an active dog and she does occasionally get out.

She does fine around our 6 and 8 year olds, but would probably be too active for a toddler child. She's not aggressive, she just wants all your attention and will knock you down to get into your lap! Oh, she is the Classic Blue Merle colored Aussie. She is currently an outdoors only dog, but I know she is smart enough to be house trained rather quickly! She weighs about 50 pounds.

    End of Hijack...

  11. Paulding county just hasn't caught up with the rest of Metro Atlanta.

There are still people living here who have never been any further away from Paulding than Douglasville, Cartersville or Cedartown. And that is a big deal for them. As more people move here, we should start seeing more programs offered. And maybe once they build the new hospital we will get more services like this.

Until then, we are stuck going to Cobb or Atlanta for things like this.

  12. Welcome to Paulding county!

Sorry your having such a hard time.

For help like that you will probably have to go to Cobb county or into Atlanta. You can try contacting the children's hospitals in Atlanta. Egleston Childrens Hospital or Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. Or you can try Kennestone Hospital in Marietta or Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austel. The hospitals in Cobb have programs that Paulding does not have.

My husband is a type II diabetic and he goes to Marietta for treatment. The doctors in Paulding didn't know what to do with him, other than prescribe medication. No referel for support or classes or anything.

I also had to go to Cobb when I developed Gestational Diabetes. No help here in Paulding for that either.

  13. We had one that was front/back and had the car seat/infant carrier seat arrangement. We only used it for the mall and festivals (we go to a lot of festivals). If I went into a store I was usually in a hurry and didn't want to mess with trying to get the stoller in and out of the car. I would use the stores regular shopping cart and the oldest sat in the child seat and the baby was in the carrier in the basket of the shopping cart.

Once the children were old enough to walk and not want to be in a stroller, we bought a nice wagon to take to the festivals. The children loved to pull each other and when they got tired they could sit or lay down while daddy pulled them. We would put a couple of small blankets (padding) in the wagon along with the diaper bag, water, snacks etc in the wagon and could spend all day at a festival. We used the wagon for about 3 years. The children still play with the wagon, but we don't take it to any more festivals! It is a regular wagon, not one of those plastic ones with seats and doors. We did find one that had "shock absorbers" on the wheels and that was a big help. We did not take the wagon to the mall. There we used the "cheap" umbrella strollers.

My advice would be to decide how you think you will use the stroller. Do you go to the mall a lot? Do you go to outdoor festivals? Did you use a single stroller? That will be your best guide. If you didn't use a single much, you won't use the double either. If you do decide to get one, test them in the store. Make sure you can set it up and fold it down buy yourself (with a toddler trying to get your attention!) Also make sure that you can pick it up, by yourself, when it is folded down.

    Good luck!

  14. I don't blame you. I sold my house in 1996 and never looked back. First time I ever walked out on a fight!!!

My dad took one look at the house and told me to sell it before it needed some major fixing up. And I just couldn't handle what was going on with the HOA at that time. Loved my next-door and cross the street neighbors, but the power trip some of the other home owners were on was unreal!!!!

I should have run as fast as I could in the other direction when the builder started playing games! But we worked it out and I bought a house in phase II.

Do you know who the previous treasurer was? They might have some records. I know I kept copies of my records for a few years after I left, sorry, don't have them anymore. All the records are supposed to be locked in the office at the club house. I know that while I was there, one of the home owners had copies of almost all the records from the time of the first HOA Board up to and including the years I was on the board. She had both the minutes from most of the meetings and most of the accounting records. I wonder if she still lives there.

The biggest problem we had was getting some of the homeowners to pay the dues. There wasn't a whole lot we could do to make them pay if they didn't want to pay. The only thing we could do was to not issue pool passes and put a lean (sp?) on the house.

I do know that if the HOA doesn't pay for the street lights, the homeowners can pay for them. Problem is the county will only bill the cost of the lights to the owner of the property the light is on. If you don't have a light on your property, you don't have to pay for the lights. If the light is on your property and you don't want to pay for it, you don't have to. Each homeowner has to request that the cost of the light be added to their bill. While I was still on the board, there was a big fight over who was going to pay for the lights in Phase II, the HOA or the homeowners. What a mess that was and a big contributing factor in my decision to move! The HOA was paying for the lights when I moved.

PM me if you want. It's getting late for me tonight, but I'll answer tomorrow.

  15. If this is Kingswood club, I feel for you. I was on the board, What an eye opener. :( :o :(

Thank GOD, I moved out of that sub-division a long time ago. We drove through a few months ago and I am sure glad I sold when I did!

I will never buy into another sub-division with an HOA, unless I attend several of their board meetings first and probably not even then!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Don't assume that those who don't stop are from the north.

I'm from Illinois and I stop. That is what I was taught.

I was also taught to say a prayer for the family and loved ones left behind.

I stop as a sign of respect for the mourners. Not the dead body.

Unless I know the deceased was a solder, then I stop as a sign of respect for his/her sacrifce for my freedom!!!!

  17. I just ran across this on the WSB radio web site

The dog dug his way out of the yard. Some lady found the dog, decided to give him as a Christmas present to her daughter. The dog had a collar on that had his home address on it. Instead of returning the dog, the lady writes the owners a letter telling them that she found the dog and since her daughter wanted a dog just like the one she found, she was giving it to her daughter instead of returning it! :o :glare:

    Lost pug article

What a crock of BS. I hope the original owners find out who this lady is and that they get their dog back. I also hope that the child is old enough to understand that what her mother did was just so totally wrong!!!!!

  18. I hate when they do that. First off, stop using the term "refund" when you talk to them. Tell them you want your money returned for goods not delivered. It is not a refund, you have not recieved what you payed for and you want your money back. Did they have signs posted anywhere that they would not give refunds on items bought with the mall card? You might also want to check and find out if you can file a fraud complaint. They don't have the item and they won't return your money, sounds like retail fraud to me.

And, maybe before you do anything else, you might want to call Clark Howard and see if he can help you. He loves to talk to the customer no service people. You can get the numbers at www.wsbradio.com or at his web site www.clarkhoward.com.

    Good luck!
