Here We Go Again. No Indictment in Death in New York
NewsJunky replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You do know that the kids health care programs there are supported by the taxes on Cigarettes don't you? How will they pay for it if everyone quits smoking in a effort to get healthy or to save money on the awful taxes? -
Wishing you the best of luck.

No, I don't listen to one at all. I do have to agree to some extent about them giving tickets. Bill Carruth Parkway comes to mind. See them there with radar all the time. This is why it is going to be so difficult to change things from the outside. It has to be changed from the inside. They need new leaders and some who are not playing politics. -

Once again you are wrong. We are fortunate to have a good Sheriff and he does not send his deputies out to chase speeders. To my knowledge they do a good job and do not abuse the folks they deal with. -

No, I did not say we should not obey the law. I said this one is stupid and when legislators make stupid law they can result in unintended consequences. No one should ever die over selling a loose cigarette. The police officer should never have had to go out and enforce something like that when there are murderers, thieves, kidnappers, and child molesters to track down. -

Agree 100% but the other point is a stupid tax on Cigarettes law that would create this kind of situation. -
I would go with Emory too.

Just like they did in the 60's. I think articles in opinion columns, calls, and letters to the folks in power are more effective. Especially when they are sent in huge numbers. If it turns to violence no one wins and they lose ground. -
That is the picture the President and Holder seem to be pushing. This is not a racial issue. They need to focus on all of the crime in the communities the folks come from. How many Black kids are killed by other Blacks. True leaders will put the focus where it belongs and work on making meaningful change instead of turning it into a race war.

I hope the police cleared the road and he is at his destination. Have heard nothing else from him. I hate the whole thing. That poor man should be alive but I don't think the demonstrations are the right answer. Wish I knew too so you could direct him. -

He did not say that he felt threatened. Just that the cab was stuck in traffic with protesters all around. Hope he got out. -

From his video there are protesters all around the taxi. I am pretty sure he should not get out. Have not heard anything in over an hour. Hope he got to his destination. -

There are massive demonstrations in New York. I hope it does not get ugly. I have a friend stuck in a cab there. -

I agree! Getting taxes on cigarettes is not enough to cause something like this. Police officers have far more heinous crimes to concern themselves with. This is a perfect example of too many laws. Legislators take heed! Laws almost always have unintended consequences. -
Sorry, I did not see this before I posted the story too. Maybe the mods can take mine down.

This one looks different to me. Man said "I can't breathe" but the cop did not let him go and he died. Grand Jury found nothing wrong. I saw the tape and this guy was selling cigarettes illegally. He was unarmed and he died in an arrest. This does not sit well with me. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-eric-garner-chokehold-grand-jury-verdict-20141203-story.html#page=1

This guy has it right. Wonder if those idiots blocking the road have jobs? I also wonder why we have not heard in the MSM about the 20 year old black kid that was murdered during the night of burning. He is said to have testified for the cop. He told the truth and may have died for it. -
The reason the cops have not put a stop to it is because they will be portrayed as the bad guys again and the trouble will get worse. I have news for them there is an element out there working hard to cause more riots. If they don't stop it now it can get much worse. We have gone backwards in race relations since Obama was elected.

From what I heard today he and Holder will be helping to keep the trouble going. In most towns and cities that would never have even gone to the Grand Jury. Holder will not let the decision go without getting the Federal Government involved. I am looking for more calls for quotas in the police force in Ferguson and more money to stop the poverty there. Here is a thought, maybe folks should stop having kids if they can't afford them. Brown's mom was never married to any of her boy friends. Brown's Grandmother raised him. Maybe they should start with their own community and try to fix thi
