  1. That's why we need to focus on poverty in our own country before we go taking on the worlds problems. Until some of the countries we continuously send money to get rid of their greedy, tyrannical leaders, their plight will never get better regardless of how much money we send them. JMHO

  2. My wife teaches dance. I won't even show her this because it will make her sick.

In my opinion, this is not actually "dance." This is vulgar, hypersexualized movement masquerading as art. (It is evidence of the continuing cultural laxity that has led to the progressively younger sexualization of our children and our neighbors' children.) There is little grace or beauty to be seen in these movements. There is barely even an attempt at any artistic statement other than "Here's my vajayjay -- watch me pump it at you. And here's my butt." Crawling all over that chair, spreading for a "Basic Instinct" moment, then pulling boys out of the crowd like strippers doing lap dances... if there were justice in the world the teacher/sponsor of this team would be dismissed with a public denunciation, and the parents of all of these girls would be horrified and would have scooped their girls up off the floor mid-routine. In a perfect world the audience would have booed this nonsense down and the sponsor/coach would have been fired on the spot. The crowd, by the way, would not have been responsible for hurting the girls' feelings by booing until it was halted... the COACH would have been responsible for that by pimping them out in the first place and lying to them that acting like a harlot was the right way that high school girls should entertain an audience at a high school basketball game.

My wife has directed a dance program where some classes studied jazz and hiphop, but the choreography was always done with modesty in the movement. There are plenty of creative movements, footwork, and other motions that involve the hips and pelvis to a degree but which are not hypersexualized to look like whores straight out of an MTV or BET whoremonger's video.

    Thus endeth my reaction.

I totally agree with you, this video sickens me. I heard today that the girls added to this routine and the admin. and coach did not know. However, the coach and/or principal should have never allowed them to go out on the floor dressed like that. The coach and at least one admin. should have been present at the game and yanked them off the floor. I believe the coach and admin. present should be reprimanded. Absolutely unbelievable!

  3. While it is rare in adult dogs, they certainly CAN get it. I have known personally of two adult dogs who have contracted Parvo. They are more resistant to it because they have built up immunities, but even if they don't come down with a full-fledged case of Parvo (with all the symptoms a puppy has), adult dogs who contract it might then go on to be "shedders" of the virus.

I hope your post on craigslist reached the people that needed to see it.

I also know of an adult dog that had Parvo. She survived, but was never the same afterwards.

I would like to tell our story. We found out about this site from a girl who is also disabled. She has helped us with fundraisers in the past. She called my husband at work and told him about the rude comments about what we are doing to save our daughter's life. Our daughter McKenzie was born with a life threatening disease called mitochondria. We didn't know what to do. A mom with a daughter who has the same disease called us and told about treatment in Florida that tremendously helped her child. We soon found out insurance would not cover it because they consider it experimental. We did what any parent would do, who was put in this situation. We started a fundraising campaign. We contacted the UMDF but they do not offer funding, only information. We contacted St. Jude, they only deal with Cancer patients. We contacted the Shriners. They do take care of McKenzie's orthopaedic needs. Everyone we called could not help us with the money needed to start this type of therapy and treatments. Our church held a Benefit singing which paid for the first set of treatments. My brother in law had a texas holdem tournament which paid for her second set of treatments. We have done everything possible before standing on a street corner raising money for her treatments. If anyone out there can help us you can visit my daughter's website at www.mckenziecarey.com. There is nothing we won't do to save our daughter's life. I would do anything to have my daughter live a more normal life. She is definitely an angel sent from God. Thank you for reading our story.

Thank you for posting your story. I know that there is NOTHING I wouldn't do for my children. God Bless You!

Judgemental people make me sick!!! There are so many that are ready to pounce before they know the whole story.

  5. When I got home today my hubby had taken our dog for a walk. He encountered a black lab with camo collar and no tag. He wasn't sure if it belonged to someone in the neighborhood, so he left him alone. Soon after, the PC Animal Control went down the street. If your dog fits this description, please call the animal shelter. He also encountered someone looking for their missing golden retriever. We don't know the name of the people, but just thought I would shoot out a FYI since most of us love animals on this site. Thanks!

  6. Yes that is what I meant I just didnt know how to say it, thank you for helping me, I know that there are defiently a lot of scams.

I edited my post, check out the link I posted above.

  7. I have a friend who has come up with a great money maker but she dosent know how to get it registered so that people wont steal it and sell it themselves. Does anybody know where to begin this kind of process?

    Thanks!

Are you talking about patenting something? If so, there are many scams out there so be careful. I researched patenting, but it is very expensive. You really need to contact a reputable lawyer and get advice from him. The patenting process is a long one. Good luck!!

I found my book, try this link.....

  8. does your noisy neighbors have an above ground pool?

I don't know about the OP, but I have neighbors with an above ground pool that party alot. They don't do if every night, but quite a bit. They live directly behind me. It is really bad when the weather is nice. I wonder if we live in the same neigborhood?

  9. Peanut definitely loves her "blankie!"

My granddog has those same longjohns, the light pink ones. They are too cute!!

My Ony will not stay in the house. He is a rescue and was chained up for three long years and he hates being cooped up, he goes nuts! I called the vet today and asked what I should do to help him stay warm and they told me about the hay and cedar chips. I hope he will be okay. I worry so much about him, but he is one tough doggie.

  10. No more animals for now....

I plan on going to KSU. I'm going for a teaching degree, and since the program requires me to go into a critical field in teaching, I'm going for either science or special education.

And in my excitment I forgot to mention it in the original post. A special thanks to LGM as well, she was a great help in providing much needed info on part of the application process, I would of been stumped without her help.

I was so nervous opening the letter with my results I nearly puked....

And I took a second look at my results, I was only interest in the actual score, but it turns out I got a perfect score on it. I guess that means I'm not dumb.

Good luck!! I am also a KSU student. IF you go with Science or Special Education, you can probably teach anywhere you want to. There are teacher shortages in those two areas.

  11. Jason also suffers from severe cramping, but his are not limited to his legs. Doing tree work, especially when it's hot, he sweats a lot, and that causes dehydration, and then he will start cramping and it will hit several different muscle areas and can last for hours.

Here is the solution we have found to work.

    1. Get a bottle of potassium pills. Keep them in your system. He has to do this especially in the summer.

    2. Drink A LOT of water if your doing hard labor work.

    3. If he still cramps, then the best way we have found to stop them quickly, is to eat a spoonful of mustard. I know that is a little gross, but it works. Someone told us about that a long time ago, and it does seem to help them ease up and stop rather quickly.

One thing very important to remember is that your heart is also a muscle. If he does like Jason and the cramps attack several muscle areas at once, and you can't make them stop, then it can happen to the heart also. Don't let the cramping continue for long. If it doesn't stop quickly, it is very important to go to the ER and let them put an IV in you to re-hydrate you. Jason has had to do this a couple of times (usually when he has forgotten to take his potassium for a couple of days and they are no longer in his system).

I hope this helps. Jason has done this all of his life, and also used to take the quinine. They always helped him too, and we were at a loss when they took those off the shelf.

Good advice!! My DH has a very physical job and also suffers from severe leg cramps. When we go to bed at night I can feel the backs of his legs jumping constantly! Sometimes he has to jump up and walk them off, but sometimes that doesn't even work. He also takes potassium, eats LOTS of bananas, and drinks lots of water. Good luck!

  12. Has anyones else received one of these?

It says my mortgage is eligible for special modifications in conjunction with the Governmental Economic Stimulus Act of 2008

So my gut feeling tells me it is a scam, but I just wanted to see if anyone else knows about this?

Clark Howard would probably sound off the scam alarm. However, my mortgage company, Countrywide, did a voluntary loan modification approx. one year ago and lowered our interest rate with no strings attached. Of course, they were under fire at the time. I would be very careful.

  13. Not sure about the "superhearing," but I posted in another thread about my ear problems. They started the weekend before Christmas. My eardrum ruptured on Monday night, very painful, lots of yuck draining from my ear. I have not had this kind of ear stuff since I was a kid. I have been through two rounds of antibiotics, lots of decongestants, two Rocephen shots and two steroid shots and still have lots of fluid in my ear. My hearing is very bad right now, but loud noises really set me off, it is very strange, but very aggravating. I saw Dr. Burson, an ENT in Villa Rica on Friday and I absolutely love him. He showed me everything in a diagram, but basically, because of infection I have fluid trapped in my eusthacian tube. They will do a hearing test on Wed. and he will let me know what's next. He said it is likely I will have to have tubes in my ears. I'm sorry about your problems, but if you need a good ENT, Dr. Burson is awesome!!
